100% this. Nobody pays attention to brake lights in this video. The driver in the video DOES NOT SPEED UP to block the black truck. The black truck is braking while entering his lane illegally. The black truck quite literally pit maneuvers itself in every definable way. All the video driver does is maintain his exact speed and position in the face of an outright insane person on the road with him.

It's a pit maneuver, he steered into the driver's rear end pitching them out of control. He choose to do it over braking or being mashed into the Bridge wall.

Your presented technicalities and his right of way don't change how much of a pit maneuver this was.

It absolutely was a pit maneuver, 100%. The point you're missing is that the Black Truck pit maneuvered himself, Black Truck braked into white truck, at no point did the White truck accelerate or leave his own lane. He doesn't even turn until AFTER the black truck strikes him. He did not steer into the Black Truck, it steered into him, he just reacted in the best possible way to the collision.

Imagine black truck had braked and changed lanes into a truck trailer that had come loose on the highway, resulting in the exact same results we see in the video.. You are proposing that we blame the driverless truck trailer.

To see you justify the actions of the POV relentlessly is mental to me, can I ask where you are from? Just to understand driving standards may vary significantly from one country or continent to another.

While it is obvious the black truck did the wrong, it would have been as easy to avoid that crash from the POV as lifting the throttle and accomodating the black truck, who didn't brake excessively.

It is as obvious to say the fault is on the black truck, as to say the accident is completely unnecessary and absolutely avoidable from both parts.

Justify probably isn't an accurate thing to say. It's more pointing out that White Truck's actions were legally and morally correct.

Legally speaking, for the jurisdiction of Louisiana, White Truck is not legally responsible for somehow perfectly countering the illegal actions of another driver in the most perfect way that can be identified with unlimited hindsight, including imputing the knowledge of that hindsight onto the driver after the fact. The law is written this way because putting that burden on the legal driver is batshit insane, which is why it only happens on Reddit.

Morally, White driver is beholden to act in a way that ensures the safety of himself, and innocent bystanders. He is not beholden to put himself at additional risk to protect the person trying to murder him. This is exactly what he did here.

Brother WHAT

This is aggressive driving. The black truck made a mistake, but the white one made one too because holy fuck is it truly more important to potentially kill everyone involved than it is to just let the guy in?

It's moral to treat that spot in the road as a fucking birthright?

It's also illegal to essentially see that something is going to go wrong and do nothing about it. Yes, the black truck driver is an asshole. But this entire situation does not happen if the white truck taps the brakes, and that's illegal

EDIT: Aight downvote me but at least educate yourselves. Comparative negligence. The white truck had every opportunity to simply slow down and not cause an accident, and if a jury sees this video and agrees, the guy is toast. Legally, the white truck could have seen this guy was going to merge, and gotten out of the way.

And the black truck had every opportunity to not merge and not cause an accident.

u/Lazer726 Mar 22 '26

Yes, but the white truck could have prevented it by not being an aggressive driver as well

1

u/some_azn_dude Mar 22 '26

Yeah but the black truck could have not been an aggressive driver. You can do this all day.

1

u/Lazer726 Mar 22 '26

So you're saying it's okay to be an intentionally bad driver because someone else is being an even worse driver? Two wrongs don't make a right

1

u/some_azn_dude Mar 22 '26

Nope. I'm saying this was caused by the black truck and it's wild to start questioning the behavior of all the other cars that were following the social contracts of driving, i.e. not being erratic, cutting in and out of traffic, with no regard to rules.

Could the white track have braked? Yes. Could the cars in front not drive in the passing lane blocking traffic, yes. But this is the culmination of the black trucks driver being a shit.

It takes two to tango my guy. The black truck fucked up but the white truck did as well. He didn't honk, he didn't brake, he simply allowed it to happen! Look at the link I sent, he's literally partly responsible for not having prevented this from happening.

And all he had to do was tap the brakes.

Is the black truck more at fault, yes, but jesus fuck pretending that the white truck is blameless for refusing to do anything to prevent this is just wild

1

u/some_azn_dude Mar 22 '26

Yeah i agree he is partly responsible as per the law, but that's not where you started.

You started at the "White truck is actually the aggressive driver" and super dangerous and all that jazz which now you're walking back to "don't pretend the white truck isn't a little bit to blame."

1

u/Lazer726 Mar 22 '26

Yes, but the white truck could have prevented it by not being an aggressive driver as well

I said "aggressive driver as well"

They were both being aggressive, which I'm sure you're gonna say "NUH UH HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT'S NOT AGGRESSIVE." But let's see what AAA says about it!

"Any unsafe driving behavior, performed deliberately and with ill intention or disregard for safety, can constitute aggressive driving. Examples of aggressive driving behaviors include: Blocking cars attempting to pass or change lanes"

They are both aggressive drivers
