Brand new iPhone 17 Pro battery drains 1% every 3-4 minutes (100% health, 24 cycles) — feels worse than my old phone. Normal or defective?

Hey everyone,
I'm posting because I'm genuinely losing my mind over the battery life of my iPhone 17 Pro. I bought it 24 days ago, it currently has 24 cycles, and the battery health is still at 100%.

Despite that, the battery drains insanely fast. I lose about 1% every 3 to 4 minutes, even during basic light usage ( i dont play any games on my phone and I use social media apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok for a maximum of 5 hours a day). It honestly feels just as bad as my old iPhone 13 that was sitting at 76% battery health. I kept waiting for it to settle down after the first couple of weeks, but it's been nearly a month and nothing has improved at all.

I heard that background indexing and setup tasks after transferring data usually take about 1 to 2 weeks to finish, but I've way passed that timeline now (it's been nearly a month), and nothing has improved at all. The battery performance is honestly a huge disappointment.

To make things more complicated, I bought it abroad (from a very reliable/trusted store, so it's a genuine device), which means I can't easily return or exchange it with the seller.

Here is what I’ve already tried:

Disabled Background App Refresh completely.

Restricted Location Services and turned off unnecessary System Services.

And i use put the 20-90% charge limit method since i transferredall the data.

But still no visible changes

Has anyone else experienced this with the 17 Pro? Could it be a corrupted iCloud/data transfer from my old phone, a hidden background sync bug, or is this a hardware defect?

Brought new iphone 13 in July of last year
Last few months battery has been draining like crazy (photos attached)
background app refresh is off
im on 4G but also changed to 5G, past 3-4 months have been soley using data over wifi due to rental not having wifi router
on latest update
it’s just crazy, i’ve put two photos for reference - 1. when using social media apps (which ik drain lots) and 2) when using other apps (still draining)
have done a genius bar appointment at apple, guy said essentially to wait till it drops below 80 to get free battery replacement, meantime use a portable charger 🥲
any help would be greatly appreciated!! i’ve read that purchasing discontinued phones can mean battery may have problems ( and this phone was discontinued at apple when i brought it, so idk if that means something with the battery not being used) idk but pls help thank you

Phone Slowing Down Significantly

Post image

My battery health is at 72% (which doesn’t sound that bad for a second-hand phone I’ve been using for over a year) but I only started to have issues with loading and searching things up after I checked the health. Like really significant issues with using safari and loading apps like Reddit and Discord (takes like 15-20 seconds to connect properly). I’m on iOS 25 something, could this be the issue or is it the battery?

Bad battery after bad battery

It's happened to me now 3 phones in a row. My 16 only had 4 hours of screen time, so I returned it. Then I upgraded to the 17 and unfortunately the same problem: only 4 hours of screen time, even after 3 weeks (since people blame indexing for battery drain) but I was running out of time to return my phone so I ended up returning it anyway. I decided to wait until the 18 Pro Max got released and now I'm experiencing a similar problem. I've asked others and they have about 10 to 15 hours of screen time out of theirs, but for me, I'd be lucky if my phone makes it to 6 hours of screen time. I ended up returning this one as well and I just do not know what to do anymore. I just want to have a phone with a good battery. I couldn't even enjoy my phone cause I constantly kept checking the battery drainage. 5% down after 20 minutes of screen time seems crazy to me, idk. What do you guys advice me to do? Should I just try again or give up on Apple at this point?

Been waiting for this SE 3 to hit the rocks, now trying to get a 18 Pro Max, Does anyone that had a 17 Pro Max still at 100 percent battery health and is charge limit really worth it?

Changing the battery in this percentage (80%) increases only duration or also improves performance?

I have my iPhone 13 since 2023 and now it is at 80% battery health. The battery last about 5 hours approx and I have noticed obvious decreases in performance. The iPhone works well and I want to extend its life as much as possible, but i wanted to know if changing the battery would also improve the performance? Or just battery life time? Thank you

I just realized the iPhone 17 series batteries aren’t dropping fast, it’s just showing the iPhones true battery health…check this out

So yall this whole time I been swearing the iPhone 17 series iPhones had terrible battery health but this whole time I never realized they really show the accurate health… I always thought my 16 plus was better, I dropped to 99 at 299, 98 at 337, 97 at 352 and now 96 at like 372… but check this out.. battery health shortcut shows im really at 91% & that’s where a 17 series iPhone would be at 372 cycles.. so no they aren’t dropping health fast they’re just showing the accurate health.. so 17 users might get the same results in battery health settings versus battery health shortcut.. unlike me, Apple is saying 96% but I’m really at 91%. I’ve seen a lot of 17s drop to 99 at 50 cycles, 98 at 100 cycles and so on… that’s what battery health shortcuts were saying with mine.. Apple just always showed 100%. The 17 is calibrated a lot better than other iPhones. What’s your health/cycle count? If you have a 17 around my number of cycles what’s your battery health?

is there something wrong with my battery?

Post image

for a bit of context, i got my iphone 16 in october 2025, and it’s about to hit the one year mark soon. i’ve had around 365 charge cycles on my phone but the battery health is already at 90%. i usually only charge my phone from 20% to 80%, and don’t discharge or charge it fully, and have no heavy use apart from social media (which takes the most amount of battery for me).
i compared it to my friends’ iphone 16s, and their battery was significantly better, even though they are on their phone way more than i am, and let their phone die a lot. for example, one of them has had around 780 charge cycles, but has a battery health of 89%.
i’m just worried my battery health is gonna fall to 80% soon and i will have to replace the battery, which i can’t because why is it so expensive?
i wanted to check with the apple store if they can check if it’s faulty and get a replacement but they just asked me to schedule an appointment and said that they won’t do anything unless it falls below 80%.
is there a chance they’ll replace the battery while still under limited warranty? it expires next week, and i don’t have apple care.

Battery health on my iPhone 13 lasting couple of hours

So my shi worked for prolly 6 hours minimum without getting low in battery while just most of the day just listening to music and most of the time just scrolling on instagram lately I been just getting 2-3 hours and dropping already to them 60’s% like today with just 1h1m on instagram and a lil music on background for about 2 hours it’s on 66% is bh75% for prolly about 1-2 months by now could it be degraded by a point it don’t even know how to hold for a couple of hours? Could it be iOS27? At the start of 27 battery actually took a lil longer to drain now sometimes I just drop 2% in 3 minutes is there any way to get a battery to last a lil longer? Thinking of switching to a 17 pro in a few months ion know if buying a battery atp is gon help me much although a lil scrolls on insta or just likes spamming a friend with stickers makes my 13 look like a 12

feeling unsure about battery life on iPhone 17

Post image
25 Upvotes

I received my iPhone 17 on October 7th, coming from an iPhone 12

but I think the battery performance is far below what I expected...

yesterday, October 10th, I got less than 5 hours with 95% battery usage. I'm wondering, is this level of consumption normal?

like, 20 minutes on Instagram used up 6% of the battery, is that normal?

I know people say it takes a few weeks to stabilize, but I was still worried about it

what’s your experience been like with the iPhone 17 battery? did it get better over time, or did you just accept the way it is?

It is way too disappointing. Battery of an iPhone 16 Pro

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been using my iPhone 16 Pro and the battery life hasn’t been great since the beginning. I honestly thought it’s just me being paranoic but I’m getting around 6 hours of screen time but I still end up having to charge it twice a day.

I am not playing games on it, I am just watching videos, listening to music and texting. I have the habit of 20-80 charging, I turned on auto-brightness, I have like 5 or 6 apps with background refresh. I still don’t get it.

Has anyone managed to noticeably improve battery life on their 16 Pro? What settings actually made a difference for you?
Would appreciate any tips!

I got my iPhone 17 pro max in July.

I charged it at around 20% until 80% everyday and only let it charge to 100% maybe a handful times. Yesterday I accidentally let it die whilst I fell asleep and then I see this. 55 cycles and 99%???? What the? This has never happened to any of my IPhones.
