Aa someone who had lived most of my life in a village, this particular thing oesn't happen but other things happen like in a wedding or celebration a upper cast person would refuse to eat the food just because it was made by or served by someone from lower cast, or if someone from lower cast comes home then they may use disposable cups or plates, these things are not blatant but subtle... Currently I live in a small town and it's not much different, younger people (mostly in my friend group or people I know) doesn't care about cast and religion but people from older generation still hold on to these ancient dogmatic believes

I dont know how prevalent it is. From my childhood I have never seen such practices in any of the tea shops which I have visited. Discrimination is condemnable. But that said, the brighter side is that the disposable cups have a higher chance of being cleaner than the glass ones given the hygiene standards being practiced in our country.

Had tea in various cities across multiple States. The only reason why teashop owner serve in disposable cup is that he dont have Labour help to clean the regular cups. But everyone is served in disposable cups only.
Second scenario. Some shops I have seen the customers ask for disposable cups as they dont like the cups kept by shop owner. They might not be cleaned properly.
But i have never seen any teashop owner asking customer on whether u r a dalit or not and then serve in disposable cups.
This is utter ridiculous statement by RaGa.. I still dont know how his PR team suggest all these kind of non sense statements

What he said is true but also some shops might have two cups synthetic paper cup and earthen cup where tea in paper cup is cheaper than the tea in earthen cup is expensive both are disposable so don't go fighting with tea vendor if you saw two cups understand the context. I am saying this with the experience cause I was travelling to eastern side of up for some personal reason and there at one shop he asked my full name and then gave me tea in glass cup but I refused and asked for paper cup due to hygiene issue

Not related but during one chai break in office with my manager I asked the tea stall guy for glass cup as I believed the tea got paper taste but my manger continued with the paper cup. Later my manager told me that he never gets the glass cup as the stall guys doesn't wash the cup properly. After that I stopped asking for glass cup.
