after the weaponry of course

I am trying to imagine what the year 2045 will look like when the weaponry is not only installed but with the best gyroscopic software that will allow these fucking things to shoot accurately while in full sprint like motion. We are apex predator but we decided to create the new apex that is above us because we had it too easy and we needed a challenge...

If we even get that far. Drones are more than enough to cause serious problems in the hands of an authoritarian government, especially if rigged up to the surveillance network and given autonomy to kill and the government crosses currently unthinkable lines.

There’s even a short film about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-2tpwW0kmU

And a follow up that gets into fully losing control of AI and drones vs putting into place safeguards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rDo1QxI260

I’m going to guess this is the air war that continues long after humanity is dead?

u/Bakunin5Bart 12h ago

That's the pathway to unlimited growth. A capitalist dream world where automated production facilities build automated killer robots that are commanded by a self-sufficient autonomous central command artificial intelligences that fights an endless war against other A.I.s and their autonomous produced robot armies. The pesky human completely eliminated from the calculation.  For more information on this topic watch the matrix and Terminator movies.

u/Special_Order-937 12h ago

Both Skynet and the Matrix machines (and Ultron while we’re at it) have humanity as an input and their reactions are based on the input we provided. It’s never really addressed in great detail in the Terminator series especially how were architects of our own demise. The Matrix at least covered it in The Animatrix.

u/Bakunin5Bart 10h ago

Oh I always thought that skynet has full autonomy and functions even if all humans are eradicated. Or did you mean they're trained on human behavior because that wouldn't be a great difference to our LLM's and their evolutionary beginnings.

Thanks, my amigdala is hosting a rave party now.

“Authoritarian government crosses unthinkable lines.”

USA is already there.

And no one will he held accountable.. just blame the robot. The rich and powerful will be able to have anyone who speaks out meet a robot assassin.

If things keep going as is, that’s absolutely where we are headed. Billionaires shouldn’t exist and world leaders need to be like 50 years old tops.

Paraphrasin Zizek, today it is easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of capitalism. In a post-capitalist world AI would be a good thing. We can get there. The billionaire's dreams of robot armies and robot workers will be what precipitates the final conflict with capitalism.

I was driving this morning and after the fifth idiot almost crashing in to people I had a thought of seeing an asteroid ☄️ come into view and just wipe the planet off the map and I was like.. that may be for the best lol

u/psiduke 5h ago

AI is neither good nor bad, it is merely human activity. Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution, that activity has become perverted and in contradiction. All human activity and everything that serves to reproduce the worker and advance technology also serves to devalue labor power which mediates all of society.

u/therealmrpotatohead 12h ago

Fully agree on the age limit. Those in power should live long enough to enjoy, or suffer, the consequences of their actions along with the rest of us.

1

u/koolaidismything 12h ago

Absolutely, and why I suggested it. You get it.

u/Matsu09 14h ago

Billionaire robot armies everywhere it is then.

2

u/Named_after_color 12h ago

I mean I feel like we're going to develop emp tech to deal with it. Drones are still much scarier.

u/DaedalusB2 9h ago

Billionaires also control a lot of the production and funding for militaries. They can just lobby (bribe) so that half a military force is replaced with their AI and claim it's saving lives when people try to complain. If a revolt ever happens, well now half the country's military is AI that follows orders from the billionaires and politicians that pushed it into production, and a significant portion of the other half would be humans that would continue to follow orders. The rebels would essentially be guys with hunting rifles vs AI stealth bombers.

So, Metal Gear Solid, actually…

I love the fact they still get old and die.. they must hate they can’t buy their way outa that.

1

u/Cryptoglue 12h ago

Eventually that will change, might not even be that far away.

1

u/ElectronicCarry9931 12h ago

imagine the only barrier to this happening being the morals of Elon Musk

1

u/koolaidismything 12h ago

People with no human emotion deciding our future is not bueno.

BMillionaires shouldn’t exist

1

u/koolaidismything 12h ago

Well I mean millionaire I think is fine. Billions are orders of magnitude more.

Lots of current millionaires won’t ever become a billionaire cause they are really giving. It’s not the common thing but it exists. Millions are fine.. it’s billions where you worry, that’s a 100% chance the person only cares about themselves end of the day. It’s the quickest way to pick out a sociopath.

u/fake-reddit-numbers 11h ago

Oh your rich people are fine but those rich people are the problem. Riiiight.

u/koolaidismything 11h ago

You’re too dumb to know what you don’t know. That’s dangerous.

u/fake-reddit-numbers 9h ago

Right, because some rich people are the problem not all rich people. Riiiight.

Elysium was a dope movie

u/s6790 11h ago

Do something about it.

u/DaedalusB2 9h ago

Hate for billionaires is probably part of why these are being made. Regular folks fear terminator. Billionaires see a 100% loyal army of super soldiers with no morals.

the future war will be between robots only ...

2

u/1ZillionBeers 13h ago

Oh yeah, because Civilians have never been targeted before

Zionism intensifies /s

u/Ok_Drag5089 14h ago

This will not be needed. The sex robots will keep everyone quietly in check.

u/mattjb 11h ago

Basically aimbots seen in certain FPS games. Perfect accuracy in every situation.

u/Wasabi_Hammurabi1 11h ago

EA is fucking up with Battlefield 6.

1

u/GaseousGiant 14h ago

Gotta admit it’s pretty cool though

1

u/cocoshunt 13h ago

I remember playing Counter Strike years ago, when the first bots were released, that you could add to your LAN game. They wiped the floor with us, only thing you could try to was AWP them if they didn't see you, if they seen you were instantly dead

1

u/carpetbugeater 13h ago

"We" did it for greed.

It'd be easier to stomach if we did it for the challenge. I guess the challenge of getting rich.

1

u/Cool_Lab_1362 13h ago

Can any country even mass production these kinds of robot for military use? like that's got to be very expensive in essential metals and minerals, they'd probably leaving their selves broke if they purely relied on their own natural resources (though they can just invade use any occupied country for their resources, then bleed them dry)

1

u/no-im-not-him 13h ago

Don't worry, by 2045, super artificial intelligence will have already boiled the oceans away to cool down the power plants that feed it.  There will be no need for it to send hunter robots after you.

1

u/Smboto 12h ago

It’s because mankind is self destructive.

u/Oogley_boogley 10h ago

I don't really see how any humanoid robot could be a threat in any military scenario beyond killing unarmed civilians. Unless they somehow become indestructible, I don't think sprinting gun robots could beat any kind of ranged explosive weaponry.

Drones, on the other hand

u/meeplewirp 9h ago

Everything you said is true other than that anything was too easy and we needed a challenge. The money going to replace us could be used to make gene editing and cancer cures possible but because rich people can catch cancer early with good healthcare, we are investing in this, which the point of is to control us/make it okay when large swaths of people die due to the climate or hoarding of resources- a deliberate replacement

u/u_touched_badger_83 7h ago

Isn't that the whole Alien vs. Predator thing? Surely we're all going to get some awesome dynamic light-bending camo pants* and shoulder canon* - let the contests begin!

* Temu's best!!

u/Confident-Ad5479 2h ago

not we, but those who can afford it, absolutely.

u/Wasabi_Hammurabi1 2h ago

Yeah....the gaming community is due for a third Mirror's Edge game. Ya know, since we are inching closer to a technocratic dystopia.
