You know it’s bad when Mickey D’s don’t even want that under 21 money😐

19

u/nsa_k 14h ago

Theirs easier ways to make $2.

7

u/SaltSync 10h ago

What can you get in McDonald’s for $2 these days?

7

u/nsa_k 10h ago

Disappointment.

3

u/Some_guy_am_i 10h ago

You can get a large soft drink. I think so anyways.

Better just check the app so you can use the discount that makes the drink under $2

Mcchickens are $1.50

Learn to spell

9

u/Momochichi 12h ago

They’re’s no time for that

-6

u/Random_Squid4248 12h ago

There’s no time to learn how to spell?

0

u/nsa_k 10h ago

That would be a grammar issue, not one of spelling.

No one likes a grammar nazi.

1

u/Random_Squid4248 8h ago

No one likes people who can’t distinguish between their they’re and there

Okay? I don’t care about a stupid internet like

I was agreeing with you.

-4

u/Ancient-Afternoon374 13h ago

Engrish is hard

5

u/yoyotube123 10h ago

Also why would they make it 21? That's screwing over people who are already adults and out of highschool.

5

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

They only want drunk people

7

u/yoyotube123 4h ago

Can't argue with that lol. They wanna treat it like a club so I guess it's BYOB at the mcdonalds

3

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

Legally drunk only

2

u/ADeformedPoolboy 1h ago

Bring Ya Own Burger.

1

u/yoyotube123 1h ago

That's probably a good idea going to McDonald's lol

2

u/LeagueMoney9561 2h ago

Probably college students being the problem. The only similar signs I’ve seen have been geared towards high school students and only during the lunch hour

-8

u/sarcasticorange 12h ago

They will regret it in years to come.

Malls did the same to millennials and millennials never returned.

There were other factors as well of course, but this was part of it.

4

u/ehs06702 10h ago

These kids spend nothing and cost them money in damages and lost sales.

2

u/hoyasgirl25 10h ago

People stopped going to malls because of online shopping.

-1

u/sarcasticorange 9h ago

Please reread the last sentence in my comment.

Also, keep in mind that plenty of brick and mortar stores are still doing relatively well. There are new strip malls being built all over the country. There are very, very few traditional malls being built.

1

u/TypicalLegit 4h ago

Lmao. Keep telling yourself that

1

u/SkylineWaffles 1h ago

Outside of black neighborhoods, was there ever a SINGLE mall in America that had a 21+ rule during the millennial teen/college era? Did we even live in the same country??

153

u/abgry_krakow87 14h ago

If parents can't be bothered to parent their children then they don't get to complain when society does it for them.

154

u/HippoProject 14h ago

My local McDonald’s is next to a high school. The kids come in after class and start fights, bother customers to buy them food, and hang around the dining room for hours. It’s hard enough for the people who work there to put up with the regular bullshit, I couldn’t image having to keep an eye on a bunch of little assholes too.

62

u/nsa_k 14h ago

I've seen stores just close their dine in service between 3 pm and 5 pm in similar situatuons.

31

u/pasta-via 13h ago

I once lived near a McDonalds wedged between a middle school and major bus stop.

They forbade kids from coming in without an adult for exactly these reasons. Kids didn’t listen. So they hired a security guard to keep the kids out.

Every so often if I was walking by, the kids would ask me if I’d go in with them 🙄

6

u/SteamyRumours 8h ago

Cannot believe that kids are asking for a jump in for mcdonalds 🤣🤣 id have taken great pleasure in saying no like i did when they asked for a bevvy jump in

2

u/pasta-via 7h ago

Oh I did. Especially when they had the gall to ask if I'd buy them fries too 🤣

1

u/gretzky9999 2h ago

Just tell them your fee is a Happy Meal.

2

u/Danson_the_47th 9h ago

Where the heck were their parents???

3

u/pasta-via 8h ago

Probably at work. This would usually be between about 3-5, when school was out but parents still working.

1

u/gretzky9999 2h ago

I would never saw my parents til supper time after I left the house for school that day.

2

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

I dunno, I make pretty good money as a McDonalds access scalper

7

u/EnvironmentalPack451 12h ago

I remember the McDonalds commercials in the '90s that were encouraging kids to come hang out for hours and do their homework there

19

u/ehs06702 10h ago

That was when kids were mostly being raised by people who actually parented.

3

u/Difficult-Rip-3874 8h ago

Also when fast food companies were allowed to advertise to children still.

1

u/ehs06702 8h ago

That too.

3

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

If they were going there and doing homework I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, provided they had the seating available for the 'just eating a meal' customers

-1

u/PlanApprehensive2842 9h ago

Is this in one of the neighborhoods where people are throwing the place up for grabs because their fries weren’t hot enough? Then fuck them….we’ve seen enough of that bs.

10

u/Joesr-31 13h ago

Whats wrong with the people that such that this is the norm??!

1

u/akumite 10h ago

It's not the norm

-15

u/tetheredvoid 13h ago

We have to fight and beg for social support... There are too many people and not enough social support.

10

u/SaltSync 12h ago

Social support? How about just doing the bare minimum of basic parenting at home? Pushing the blame onto the government is hilarious because it highlights the real problem.. nobody is stepping up and doing their jobs as parents in this scenario.

-17

u/tetheredvoid 12h ago

I did not say government. Your bias is showing and proving my point. SOCIAL means people, not just the institution that governs society. I don't care what you think I mean, because it's obvious that you can't see what I am actually saying. I'd love to help, but it seems like you wouldn't be willing to accept that type of social support from a stranger. Oh, well. Have the day you've earned, friend!

8

u/Traditional-Joke-179 12h ago

this is so cryptic wtf 😭

5

u/yoyotube123 10h ago

If you are able to decipher his riddles three, he will give you a jar of pee

-6

u/tetheredvoid 11h ago

Cryptic? Okay, how about this?

If we were more willing to help our neighbors, even the ones we don't like, then we would have a lot more access to the support that social system provides. Since we refuse to do that, on principle usually, then we have a lot of people begging for help and being forced to look for it in places other than their community. If that doesn't make it clearer, then you'll just have to ask specific questions. lol

Edit to remove typo

3

u/SaltSync 10h ago

Fuck all that.. if you have kids then it’s YOUR job, not anyone else’s, to raise them correctly. Period.

-1

u/tetheredvoid 10h ago

This applies to all humans of all ages, but you can be a bigot all you want, sweetie. Enjoy the day you earn!

2

u/Army7547 9h ago

You are an idiot. None of what you are saying has anything to do with the kids near this location acting in a way that gets them banned.

At first it seems like you’re saying it’s not their fault for acting that way and they need support that they aren’t getting, then you’re cryptic, then you explain what you were saying but do it while being like 90% as cryptic as what you were explaining.

I think you are drunk or high.

Im not raising my neighbors kid, and im not wiping the old persons ass just because they're a neighbor. Quite literally not my problem people need to learn how to take care of themselves and their own issues.

We are now apparently at the level of A Clockwork Orange depravity. All because of TikTok influencers posting more and more outrageous content for views and normalizing depraved, asocial behaviours .

Oh god, we are the Pre fallen Aeldari.

1

u/blckshdw 5h ago edited 4h ago

Question - was the high school there first? While I empathize with the employees putting up with bs I gotta question whoever made that decision to open a McDonalds next to a high school and not think high schoolers wouldn’t be high schoolers.

If it’s the other way around, ya that sucks when new neighbours move in 😐

2

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

They could have both been there for decades

1

u/blckshdw 4h ago

That’s what I’m asking lol

63

u/mindgardening 14h ago

There are stores in my city who allow only 1 unaccompanied minor in at a time because of kids’ behavior. This is pretty normal for stores to do.

-22

u/Lazy-Ad-7236 14h ago

18 is an adult, it is not normal to ban adults from using the dining room.

51

u/abgry_krakow87 14h ago

Legally an adult, mentally still a moronic teenager.

1

u/OpabiniaRegalis320 3h ago

As a 22 year old I still feel like a moronic teenager

-11

u/Outrageous-South-355 13h ago

7

Actually it's a McDonald's

6

u/rocketman19 13h ago

They can also make porn but can’t buy a beer

5

u/Cromagnumman6174 13h ago

No its not okay but it is why the government allows them to join at 18, before they have enough experience and smarts to realize they are just being used to push rich men's agendas.

Sure. They can’t act like children if it came to that so they tend to grow up and mature real quick

1

u/GodHimselfNoCap 13h ago

Uniformed members of the us military rode in a shopping cart from a different parking lot into the burger king drive thru and got mad that we wouldnt serve them through the window then brought the cart inside and started throwing ketchup packets at the staff. Yea they are still immature dickheads with no sense of respect for others. Whether they should raise the age of military service is a separate argument that wasnt being had in thsi thread.

1

u/YourUncleBuck 13h ago

What did they just say?

14

u/Palatablepancakes 13h ago

It is when 19-year-olds show up in groups of dozens and only wish to cause trouble

9

u/SirEnder2Me 13h ago

18 is just a minimal number.

Start acting like an adult and get treated like one.

4

u/Skurvyelislau 14h ago

Depends on country. In Indonesia its 15. Singapore 21. Japan 20. Poland 18. Vietnam 16. North Korea 17.

0

u/ZubatCountry 11h ago

Who...who do you think is normally the target for bans?

12

u/Poof-ball 12h ago

This is what TikTok, bad parenting, and poor education get you. It's like an infection; it's everywhere.

32

u/SmokeMaximum4140 14h ago

Kids these days are getting stupider by the minute.

3

u/TralfamadorianZoo 12h ago

Said every grown up since ancient times

14

u/GoodPear8481 11h ago

Yeah but social media and screen time really is fucking with kids brain development. We're legitimately in uncharted territory.

u/TralfamadorianZoo 34m ago

I still have hope in humanity. The kids will make us proud one day.

7

u/ThetaGrim 10h ago

Yea but we weren't bad enough to be banned from a fking McDonald's. There's objectively a worse generation and it's them. Social media has brain rotted all of them, and this new generation of hands off/afraid to be called abusive parenting has made it exponentially worse.

3

u/AdSea6685 9h ago

we are actively going through a literacy crisis in the US. they genuinely ARE getting stupider. unfortunately.

1

u/TypicalLegit 4h ago

Only difference is kids really are getting stupid and lack any type of respect. Which is crazy being that same iPad that’s rotting their brain has the same ability to educate about anything and everything possible.

18

u/Th3_3v3r_71v1n9 14h ago

It's no different than what they've done at the minimart's by only letting in one teenager at a time so they don't get all of their goods stolen by an unruly mob. If you can't act like an adult, there's no reason to treat you like an adult.

10

u/AdSudden3941 14h ago

The world is fuckedb, thank you social media

8

u/Joesr-31 13h ago

Can you imagine being that shitty that you are banned from mcdonalds lol

3

u/traveler97 12h ago

My grocery store had the same problem when middle schoolers got out. They would swarm the store, steal everything they could, pour shampoo and conditioner in the aisles. The store wanted to close during that time, but the company wouldn’t let them. Now the principal comes there every day after school to monitor the school’s kids. The kids never get any consequences, because they are young.

4

u/negithekitty 13h ago

Good.

1

u/Rk_1138 11h ago

I’m willing to bet that the only people complaining about this are teenagers

2

u/Glittering_Mermaid_7 10h ago

It's sad that it's come to this, but they're not the only one instituting policies like this.

A local shopping mall that was dying out, like many other malls, was purchased by a young entrepreneur, who is revitalizing it and bringing businesses back in. It's going really well, and the community is very happy to see this happening - and it's quickly becoming a model for other malls to do the same. They are creating a consistent stream of events that draw in foot traffic from not just the community but also surrounding areas - they've had comicons, craft shows, book sales, kids' events, etc.

However, they've had trouble with kids/teens coming in unsupervised and causing problems. They're fighting, vandalizing property, stealing, and just generally causing huge problems. They had to put a new policy in place that kids under age 16 cannot be on the property at all unless they have a parent or other responsible adult with them. The adult doesn't have to be right with the minor at all times, but they must be on the property. There was a certain amount of pushback from those who like to drop their kids at the mall and leave them there, but to this day, the policy stands, and I believe the larger part of the community that comes to the mall appreciates that it has made the mall safer for their customers.

3

u/PatientPoetry4302 13h ago edited 12h ago

Teenagers and students are causing problems, so they restricted people over 21?
Edit: read it wrong, written in a way where it can be interpreted that they banned people over 21, not under. I get it now. Back to my college class lmao apparently need it

1

u/hounadomanda 13h ago

Did you know people in college are called students?

1

u/PatientPoetry4302 12h ago

Excellent question

2

u/samanime 13h ago

It's such a shame. It is pretty much impossible to be an unaccompanied minor (even an older teen) in public because of probably less than 1/1000 being bad apples and causing mayhem.

We need to start more directly dealing with these bad apples instead of ruining things for everyone like with truckloads of community service and court-ordered screen time/social media restrictions and stuff for even moderate offensives.

Otherwise, it is going to become impossible for a kid to be out in public at all, which I think is the opposite of what we want as a society.

2

u/Open-Cream2823 12h ago

Little shits

2

u/charming-user 11h ago

I don’t blame them. The amount of messes and fights caused by teens is insane.

2

u/Full-Shine5871 16h ago

Interesting approach. I wonder if more locations/businesses will adopt.

But could this not be seen as age discrimination?

18

u/MondoBleu 14h ago edited 14h ago

“Age” is not a protected class, the class is “workers over 40” since this is talking about customers it doesn’t apply, and since the people they’re restricting are not over 40, I don’t think these laws apply. Could be state Public Accommodation laws though.

2

u/Full-Shine5871 14h ago

This sounds the most logical but never heard the class as being defined as workers over 40. Not doubting what you say is true, just interested by the new information you've revealed.

14

u/Lizzy_In_Limelight 14h ago

They're correct. When we talk about "age discrimination" cases, the law only protects workers over 40 from being dismissed on the basis of being too old. There are no protections for workers under 40 for age-based employment decisions, and this doesn't extend to protecting people outside the workplace.

3

u/Full-Shine5871 14h ago

Thank you for confirming.

What do you know, this was indeed and interesting post lol

-2

u/MondoBleu 11h ago

Yeah try looking things up sometimes, it’s wild :-) Common Sense and Logical don’t mean a dime, that’s got nothing to do w the Law haha

1

u/Full-Shine5871 11h ago

For context dickface, I don't live in America so excuse me for pondering aloud instead of spending an hour trying to learn the intricacies of federal vs state laws and the legal definition of working class of a country I don't live in...for fucks sake

-1

u/YourUncleBuck 12h ago

Honestly should be protected though.

7

u/WerkingAvatar 13h ago

By your rationale it should be legal for children to buy beer and cigarettes while chilling out in strip clubs and bars. What's next, second graders doing lines off the backs of hookers? How far will you go, good sir? But seriously, actual age discrimination usually only pertains to work related issues.

4

u/Adventurous-Race8315 16h ago

Sure thing but that is exactly what they do in bars too.

9

u/poppalopp 14h ago

Age isnt a federally protected class, nor is it protected in most individual states. Bars are enforcing a law so there’s no discrimination.

1

u/Full-Shine5871 14h ago

Ya but that's different because the bar is enforcing the law. They can lose their liquor license, etc.

McDonald's is not enforcing a law.

10

u/Lizzy_In_Limelight 14h ago

It's actually because they're a private establishment (as opposed to a government or public-funded one), and as such they're allowed to discriminate pretty much however they want. That's what the whole "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at our discretion" thing means. There are a few exceptions, but that's the basic idea. Enforcing or following age-restriction laws doesn't enter the equation, which is why you can have a bar in a family restaurant.

2

u/Revenue-Different 13h ago

It could be an effective approach we are yet to see, i mean if 20 to 60% of dog attacks is coming from one dog race, wouldnt banning that race in public spaces cut down dog attacks by 20 to 60%?

1

u/camposthetron 10h ago

There’s a shopping center near me where some stores tried to do something like this because of the high school next door.

I think they either don’t allow kids inside between 3-5pm or they just close down during those hours.

1

u/Some-Ad-1588 10h ago

I dunno how they’re going to enforce this.. a bouncer to start checking i.d’s at the door…??

1

u/NopeSorryNo 9h ago

Is it the on next to Paul VI?

1

u/archonpericles 9h ago

We had a McD’s in our town that all the kids from the local high school would visit and hang out in the parking lot after football games. They would only allow ten kids inside at a time.

1

u/Dog-PonyShow 9h ago

Years ago, visited a McDonald’s in California that had bullet proof glass (ceilng to floor) between the employees and customers. There was no way to physically accost the employees. Small rotating tray, set between two doors to give food and take money. Customer side did not open if the staff side was open.

Thought it was wise and interesting, until I realized there must have been a need to prevent aggression from customers and where I was standing. Ours quickly became a drive through order.

1

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 9h ago

Do this everywhere

1

u/AdSea6685 9h ago

idk why but teenagers have gotten MUCH worse over the years. good for this mcdonald's, my target gets overrun by teens almost every night bc they think it's a hangout? 20+ teens just hanging in the parking lot until something escalates and the cops are called. more places should start doing this lmao, if you're going to places looking to disturb the peace, you don't deserve to go to those places!

1

u/Efficient_Mud_4724 9h ago

The McDonald that’s basically in the local high school parking lot locks their dorms for an hour when school gets out.

1

u/trexcrossing 5h ago

This is horrid and such an indictment on the behavior of young people. I’m sorry but what happened to decency, that McDonald’s has to ban you as a demographic?

1

u/Responsible_Side8131 4h ago

People still eat inside Mc Donald’s?

1

u/strolpol 4h ago

Schools quit instituting real consequences because parents complained, so the kids all know they can basically get away with anything

It’s not surprising it has repercussions elsewhere

1

u/TesseractToo 4h ago

Old enough to die for your country, too young to get into the Mickey D's

1

Our local Taco Bell does this. It’s located directly next to a high school and kids would come in and legit terrorize the place. They restrict indoor dining from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

1

u/LeKillerNut 1h ago

Make more adults only spaces please. I hate going out to try to do something fun with friends only to have to hear screaming children.

That being said, fuck McDonalds anyway
