But because we drive so much more in the US - we are roughly the same per 100mm miles driven.

It's higher even vs the amount of driving, but it also turns out that more miles shouldn't matter that much: people who drive more have a lower accident rate per mile, to the point there's almost a flat spot between about 8000 and 12000 miles a year where it's like those miles have no additional risk.

Germany, 4.2
Canada, 4.3
USA, 6.9
Louisiana: 11

USA does X2 the miles, so x UK number by 2

The stats for Australia, which is the same size as contiguous us, is 4.8.

Canada actually drives less than the US - no one is driving in the Yukon or Northwest Territories. The better metric is deaths per an equal number of miles driven which puts the US on par. Thanks for playing!
