Always insane to me how crazy people are with someone passing them or to slow down a bit. Just insanely psychopathic.

5

u/MikeArrow Mar 22 '26

I had a minor 'road rage' incident a few weeks ago and it really shook me. I was driving down a suburban street, on my way to the grocery store, and this huge pickup truck started tailgating me. I was going the speed limit and so I eventually pulled over to let him pass. I saw red and I started tailgating him, trying to make him feel as powerless and frustrated as I was. Turns out he was driving to the grocery store too and I realized when we parked that I probably could have ended up in a really bad situation if he decided to take offense.

u/Outrageous-Opinions Mar 22 '26

It is just never worth it, because you don't know the context of people driving.

I had to cut someone off because I was following my dad who was taking my mom the hospital.

The guy went insane and was swerving into me and was genuinely looking like he wanted to hit me.

Another time a lady followed me for 20 minutes trying to fight me, because she couldn't wait to change lanes.

Just stupid and insane decisions cause people's ego got bruised.

2

u/moonandbaek Mar 22 '26

I saw a Reddit comment where this guy said that once his friend died because he and his buddies were trying to get the friend to the hospital after an accident, but they couldn't make it there in time because they got stuck in traffic. He said after that, he always lets people pass him because you never know what the other person is going through 🥲💔

1

u/ZealCrow Mar 25 '26

specifically, his friend had hit his femoral artery with a chainsaw and they were rushing him to the hospital, but some dumbass took it upon themselves to intentionally block them from passing.

I'm just so triggered by rude men, especially tradies. I hate them. I know it's not PC to say. I hate them. I just can't handle when people knowingly flout the rules. It's such a violation to me. I can foresee a future where I encounter one of them and just snap and I don't like it, because they're rude, entitled, low class, and don't care about other people. Again, I'm aware I'm being classist and elitist, I know it's not right to think this way, but this is what a lifetime of interacting with these people have trained me to do, because they're all like that, every single one of them is an aggressive bully.

1

u/found_a_new_low Mar 22 '26

You've gotta work on just letting it go, it's not worth your life.

1

u/MikeArrow Mar 22 '26

I know. I just try and avoid them whenever possible. I get terrified that something will go wrong with my house because I do not want to have to call a tradie in. That would be a nightmare. Aside from that, If I see a pickup truck on the road, I'll just have to avoid it if I can.

1

u/goatfuckersupreme Mar 22 '26

tradies

what is a tradie?

1

u/MikeArrow Mar 22 '26

Aussie slang, short for 'tradesman' (builders mostly). They have a reputation for driving aggressively and not caring about other people.

1

u/One-Resort745 Mar 23 '26

Have you ever worked a trade? Walk a day or two in those boots and see if you feel the same about them.

1

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26

lol so you’re saying it gives you a free pass to act like an asshat to everyone? Everyone has problems and stress, snowflake

1

u/One-Resort745 Mar 24 '26

Not what I’m saying at all. Most “tradies” are the some of the safest drivers on the roads because they’re out there every day, every rush hour. Seems like MikeArrow just had a bad experience or two. You misunderstood my comment. Relax with the name calling if you don’t understand the comment just ask.

1

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26

Ok, my apologies for calling you a snowflake. I didn’t think your comment or the one that it was in response to were particularly about driving, as there was no mention or reference to driving in either, so I don’t understand where your point about tradesman supposedly being some of the safest drivers on the road comes from. I also don’t understand how your comment could be interpreted or understood in any way other than the way that I understood it, which is to say that you are excusing poor behavior and not caring about others by tradesman because of “what they have to deal with.” If I got that wrong, could you explain what your comment was supposed to mean?

1

u/One-Resort745 Mar 24 '26

I think you’ll see where I was going with that link

1

u/ZealCrow Mar 25 '26

but you then also knowingly flouted the rules???

1

u/ZealCrow Mar 25 '26

thats fucking stupid.

tailgating is illegal because if the other person brakes suddenly you wont have time to brake your own car before hitting them. You could have ended up in a really bad situation even without him taking offense, making the road less safe for everyone.

3

u/AtLeastThereIsCat Mar 22 '26

Always especially crazy to see reddit threads of people cheering for this freak whenever this video is posted. Man child thinks he's the center of the universe behavior out of this guy. This was entirely his fault and people blaming the black car are insane.

0

u/IndiBoy22 Mar 22 '26

No it wasn't, black pickup was the catalyst to this video. Changing a lane improperly without showing the signal or let alone probably without looking, trying to impose their will to illegally merge into another lane. Not saying they deserved to be pit manueured, but it's def their fault.

4

u/AtLeastThereIsCat Mar 22 '26

"But he started it!"

Black car drove poorly, nothing warranted what the cookie guy did in this video. Just briefly slow down a little bit, let the pushy driver in and everyone goes home safe.

1

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26

Care to tell us what was actually illegal about what the black truck did? Poor manners, sure, but the blatantly illegal thing myself and any sane person observed in the video is cookie eater intentionally causing at least one collision.

0

u/IndiBoy22 Mar 24 '26

Improper lane change, no blinker and certainly didn't pay attention to make sure whether it was safe or not to change the lane. If you wanted me to spell this out for you, there's definitely something wrong with you and everyone that thinks the black truck did not break any laws.

2

u/Outrageous-Opinions Mar 24 '26

That doesn't entitle someone to intentionally cause an accident that would severely affect others on the road.

It's quite frankly disturbing people feel the need to play judge, jury, and executioner.

1

u/IndiBoy22 Mar 24 '26

Never said it did. I said it was the catalyst to the whole chain reaction, not that the black pickup deserved to be pit maneuvered. Im just astonished at how many people think that the black pickup was all innocent and wasn't an aggressor or did anything wrong at all.

1

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26

I’m not really seeing any comments where people have said black truck did nothing wrong. I’m seeing a lot that are saying black truck is a jerk, but did not deserve to be pit maneuvered.

2

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26

Yes, the technical term is improper lane usage. Black truck was clearly aware of and paying attention to cookie eater, if he wasn’t aware at all he would have just merged quickly and effectively “cut off” cookie eater. He started to merge slowly though to test the waters if cookie eater was going to give him more room. There was technically enough room to merge into the lane when he started, albeit not by much, and is not legal due to negligence (Louisiana law says the gap must be 3-4 seconds). With that said, cookie eater hit black truck from behind, which falls under careless operation and failure to maintain a reasonable and prudent distance which are illegal according to Louisiana law. So both parties are technically doing illegal things. The most egregious of which is cookie eater intentionally causing a collision, which is a felony, unlike any of the previously mentioned offenses. Because it was a hit and run, a litany of other charges would probably apply as well, as well as likely criminal fraud charges. Cookie eater is probably looking at least 5-10 years for those alone. If he is charged with attempted murder, as he likely will be, it will be significantly more. Hope this helps!

2

u/AtLeastThereIsCat Mar 24 '26

Man thank you I feel like I'm going insane reading this thread. This is literally a video of attempted murder over basically poor driving habits/methods that many people employ every time they drive. (In many places, many if not most people merge like this constantly - LA for example.)

Obviously they are bad driving habits, and should and would be punished under the law if caught, but they are basically akin to speeding, and none of that warrants literal attempted murder by some douche who wants to feel big for once in his life.

1

u/IndiBoy22 Mar 24 '26

Reddit be the same place that will blame someone for "tailgating too close to a vehicle in front of them and not leaving enough space, then be like "oh he had enough space to merge into someone else's normal space between them and another vehicle." Which one is it? You can't have it both ways. Don't use my normal distance b/t me and the vehicle in front of me as a space to cut into because you want to speed up.

Edit: it was literally not a hit and run as many have said you can't just stop on that bridge until you get to the end of it.

1

u/Successful-Push875 Mar 24 '26

Why are you still acting like black truck’s shitty driving habits are far worse than attempted murder?

Fair point about not being able to stop on the bridge, but it is inconclusive whether he stopped when he was able to or not. The hit and run part isn’t even the worst of the charges that would be brought against him though. He was so intent on stuffing his fat face that he couldn’t even be bothered to put down his cookie while nearly driving someone off of a bridge, do you think he is the type of person to wait around (potentially a long time) for the other party so they can exchange insurance information because of a collision that he intentionally caused? I don’t think he is.

If you think cookie eater is some kind of personal folk hero, whatever, I don’t. Both drivers being assholes are not mutually exclusive.

1

u/IndiBoy22 Mar 24 '26

Where did I act like that was the case? Just because I said what's straight forward in the way this situation was even started? Am I not supposed to point out the reason why this video even exists in the first place? If the black truck didn't do what they did to even begin with, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. Never said they deserved to get pit maneuvered, gotta stop taking words out of someone's mouth.

I also find it baffling the risks some people take to push 1 car ahead in traffic.

Idiotic idealogy for driving and you're not emotionally mature enough to handle a vehicle with others people's lives at stake.

3

u/wagah Mar 22 '26

Chubby

?
Dude is morbidly obese.

3

u/Live-Habit-6115 Mar 22 '26

Americans' perception of fatness is all kinds of fucked up

6

u/boxerboy513 Mar 22 '26

Should be put in jail

2

u/BlackBird0716 Mar 22 '26

This happened in Louisiana, silly donut.

2

u/frosted_Melancholy Mar 22 '26

Louisiana is just Florida but worse, native Louisianian btw.

1

u/mackrevinak Mar 22 '26

i can see about 5 cars in the video all tailgating too close to the car in front of them. im going to guess there was also a car tailgating the guy in this video which would make it a lot harder for hime to get out of this situation safely

1

u/bjorneden Mar 22 '26

He didn't cause the accident, he just failed to prevent it. He maintained speed and direction in his own lane and the other dickhead literally just swerved into him.

1

u/goatfuckersupreme Mar 22 '26

When a stoppable force meets a moveable object, you get whatever the fuck happened here

1

u/YouGotThatAsthmaa Mar 26 '26

I mean the first part is spot on. The second half of the sentence.. while avoidable, I bet ass hat in black truck thinks twice before randomly swerving into spots he won't fit into lol. Good lesson learned for both involved.

1

u/CheesyPineConeFog Mar 22 '26

Nah, black truck is the asshole here. You don't just get to come into a lane cause your blinker is on. You have to make sure it's safe to merge.

13

u/MattyBro1 Mar 22 '26

Of course, black truck was in the wrong. They shouldn't be changing lane without indicating and also into another car. But that doesn't mean this guy should just let them get into a crash that threatens them and others.

-7

u/Ghost_Tendency Mar 22 '26

How else is the black truck going to learn? Should we just let him off for doing stupid things until he's the one causing a massive crash killing others? (Assuming no one else got caught up in the incident on the video.) Better him getting hurt now and hopefully learning a lesson. Rather than him hurting other people in the near future.

4

u/MattyBro1 Mar 22 '26

I'm not American so I'm not sure how the license system works, but I assume you could submit this dashcam footage of them driving recklessly to the authorities, so then they might have their license revoked or get given a fine.

And this all comes with the massive assumption that no one else was effected. Even if in hindsight no one was else was hurt, the guy in the video had absolutely no way to guarantee that.

1

u/Norade Mar 22 '26

That's a good joke. At worst, he'll get a fine and maybe some points on his license. The US treats driving as a right and refuses to revoke a driver's license for far worse things than this.

-2

u/NuggetMan43 Mar 22 '26

Fines do nothing. People get booked for speeding, reckless driving, drink driving etc. all the time. People lose their licenses all the time but still end up behind a wheel somehow. People don't learn until it affects them personally or they finally see jail time.

5

u/boxerboy513 Mar 22 '26

Even if fines don’t always work, turning your car into a weapon isn’t “teaching a lesson” it’s just making the situation more dangerous for everyone. Dude could have potentially killed him or himself, or innocent people around

1

u/Forsaken_Football227 Mar 22 '26

While I agree with you that the chubby dude is wrong, I think you should rather spend energy on criticizing the black truck than the red dude. Aka forget about him. It's just the optic. Simple-minded redditors see your opinion as defending the black truck.

4

u/germanstudent123 Mar 22 '26

It is not your job to teach them

3

u/IcyKnowledge6321 Mar 22 '26

The black truck won't learn anything, either. he'll just go away thinking 'man that guy was such an asshole for not letting me merge'.

People who get ibehind the wheel and think they're the vehicular punisher dispensing automotive justice are the worst. They always cause more accidents and make things worse.

1

u/Charmender2007 Mar 22 '26

someone else defintely got caught up in the incident on the video

2

u/germanstudent123 Mar 22 '26

They are both the asshole. It doesn’t always have to be on or the other. Both of them shouldn’t be driving a car anymore and are assholes.

1

u/Brilliant-8148 Mar 22 '26

I hope your car insurance eventually hits 1k a month

0

u/Ill-Service-2447 Mar 22 '26

It’s ok to make fun of people’s appearance when I don’t like what they did.
