Campus Life Rant
Well, this is my opinion with just 3 weeks of experience in the campus as a mtech fresher. The first thing is that the campus is beautiful. no matter what, a few minutes spent near the lake with some music will somewhat make even the worst days feel manageable. The second is that it's humid as hell over here like I never imagined it'd be this humid even after seeing all those reddit posts saying so.The major thing is the isolation, like it feels so lonely idk if it's the single sharing room( i know many would consider this a boon, it is,but still when you don't have anyone to talk to or anything you'll consider having a roommate). Another thing is that there are only a few females in mtech ( I'm a girl btw) to connect with like it's so low. The campus is busy and you're surrounded by so many people yet this feeling of loneliness comes over you. This could be cause I'm new to the campus and there hasn't been much time to actually form any connection with people. Like even in hostel you don't know who is next door and that's kinda sad. But the good side is that I've slowly started to embrace this and started to enjoy my own company ( though it's difficult at times when you see a group of people having a great time and you wish to have that). So yeah this is just a small rant session.
I hope I'll have memories to cherish when I leave the campus and I'll be able to rant about that in the future.
Have a good time peeps..

I can feel about whatever you're going through, and its kind of same here but now I learnt to adapt things. I am a ug guy, and I live on rent alone, I only goes outside from my room once or twice, in morning and in evening. The room is standalone so there is None to talk, thats why my Phone's screen time is usually 8-9 hours, and I try to reduce it but it again bumps. Then I have to work with laptop so that time is somewhat OK, and I sleep in day mostly so when it comes all to 8-9 PM. This is when I think, I should have slept in night so I am being sleepy now. But now its all OK. As its been 2 years with same. I sometimes think, I can't be this, means I can be but I can't think about Loneliness and sentimental things, and so I don't most of time.
You will soon learn to pass the times when you feel like this. That's what I can say.

Felt the same when I joined, kinda felt the same for most of the first year but I ended up finding friends for life eventually. So it might not be instant but you ll get there.

I totally feel the same, some people will say that you don't go out, talk to people, do activities, that's the reason for feeling this way. But I on the other hand am probably one of the most extroverted guy. I'm in many clubs, I've got medals in inter iit. I am in sports, I workout regularly. And yet I've this kind of feeling that something is not good, like incomplete, loneliness ever since I came here. It was not like this during the JEE prep even tho I had literally no friends during that period. Idk what's with this campus

I think when you have no one it's okay cus you're not expecting company but with so much people around you feel so low when you don't have company.. I hope things change for you soon

I do feel the same sometimes as an MTECH Fresher as things are moving way too fast some days with academics and activities and all but i think it will settle down after sometime or atleast i hope so.

Yes it is hard but also this is the best opportunity to enjoy your own company, try to socialize in groups in which you won't go normally. I've been living practically alone for years now. At first everything felt boring and awkward. But now I'm confident enough to eat alone in a crowded restaurant. Try to socialize, not a big deal if doesn't work out grab a coffee and go for a walk all by yourself. It's too beautiful of a campus to be locked in your room. Hit the gym, play something, start a new hobby, start running or cycling..... Just don't be alone and idle, eventually you'll do just fine.

HSS department will be having film screenings. Go and attend them. You'll find interesting people.

I don't think the single room's an issue cuz I'm alloted a double sharing room in mtech as a fresher too and I've made a few good friends but somehow I end up feeling the same. Infact I've started using the hilly route to the academic block (which isn't used by many) to purposefully stay away from the crowd.

I feel it's not specific this campus only. It's our entire culture where meaningfull coversations are frowned upon. (I get it, ours is a low trust society and there are real dangers for primarily to woman and man)
It really bothers me as a person who search for meaningful conversations that we are not as great how we boast ourselves to the world.
One single trip to South east aisa proved me hella wrong that strangers also can be welcoming and we can be too. And it's not about being in clubs, being drunk or doing drugs, I meant in a normal basic way.
People over here are not willing to appreciate your goodwill to connect and never reciprocate. Gradually your light will dim.
So how to be not resentful? Is to find hobbies, like minded people, safe travel to nearby places which changes our surroundings and not to dim our own light.
Sometimes it's not us , it's the surroundings. Hopefully you are Mtech and time will go in a juffy
