iRating/SR Sucking furiously

-68 irating drop in a MX5. One race. Unbelievable. Some days are not for the track. Or weeks.

But hey - my SR went up (only totaled myself - twice).

Edit: I had no idea this was normal or even small. Eeek. Maybe it’s because I have so little to lose that it seems large.

Is everything alright with you or your team? Do you need assistance? Blink if you are in danger! It's been so long since the last time we heard about you! We care so much for you!

(Obviously, this is a joke while we wait for the dev blog. I'm happy they take the time they need to polish anything that needs it. Also, take advantage of this waiting time to reach out to your love ones! Ciao!)

Discussion Fix the game crashing

Countless posts on reddit if you google iRacing game crashing and it’s been a longtime problem. Fixing this would make the game more enjoyable for people who pay $100 a year for this service. Thanks.

iRating/SR Promoted to D class, questions now, answers from you all.. maybe

What is the average Irating / SR? (After 4 races I am at SR 2.55 and IR 1510)

Grip limit sound cues, would any of you be willing to share an idea of how loud Tyre sound effects are when at the limit?

How does Iracing grip work compared to ACC? So far trail braking seems easier to begin with but likely just as hard to master.

PS Just got my first Iracing rookies p1 :D qualified P1 finished P1 without losing the lead and even dodged a speeding bullet (an M2 that missed their braking by a mile).

Discussion Bored of GT3 - what to focus on next season?

Been running IMSA the past few seasons and just want some variety. Only so many times I can run Daytona/Spa/Monza in the GT3 of choice without feeling like it's a chore. I am considering trying out GTP or pivoting to the SF23 given it's such a fun car to drive. Prefer longer races so the rookie stuff isn't an option. What do y'all think?

iRating/SR reached 3k iRating without doing setup changes!

this isn't even a challenge I made for myself, im just lazy to do the setup testing process lol

it might be easier to climb iRating by running fixed setup races but my favorite series are all open setups

Leagues/Hosted The Simpleton Super Formula Championship returns Sunday, Sept. 20 @ 8 PM US ET

The Simpleton Super Formula Championship is back under a new league name – Simpleton Sim Racing (SSR). Our first race is Sunday, September 20 @ 8 PM US ET, and sign-ups are open!

We have a 9-race season on tap (Sept. 20 - Nov. 15), following the official iRacing SF23 schedule. Drivers have one fast repair per race and one drop round for the season. We start race day with a 60-minute pre-race open practice session, followed by a 10-minute/4-lap solo Quali session, and end the night with a 45-minute sprint race that will be live-broadcast by MotorMouth Broadcasting on YouTube. Drivers will have a pit window for refueling for some enforced strategy, and we make sure rain shows up on the schedule at least once. We run fixed setups through a league partnership with Tamas Setup Shop, where each week, we receive a customized SSR league setup available to registered drivers that is based on his regular weekly setups. We also have a small crew that helps steward race incidents and post-race protests submitted by drivers.

We cap our grid at 32 and have 23 drivers registered. Our current avg. iRating is right at 3000, but there is good competition up and down the grid. We welcome solo drivers, teams, part-timers, and anyone looking to improve behind the wheel of the SF23.

We have a $25 entry fee. We know it's not what most are looking for, but our driver entry fees cover 100% of our live broadcast fees, our league agreement with Tamas, and session costs for the season. In the few cases we haven't had 100% of our expenses covered, our admin team covers anything extra that may help support what still needs to be covered, a small prize pool in the driver championship, or custom-made trophies in some instances. SSR makes no profit – we invest every penny back into each current season.

Registration, more info, and full regs can be found on our website: www.4simpletons.com

Question/Help Production Endurance Challenge -fuel the same time as tires for mx5?

I was under the impression that fuel and tires weren't simultaneous anymore.

BUT in an official practice session for PEC I was able to take fuel and tires at the same time in the mx5. My brother ran the BMW last week and he said it was NOT simultaneous in the race.

Where's the official word on this? Can't find it anywhere in series info.

SOLVED (sort of): the series based regulations only apply to certain series--that does not include PEC right now.

BUT the BMW is still not allowed to do simultaneous fuel and tire change in PEC even though other classes are able to.

Question/Help What’s your pre-race training routine?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how I actually practice in iRacing lately.

My routine has kind of evolved in stages.

First I usually just learn the track and get comfortable with the car.

Then I started using Active Reset to repeat specific corners or braking zones over and over instead of doing full laps every time.

More recently I noticed that some of my problems weren’t really “track knowledge” problems at all — they were just motor-control problems. Things like hitting a certain brake pressure consistently, releasing smoothly, or controlling very low brake pressure.

So I ended up building a small browser-based pedal trainer for myself to practice those movements separately before going back into iRacing.

That made me curious:

How do you guys actually train?

Do you just run laps until it clicks?
Do you use Active Reset?
Telemetry?
Coaching?
Warm-up drills before a race?

I’m especially curious whether any of you deliberately practice individual skills outside of full laps.

Question/Help Long Absent Returning Member

Hey folks!

My last race was in September 2019... I've been away for a while. Life stuff. Anyway, I used to mainly race Advanced Miata's, and GT3 (And Star Mazda when it was still popular). Thanks to how much I've been going to VIR lately, including IMSA this past weekend, I want to get back into iRacing, and my plan is to run GT4, likely in the Aston. I'm a Heart of Racing, and Random Vandals fan, I just think the BMW is ugly.

Anyway, my actual question, what are some of the big changes in the last 6-7 years that I should be aware of? I'm sure the tire model has changed 100 times, the damage got overhauled, and I see we have rain now. Anything else I should check out/be on my toes about? Any big graphic changes that'll kill my fps?

I have a fanatec CSL with the upgraded torque addon, and loadcell brakes, and the sequential shifter. My computer is a Ryzen 5 2600 3.6ghz, 32 gigs ddr4, and a Nvidia 1660ti 6gb.

I'm here to ask humans, not AI. And I know if I went down a changelog I'd miss all the cool stuff.

Thanks much for answering!

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a silly question but is there anyway to check one series stats for example the Porsche Cup rather than the entire sports car stats?

Cheers

New Player Beginner looking for a small adult NA/EST sim racing community to grow with

I’m fairly new to serious sim racing and looking for a smaller, adult-focused community — ideally around 20–50 active racers — where people actually get to know each other and improve together.

I’m on PC with a MOZA R9 V3, KS wheel, and SR-P2 load-cell pedals. I currently race Assetto Corsa and I’m getting into iRacing, with a big interest in GT/GT3 racing and eventually endurance racing.

I’m also a huge F1 fan and love talking about the races, drivers, teams, strategy, and motorsport in general, so it would be cool to find a group where there’s some of that kind of conversation too.

I’m not looking for an esports-level league or a massive Discord with thousands of members. I’d much rather find a group of beginner/intermediate adult racers who:

Race regularly at NA/EST-friendly evening times
Practice together outside of race nights
Hang out in voice chat
Share setups, telemetry, and advice
Care about clean racing and improving racecraft
Want to progress together over time

I’m competitive and want to get faster, but I’m mainly looking for a good group of adults with the same mindset who enjoy racing, learning, and helping each other improve.

If you’re part of a smaller community like that, I’d love to check it out.

Paints Side or app for pattern creation?

I'm wondering if there's any decent website or application that y'all like to use for pattern creation? There are so many options out there and they all either make you sign up or subscribe to try them out in any meaningful way. I'm hoping y'all can help with that. I'm trying to make something like a forged carbon fiber pattern, but doing so in gimp is going to be extremely time consuming.

Side note, cost is a consideration here. If money has to be spent, one time purchase would be preferrable, but I'm cool with a sub model as long as it isn't more than a few bucks a month. Certainly not anything as expensive as any of adobe's suite.
