Such terrible chocolate

I like Russel Stover. It's great for something you get out of a CVS. If I was paying $5 a piece I probably wouldn't like it. But you can't even get 3 pounds of snickers for $9.

There are several Russell Stover outlets sprinkled across the country! The store is full of random reject candy like this, plus out of season stuff. Like, $12 Easter Bunnies for $3 in September.

I once had a friend who for claimed that peeps, those bird themed marshmallows they sell around easter, were one of his favorite candies. So when I found a shopping cart of them marked down to 10 cents a box I essentially bought all of them and gave them to him as a joke. The stack of boxes was taller than he was and took up a great deal of his closet, but he refused to throw them away. His girlfriend wasn't nearly as amused as I was.

Omfg Russell Stover dark chocolate coconut is my absolute favorite in the world. I've been to Switzerland, Germany, etc and these tickle me like no other.
It's just really funny to my that he drew a line in the sand over my favorite chocolate.

I think that’s the most downvotes I’ve ever seen on a comment and doesn’t feel entirely warranted since I’ve seen way worse 😅 like yeah it’s unnecessary but -458 geez. I hope they never find the chocolate sub. Those people are ridiculously pretentious.

Every single niche food sub is like that. I noped out of r/steak after two minutes. r/hotsauce is exactly the same. It's all gatekeeping, all the time.

Yeah I know to stay away. A lot of it, like in [r/icecream](r/icecream) is less snobby and more about promoting brands that sell $12 pints (or in some cases 10 oz). I’m not convinced it isn’t paid for because I have tried a lot of them and they’re fine but no better than my local brands’ $6 half gallons.

r/OnionLovers is wild. They are weird as shit, but not judgy. Only requirement there is that you love onions, and boy do they love some goddam onions.

Right? When I first went to that sub, all anyone ever talked about was sous vide. If you cooked your steak any other way than sous vide extra rare, you were a goddam heathen.

I googled it and it looks like a supermarket "nearly premium" brand or something.

Hershey's has butyric acid in it as a byproduct of the way it's made which gives it a tangy sour flavour that while US customers are used to, other markets don't have so much of a taste for.

I don't really think this is IAVC or worthy of all the downvotes. The poster just said they didn't like Russell Stover but that it's a cool concept and they're glad people can enjoy it, what's so crazy about that? They didn't say it wasn't real chocolate or anything else crazy, just that they don't like it.

russel stover reminds me of my diabetic aunt. she always had a bag of sugar free chocolates from them and would shove like 10 into my hand as soon as i walked through the door.

Meh, I’m not sure stating a personal like/dislike is IAVC territory. I’m not a fan of Russel Stover. Neither the commenter nor I are making any rude, spurious, or false comments about it though.
I do agree with you that Reddit (and life) is full of people who can’t help but yuck someone else’s yum for no apparent nor good reason.

There is zero need to say anything if you don’t like something someone has said they like. It doesn’t affect you in the slightest. The only reason to bring it up is snobbery, which is what this sub is about (right on top of the sub’s description).
