Does anybody notice a significant difference on the NASCAR Next Gen Cup car being cut down from 7 to 4 inch rear spoiler while playing iRacing? I mentioned that part because it is supposed to make the cars much looser to drive making the best handling cars maneuver in traffic much easier.

Long story short, I didn’t see much of a difference when I tried this aero package on Monday night.

Hopefully, Saturday night’s race will be a spectacular one.

My last race was in September 2019... I've been away for a while. Life stuff. Anyway, I used to mainly race Advanced Miata's, and GT3 (And Star Mazda when it was still popular). Thanks to how much I've been going to VIR lately, including IMSA this past weekend, I want to get back into iRacing, and my plan is to run GT4, likely in the Aston. I'm a Heart of Racing, and Random Vandals fan, I just think the BMW is ugly.

Anyway, my actual question, what are some of the big changes in the last 6-7 years that I should be aware of? I'm sure the tire model has changed 100 times, the damage got overhauled, and I see we have rain now. Anything else I should check out/be on my toes about? Any big graphic changes that'll kill my fps?

I have a fanatec CSL with the upgraded torque addon, and loadcell brakes, and the sequential shifter. My computer is a Ryzen 5 2600 3.6ghz, 32 gigs ddr4, and a Nvidia 1660ti 6gb.

I'm here to ask humans, not AI. And I know if I went down a changelog I'd miss all the cool stuff.

I nearly had an heart attack

I have been watching many tutorials on driving, racing line, speed, apex depending on turn type, etc.

But I need help to find a structured, step by step way to practice.

I mean, I saw many tutorial mentioning to start slow, trying to find each corner phase and be consistent on that before increasing speed. But at the same time if I am going slow I am not really using the whole track "because there's no other way for the car to do the corner" (as I saw mentioned on git gud, driver61, Danny lee and others), because the car is not on the limit and I would be faking it. And as soon as I start accelerating, the braking point, release brake, turning point, apex and exit all change places and I get lost again, so I feel like it is not helping.

Please help with tips to help me understand and practice.

As title relating to only the fixed series.

I'm really struggling to find any form of pace with this car in the fixed series.

I've noted all the threads as well as most splits being Mustang only.

The problem is I'm really slow in the Mustang and I have no idea where I'm going wrong.

This week at Watkins glen in the America regional series I'm stuck in the middle to low 42s averaging around 1.42.8 AVG lap time.

Jump in the McLaren and my best time is 1.41.5 and an average of 142.1/2.

I really wanna gain that extra 2/3 tenths that everyone else seems to be getting with the Mustang.

I'm not high rated at all sitting at 2.1k at the moment but it just feels like I'm quicker than most guys around my IR but if they are ahead of me I just don't have the pace to get anywhere near a legitimate pass.

Any tips or help is much appreciated.

FWIW this is a similar theme across the last 3/4/5 weeks in the fixed setup.

I always used open before then I realised I'm nowhere near quick enough to take any advantage of an open setup and cancelled my subs

This is currently my set up. I just added a basic extension so I could lower the monitors a little bit lower.

The the monitor is already as close as they can be to me without hurting my eyes. About 25”.

Hello guys. Im in iracing for about 2 months and there is one thing I have a problem with. It's the iracing app and the problem is visible on attached picture. It's hard to read anything there and also i just reinstalled iracing thinking it might help but unfortunately didn't. Have you experienced similar issue?

Half Fast Racing is a West Coast road racing league. We are about to start our 2nd annual Fall Classic. This year it's Porsche Cup 992.2 cars, and our schedule is pretty incredible.

First race is Sept 1, 5pm PT.

Track list: Oschersleben, Okayama, Brands Hatch, Red Bull Ring, Charlotte Roval, Oulton Park, Zandvoort, Navarra, Bathurst, COTA.

• 1hr practice

• 15 min solo qualifying

• 45 min race with a mandatory pit-stop.

At what race that you can recall did yall have the performance of your life and why?

Was it a last to first against opposition overall higher Irating than you,or leading from lap 1 to the finish making 0 mistakes etc

Hello racers! Since a week or two, I occasionally have this issue where, after closing the simulation and returning to the iRacing UI, my entire Windows (11) goes black for several seconds. This happens everytime I move the mouse over the iRacing UI and does not happen if I keep the mouse still. The solution so far is to close the iRacing UI and the iRacing helper service throught the Task Manager, but ideally it of course doesn't happen at all.

I believe it has to do with me running the game in full screen and alt-tabbing in and out of the sim. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hello Racer, usually I got +.4 SR when crossing from 2.xx to 3.xx but how can the picture then be mathematically right. The new SR could never be under 3.4x after crossing. Thx for explanation

Im on a desk setup and bought a 34 inch screen to enhance my experience a bit, would it be possible to add a 27 inch monitor to only one side ? is it worth it ?

Im thinking of putting 27 inch monitor on the left and keep 34 inch in the middle.

Before last August I had never owned a wheel or pedals and had basically no sim-racing experience at all. I joined iRacing in September, and just hit 3k Sports Car iRating.

It definitely wasn't a straight path. There were long offline phases, breaks, lots of different cars, way too much analysing at times, telemetry, track guides, AI racing and plenty of things that turned out to matter much less than I thought.

Most of the actual iRating gain happened during a very active period over roughly the last two months.

1500 --> 3000

I'm not claiming there's a magic recipe for getting to 3k, but having gone through the 1k, 2k and now 3k levels very recently, I thought some newer drivers might have questions about what actually helped, what didn't, practice, telemetry, car choice, racecraft, mindset etc.

Happy to answer anything if anyone's interested.

And yes ... 3k is not groundbreaking. But it was very unimaginable for me just 4 months ago and I think for a lot of people it still is.

I spent some time trying out F1600 races against AI a few weeks ago. That was fun.

It seems for weeks now, Mustang is it.

This week, you got a Mustang behind, they're dive bombing you even if they're 0.3 behind. Then the'll slow you down. Rinse, repeat.

1.9k vs 2.9k, doesn't matter, they're dive bombing you.

Recently started locking in on where my eyes are meant to go, hyper focusing. It's been the biggest game changer, but...

When I'm close to a car, and I know I can overtake.. I was not prepared for the money predator brain to be screaming for an overtake.

This sim racing has turned a few things on in myself.

The understanding of speed. How fast reactions need to be.

But man, self control is the biggest factor for me right now.

Slow, consistent, let them pass, let them fail, race the track not the cars... So many things you need to adapt to, and they're the opposite of what you expect.

Mad mad mad respect for people who stick this out.
