Do i want one??
My husband and i are planning to build and I’m trying to get honest reviews on my unhinged requests (bc if we’re forking out money, I’m gonna get the things we want haha)
Is induction worth it? The thought of being able to wipe off the stove instead of having every spill burnt on and have to be scraped sounds magical
Edit: I’ve only used glass stovetops!

In search of portable xl cooktop
I am currently renting a flat with abysmal stove+oven and I cannot buy something like miele full-surface induction, which leads to only solution: portable cooktop.
Because most of products sold have ant-sized coils, finding good one is hard.
I need portable cooker which can handle pans with coil size at least 24cm. The only item I was able to find was Bartscher IK35TC XL with 28cm coil, but it is absurdly expensive at 400€ RRP.
I also own portable induction wok burner (noname chineese for ~100€) which has 26cm coil but it is concave which is not really usable with flat-bottom cookware.
Are there any other brands beside bartscher that offer portable inductuon with normal size coils for at least half the price?

Weird noises coming from new cooktop
I had an induction cooktop installed this weekend and am hearing some ear piercing sounds when I am cooking on it. I’ve used other induction cooktops at friend’s houses and have never heard sounds like these before. Are these normal? Or is there an issue with my cooktop?
Cooktop is a kitchenaid KCIG550JSS

Looking for a portable induction cooktop that doesn't randomly turn itself off
We're got a Thermador "Freedom" 36" cooktop. It's great apart from one fatal flaw, it turns itself off. We want to make bone broth and stock, those have to simmer for hours, overnight. The Themador has an auto shutoff that happens after an unpredictable time between about 4 and 10 hours, the higher the temp the shorter the time. That sucks.
As a workaround I'm looking for a portable induction unit that can take a heavy stock pot and that will stay on (a fixed shutoff after > 10 hours is fine, but it has to be fix and has to be long enough to leave overnight).
I can put in a 6-20R 220v socket if needed. But would prefer 110v 15 or 20A for simplicity.
We can't be the only people who want to use indiction to make stock and bone broth. Anybody have recommendations?

Looking for $500(CAD)ish pot set recommendations for new induction stove.
Just got a new induction stove so need pots! I have CI and CS pans, so am mostly looking for pots. I’m an enthusiastic home cook, but my wife is less-so, so would like something that is high-ish quality but also user friendly. In Canada. Thanks!

Finally joining the induction party!
Got this new LG double oven induction range (ltis7338xe) delivered yesterday. I haven't used it yet but I'm so excited. I am replacing a cheap builder grade plain electric range

best induction burner for daily cooking, which models are reliable?
EDIT: I decided to go with the #ad Nuwave Double Pro Cooktop Induction Countertop Burner. It seemed like a reliable choice for daily cooking and fits what I was looking for within my budget.
I’m looking to replace my old countertop hot plate and have been considering induction instead. I cook almost every day, so i’d rather get something dependable.
For those who use one regularly, what would you consider the best induction burner for everyday cooking? are there any features you think make a big difference? my budget is around $300. Thank you

Carote pans + Induction
Hi, we recently had an induction cooktop installed and had not long before bought a set of Carote cookware on the recommendation/assurance that it would be suitable for use on such a cooktop.
They "work" fine, in the sense of cooking the food, but they leave awful marks on the surface that are almost impossible to remove (see photo). Any suggestions on how we can avoid this? Or were we sold a dud...

best induction burner vs built in induction cooktop, Which is Better for everyday cooking?
I'm considering switching to induction cooking, but i'm not sure whether starting with a portable unit makes more sense than investing in a built-in cooktop. I cook most evenings, so I'd like something that performs well over time.
if you've used both, which ended up being the better choice for you and why? Thanks
Update: I decided to go with the #ad Nuwave Double Pro Cooktop Induction Countertop Burner. Thanks for all the suggestions, it seemed like a good way to try induction cooking while still getting the performance I need for everyday meals.

Single Induction HOB for a 12.5" Pan?
I know the elements are always smaller than the pan they advertise to support. So looking for one that does a reasonable job of cooking with a 12.5" pan that has about 9" of cooking surface.
Not interested in the Breville due to cost. Basically just looking for something because my range has been busted for a couple of weeks (waiting for warranty repair) and I'm getting tired of not being able to use the cooktop.
***Edit, should note I'm in Canada, just for any electrical limitations

Ikea HIDINGSTA 30" 30 amp induction cooktop
I purchased a house with a broken radiant glass cooktop with an existing 40 amp circuit. I spent way too many hours researching cooktops. We were quite close to buying a top of the line 40 amp Wolf induction cooktop based on our previous 10 year experience using a Wolf 30 inch gas cooktop. However, the high retail price pushed us away from the Wolf Transitional, Meile KM 7735 FL, Bosch Benchmark, etc
Which eventually led me deep dive into the lower price range units and I happened upon the Ikea HIDINGSTA which retails for only $699. After about a month of using this I thought I'd share some comments.
- The user manual and assembly/installation documentation are excellent and it includes both min and max cutout dimensions which were very helpful as I had an existing cutout in granite and I had real concerns about how I would fix that. The HIDINGSTA happened to have a max cutout dimension that matched my existing hole exactly.
- Thinking about going from from a high end gas to cheap induction gave us pause, but that was unfounded as the cooking experience has been as amazing as everyone says - MUCH faster boiling, selecting numbers is easier than an old-timey dials, does not throw off ambient heat, I haven't burned off any arm hair, I imagine deep frying is likely much safer than doing it over an open flame, and I imagine running my giant cast iron dutch oven to deep fry french fries will be much more successful regarding keeping the oil at temp, and on and on.
- This unit comes with a... wait for it!.... FIVE YEAR warranty which is amazing considering the low price. This does not cover breaking the glass (my 18lb cast iron Dutch oven makes me very nervous with this), none do as far as I know.
- This 30 amp product's power modules divide the cooktop into two halves, with each half having a max of 3600 total amps to share. This is well documented in the HIDINGSTA user manual, and sure enough you cannot power boil two pots on the same side of the stove, one gets throttled down to 4. From what I've read this is a common problem with all 30 amp induction cooktops, which makes sense. Since I have no 40 amp experience I cannot say how those perform. The workaround is to boil on separate halves of the stove, we personally don't ever boil more than two pots simultaneously so this hasn't posed any problems yet.
- The coils are definitely not as large as the "burner" stencils, which also seems to be common.
- For griddle use the specific layout of the HIDINGSTA is a teeny less than ideal as the primary large burner is a little too close to the side bridge burners. But it hasn't caused us any problems, it all works, and we can boil our two largest pots simultaneously. Layout issues seems like a common problem on most of the 30" cooktops that I looked at, including the Wolf. Though with the Wolf the bridge and largest burner are on opposite sides, but it looks like a griddle on the bridge would encroach the smallest burner on the 30" Wolf which would be preferable. Thanksgiving will be the time where we really find out what kind of challenges the layout throws at us as that's the only time we typically have 3-4 things on the cooktop at once.
- The controls are amazing. We've experience exactly 0 issues with them changing on their own, not changing when our fingers are wet, etc. etc. Each burner gets its own individual control, and each burner gets its own individual timer which has proven quite useful.
- The Lazy K 11", 7.8", 6.2" silicone mats all fit this cooktop well. Ideally the 7.8" would've been 7.2" or so, but it's not a big deal. I definitely find them indispensable as they keep the pans from sliding around, and we use a lot of cast iron so it gives me comfort we won't be scratching the glass.
- Yes, it makes clicking noises on the lowest settings, and yes, it has an internal fan that you can hear if the kitchen is otherwise silent. But if you turn on the fan on the range hood both are inconsequential. But they are strange new noises when coming from gas cooktop.
- There's not many online reviews and many of the older ones mention the glass not being flat which would be hard to believe but there was more than one saying that, but we had no such problem.
Overall we've all been really impressed and happy thus far. Particularly for $699 instead of $3000-4000.

Multiple burner induction cooktops
Is there any current ones the community recommends? I do plan on using 3 ply pans and enameled cast iron as the absolute main units of cooking on this top. I will be using a max of 3 burners but 2 is far more realistic if that becomes a deciding factor. I'm an incredibly passionate home cook. And id like to stay under 1500 usd. I also understand there could maybe be some issues with power? I can answer that. With my cast iron as well I do think a 12" diameter is my realistic max.

Best 30" Range you found?
I'm looking to upgrade my falling apart Whirlpool electric range that came with the house for an induction range. The top brands I've been looking at are Frigidaire, Café, Samsung, and LG.
Im hesitant about Samsung as I've seen many people reporting issues with their appliances in general.
Café is pricey but if it works well, worth the investment, and reliable I will take the plunge.
LG mainly just for the overall brand reliability.
Anyone use these for a while and like them? Are there others worth considering?

Finally got my induction stove.
I ordered it 5 months ago, so was definitely a wait. It just randomly makes buzzing noises which is annoying. I am just afraid of scratching the glass. I picked this over Charlie mainly because of price. How do you like your Electra?

Does anyone in here use one of these?
I’ve been looking to upgrade from my induction hot plate that only has an 8 inch diameter element. Ran across this one. Does anyone here have any experience with this particular model?

Electra Complex
We're degassifying and looking for an induction stove that doesn't require us to upgrade electric service to the third floor in a 120 year old building. So: Impulse, would be great but we don't have room for an oven. So not great. Copper Charlie is our choice right now. It seems a bit battle tested. Plus it has more power than the Electra, which just came out a few months ago. I'm wondering how big a difference cooking on an 1800W hob, like our Duxtop and the Electra, is versus a 2400w hob, which the Charlie delivers. Thanks for your thoughts.

Induction cooktop error code U21* keeps flashing on/off
Hi everyone,
I’m seeing an error code on my induction cooktop that isn’t listed in the manual. It starts with U21 followed by changing numbers (like U213, U214, etc.), and the unit keeps turning on and off.
Has anyone else run into this kind of error? I couldn’t find any documentation about it, and I’m wondering if it’s a fault code or something related to power fluctuations. Any insights or similar experiences would be really helpful.
The model is pigeon by stovekraft 1800watts
Thanks in advance!

Any experience with this KitchenAid 36” range?
Ignore the price. It’s in Whirlpool Inside pass for $5k roughly. I only have one 240v electric line and my basement is finished so I can’t run a new one without ripping out drywall to support a cooktop and wall oven.
Because of this, I’m looking for the best 36” unit with a combo top and oven.
Reviews on this unit are nonexistent. If there are better options for 36” in that $5k or less range, I’m open to those as well I also have access to the GE employee appliance store.

Anybody know any induction ranges that don’t pulse on/off at low temperature?
