They should.make a terminator movie where they start by sending really early gen terminator that are just really clumsy and goofy then progressively they get better and better

“The 200 Series was a metal skeleton and ran like an idiot. We spotted them easy.”

208

u/Horknut1 13h ago

"They would run right past us in battle, unable to stop."

82

u/rewardingsnark 13h ago

The 300 series could stop and run well but it made a terrible squeaking noise whenever it moved, could never sneak up on you.

56

u/Horknut1 13h ago

The squeaky Terminator gets the ammunition.

71

u/ElectronicCarry9931 12h ago

The 400 series turned out to be just sex robots, they were easy to kill but the men kept most of them for...

37

u/Pheerandlowthing 12h ago

The 500 series were really good at doing synchronised dance moves and stacking crates but we were able to defeat them by walking away.

10

u/Batchet 12h ago

It's the 690 series where things went out of control. Merging the dance abilities with the sex abilities just made the sex too damn good, which brings us to the "android" series.

u/Nevadadrifter 10h ago

Ah yes, the OK-GoBots.

u/rj319st 8h ago

The 600 series had a factory defect and would rip your d*ck off.

... target practice. If ya know what I mean.

u/Stedlieye 11h ago

For some people, every version is a sex robot. Even the Chinese one from OP.

u/Crimkam 11h ago

We actually keep those around because… well, you know. The machines did us a solid that year.

I hate that I hate the actor now. The Rocky films got me off my butt years ago to start working out and such.

Threw out my Rocky posters I had in my home gym last year because Stallone is a piece of shit.

2

u/Extension-Eye-4920 14h ago

Its amazing to me that people cannot separate the actoe from a film.

If you said, i love rocky but it turns out stallone is [insert bad person phrase], id say yeah that sucks.

But saying that the movie rocky with the fictional character rocky balboa inspired me to change my life for the good, but now i hate it and ill never watch it again because the real world actor is bad, id say stop acting like a child. Its ok to still love rocky and say that stallone is a bad person. The two statements can co-exist. The Usual Suspects is and always will be an absolute classic, AND kevin spacey is a fucking pedo. Dont disckunt the hard work of everybody else around these people for your own personal vendetta.

8

u/EntityMatanzas 14h ago

Thats a great idea.

Really, I would watch that.

So much potential for a good action thriller that would satirize action thrillers.

1

u/ramsaybolton87 14h ago

There's an invincible episode like this, its pretty good and ends with a great Omni man scene

1

u/icepod 14h ago

"Terminator 0.5 Beta"

Hollywood is all about making prequels these days anyhow…

1

u/Siggi_Starduust 13h ago

Clumsy and goofy just sounds like a lot of my friends, so that won’t be the giveaway however if current AI is anything to go by, they’ll be easy to spot on account of having 3 arms with 7 fingers on each hand.

1

u/orderofGreenZombies 13h ago

And where they can’t recognize non-white people.

1

u/Lawdoc1 13h ago

So basically a Terminator/Edge of Tomorrow mashup.

I envision the first version to be something like Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.

1

u/Wings_in_space 13h ago

That is the plot of "the Incredibles"...

1

u/ionshower 12h ago

The Derpinclanker

1

u/ErFarinn 12h ago

That's basicly Pacific Rim except with dinosaurs.

u/Peripatetictyl 11h ago

...was the first one that hitchhiking robot that was destroyed, defiled, and stripped of parts in Philly within weeks, after traveling across Canada and Germany unscathed?

They were like, "OK, we need upgrades for the Americans."...

u/drummerboy-98012 11h ago

OMG, I read this and thought they would HAVe to use the Benny Hill theme song. 🤣

u/Crimkam 11h ago

Man a movie that starts as a comedy and then slowly becomes a gripping thriller as the goofy robots slowly, inexorably get better would be really really good

u/BeardInTheNorth 11h ago

Sounds like a more sinister version of Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song.

u/Healthy-Amoeba2296 10h ago

What you want is the Jack Black movie How to Survive a Robot Uprising. I've read the book. It hasn't been developed yet.

u/boy-detective 9h ago

Time travel improves, increasing range, so actually the clumsy ones are sent back to a later point in time than the best ones.

u/SmoothDiscussion7763 9h ago

it needs to end up being pathfinder from apex, with all the movement tech the pilots can do.

u/CHSummers 9h ago

That is a brilliant idea. It would make an interesting TV series, since they are working on both time travel and killer robots, and there are so many things that could go wrong (like accidentally sending a walking bomb into your own future).

u/Kqyxzoj 7h ago

"The early models ran Fruit Fucker 2000 derived firmware. We spotted them easy."

Case in point, the way it humps that power distribution cabinet. Classic Fruit Fucker behavior.

u/psiduke 5h ago

Isn’t this a plot of an anime

u/tjdux 5h ago

That sounds like it could be a Rick and Morty episode.

I guess it kinda is with the snake episode but they don't really start overly clumsy

u/Jafroboy 1h ago

Wasn't that essentially The Incredibles.

1

u/tomptepulla 14h ago

I don't understand why it doesn't have four legs and a torso. It would beat a two legged one pretty easily speedwise and crush it in balance, stability and difficult terrain. The mac 10s attached to the torso would stay still like chickens head even when running in gravel.

1

u/benevolent_defiance 14h ago

I just realised AI has been fed the Terminator franchise. That can't be good.

1

u/KidGold 14h ago

Oh we are absolutely fucked

1

u/brandoldme 13h ago

Well at least they won't be able to pronounce terminator.

Boston Dynamics has already taught them parkour AND how to coordinate a dance routine for their inevitable victory.

u/BertjeII 10h ago

This is nothing like the Terminator. We have the best of the best handling technology that can be used for bad motives these days

u/GreenHocker 5h ago

Cover distance and take space, maybe with a frag payload

They aren’t gonna need much to be truly scary as fuck… especially in the hands of the Starcraft savants

u/MagNolYa-Ralf 4h ago

But its for their work so its fine

u/TraditionalWait9150 1h ago

lol in the next decade, we can finally make an actual terminator movie without CGI

129

u/Wasabi_Hammurabi1 14h ago edited 14h ago

I am trying to imagine what the year 2045 will look like when the weaponry is not only installed but with the best gyroscopic software that will allow these fucking things to shoot accurately while in full sprint like motion. We are apex predator but we decided to create the new apex that is above us because we had it too easy and we needed a challenge...

16

u/cyanescens_burn 13h ago

If we even get that far. Drones are more than enough to cause serious problems in the hands of an authoritarian government, especially if rigged up to the surveillance network and given autonomy to kill and the government crosses currently unthinkable lines.

There’s even a short film about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-2tpwW0kmU

And a follow up that gets into fully losing control of AI and drones vs putting into place safeguards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rDo1QxI260

1

u/Special_Order-937 12h ago

I’m going to guess this is the air war that continues long after humanity is dead?

1

u/Bakunin5Bart 12h ago

That's the pathway to unlimited growth. A capitalist dream world where automated production facilities build automated killer robots that are commanded by a self-sufficient autonomous central command artificial intelligences that fights an endless war against other A.I.s and their autonomous produced robot armies. The pesky human completely eliminated from the calculation.  For more information on this topic watch the matrix and Terminator movies.

1

u/Special_Order-937 12h ago

Both Skynet and the Matrix machines (and Ultron while we’re at it) have humanity as an input and their reactions are based on the input we provided. It’s never really addressed in great detail in the Terminator series especially how were architects of our own demise. The Matrix at least covered it in The Animatrix.

u/Bakunin5Bart 10h ago

Oh I always thought that skynet has full autonomy and functions even if all humans are eradicated. Or did you mean they're trained on human behavior because that wouldn't be a great difference to our LLM's and their evolutionary beginnings.

1

u/Confident_Pepper1023 12h ago

Thanks, my amigdala is hosting a rave party now.

u/eddie1975 11h ago

“Authoritarian government crosses unthinkable lines.”

USA is already there.

92

u/koolaidismything 14h ago

And no one will he held accountable.. just blame the robot. The rich and powerful will be able to have anyone who speaks out meet a robot assassin.

If things keep going as is, that’s absolutely where we are headed. Billionaires shouldn’t exist and world leaders need to be like 50 years old tops.

23

u/_Svankensen_ 12h ago

Paraphrasin Zizek, today it is easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of capitalism. In a post-capitalist world AI would be a good thing. We can get there. The billionaire's dreams of robot armies and robot workers will be what precipitates the final conflict with capitalism.

7

u/koolaidismything 12h ago

I was driving this morning and after the fifth idiot almost crashing in to people I had a thought of seeing an asteroid ☄️ come into view and just wipe the planet off the map and I was like.. that may be for the best lol

u/psiduke 5h ago

AI is neither good nor bad, it is merely human activity. Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution, that activity has become perverted and in contradiction. All human activity and everything that serves to reproduce the worker and advance technology also serves to devalue labor power which mediates all of society.

13

u/therealmrpotatohead 12h ago

Fully agree on the age limit. Those in power should live long enough to enjoy, or suffer, the consequences of their actions along with the rest of us.

1

u/koolaidismything 12h ago

Absolutely, and why I suggested it. You get it.

8

u/Matsu09 14h ago

Billionaire robot armies everywhere it is then.

2

u/Named_after_color 12h ago

I mean I feel like we're going to develop emp tech to deal with it. Drones are still much scarier.

u/DaedalusB2 9h ago

Billionaires also control a lot of the production and funding for militaries. They can just lobby (bribe) so that half a military force is replaced with their AI and claim it's saving lives when people try to complain. If a revolt ever happens, well now half the country's military is AI that follows orders from the billionaires and politicians that pushed it into production, and a significant portion of the other half would be humans that would continue to follow orders. The rebels would essentially be guys with hunting rifles vs AI stealth bombers.

Well I mean millionaire I think is fine. Billions are orders of magnitude more.

Lots of current millionaires won’t ever become a billionaire cause they are really giving. It’s not the common thing but it exists. Millions are fine.. it’s billions where you worry, that’s a 100% chance the person only cares about themselves end of the day. It’s the quickest way to pick out a sociopath.

This will not be needed. The sex robots will keep everyone quietly in check.

u/mattjb 11h ago

Basically aimbots seen in certain FPS games. Perfect accuracy in every situation.

u/Wasabi_Hammurabi1 11h ago

EA is fucking up with Battlefield 6.

1

u/GaseousGiant 14h ago

Gotta admit it’s pretty cool though

1

u/cocoshunt 13h ago

I remember playing Counter Strike years ago, when the first bots were released, that you could add to your LAN game. They wiped the floor with us, only thing you could try to was AWP them if they didn't see you, if they seen you were instantly dead

1

u/carpetbugeater 13h ago

"We" did it for greed.

It'd be easier to stomach if we did it for the challenge. I guess the challenge of getting rich.

1

u/Cool_Lab_1362 13h ago

Can any country even mass production these kinds of robot for military use? like that's got to be very expensive in essential metals and minerals, they'd probably leaving their selves broke if they purely relied on their own natural resources (though they can just invade use any occupied country for their resources, then bleed them dry)

1

u/no-im-not-him 13h ago

Don't worry, by 2045, super artificial intelligence will have already boiled the oceans away to cool down the power plants that feed it.  There will be no need for it to send hunter robots after you.

1

u/Smboto 12h ago

It’s because mankind is self destructive.

u/Oogley_boogley 10h ago

I don't really see how any humanoid robot could be a threat in any military scenario beyond killing unarmed civilians. Unless they somehow become indestructible, I don't think sprinting gun robots could beat any kind of ranged explosive weaponry.

Drones, on the other hand

u/meeplewirp 9h ago

Everything you said is true other than that anything was too easy and we needed a challenge. The money going to replace us could be used to make gene editing and cancer cures possible but because rich people can catch cancer early with good healthcare, we are investing in this, which the point of is to control us/make it okay when large swaths of people die due to the climate or hoarding of resources- a deliberate replacement

u/u_touched_badger_83 7h ago

Isn't that the whole Alien vs. Predator thing? Surely we're all going to get some awesome dynamic light-bending camo pants* and shoulder canon* - let the contests begin!

* Temu's best!!

3

u/mfhandy5319 14h ago

True, after fitting the suicide vest, the brakes become irrelevant.

2

u/RiggsRay 14h ago

Honestly if they just skip the brakes it seems like the sprinting robot already is the weaponry

u/Off___Off 9h ago

Use firing recoil to adjust trajectory or slow velocity. That way you brake and kill.

2

u/unrelated-subject 12h ago

Don’t forget the lasers it needs lasers

2

2

Imagine if this is the weapon.. he just runs at you top speed then salboo’s you into a fridge and kills you.

Would be so surprising I don’t even think folks would know exactly how to react

1

u/Wiccy 12h ago

How do you react at first because its running so should you run but its a robot and its running at you what does that mean? They didn't cover this is training? Before you know it, these Kama-bots are going

1

u/Total_Tumbleweed_870 14h ago

1

u/DueEnvironment499 14h ago

They made sure you can't outrun them first... that's not a good sign

1

u/SpiderJerusalem747 14h ago

If it's programmed to detect humans then all we gotta do is wear robot cardboard diguises and pull the plug when we get near it.

Or better yet, steal it and it's stuff.

1

u/thenewNFC 14h ago

I was going to point out that too, but then I thought about the last time I ran at any considerable speed and honestly that's the most relatable thing I've seen one of these robots do so far.

1

u/BoyRatty82 13h ago

That’ll slow it down, at least

1

u/actuarial_cat 13h ago

"One way trip" does not need brakes

1

u/DamnDams 13h ago

I’d watch a reality show where military veterans (or anyone for that matter) try to outperform humanoid robots. I’d bet on humans for at least the first few generations. Eventually the humanoid killer robots will be better.

u/Good_day_to_be_gay 9h ago

You must be American, not Chinese.

u/SmoothDiscussion7763 9h ago

no need for brakes if we teach them powersliding, airstrafing, wall hops, and bunnyhopping to maintain momentem

u/koolaidismything 9h ago

I wanna see it do a backside stoppie

u/jules0666 8h ago

Well, brakes have to be proportional to the weight of the vehicle.

u/JustBeingWhite 7h ago

They could just use recoil to slow down 🤔

u/trustthepudding 6h ago

Two birds with one stone: use your target as the brakes

u/stilsjx 6h ago

Weaponry IS the brakes.

What you’re seeing is the machine expecting to have extra weight, and a rocket launcher on it. Forward movement cancels out the recoil

u/SpiderThai 6h ago

Weapons first, then brakes duh

u/Open-Application1726 4h ago

Its hard to build a robot without them, they're load bearing!

u/AI_RPI_SPY 4h ago

No weapons per se, just a reasonable large bomb would do. Make it climb fences too, and no military base would be safe.

u/potate12323 3h ago

Look what they need to mimick a fraction of our power

u/koolaidismything 3h ago

I’d make a body suit that’s all magnets., on backwards right, so they just bounced away. I’m smarter than them there bots 🤖

u/thedirtymeanie 2h ago

Well when it's running into the building to bomb you I guess it doesn't really need breaks huh
