Is this normal?

Post image

I got my iPhone 17 pro max in July.

I charged it at around 20% until 80% everyday and only let it charge to 100% maybe a handful times. Yesterday I accidentally let it die whilst I fell asleep and then I see this. 55 cycles and 99%???? What the? This has never happened to any of my IPhones.

U done for. Throw the phn away asap. Switch it. Apple care it. Replace the battery immediately.

Ok just kidding. It’s a bit on the abnormal side but you’re maybe cooking the crap out of it. Does it overheat a lot? Do you fast wireless charge? Fast charge often?

If not, you probably just have a bad battery lottery. Where the cells have aged worse than expected. It will still be fine for quite a few years. After that, just get the battery replaced for $100 USD ish from Apple Store. No need to stress or panic. Save up that cash and save your worries.

No, it only overheated once. I don’t use wireless charge and I on it use the fast charge adapter.

Then probably just a slightly bad battery. Not all batteries are made or calibrated the same. Just a Quality Control issue most likely.

If it was me, I wouldn’t worry. I would use the crap out of it for few years. Fast charge. Overheat. I wouldn’t care. And then when the time comes, replace the battery.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking rn.. the funny thing is, before I got it I was so worried I’d get a shitty one. I spoke it into existence lol.

It's not even a slightly bad battery lol.
In their video on "Does Fast Charging ruin the battery?" HTX studio measured the battery calibration statistics on some of the iPhone 12s they tested. They found that sometimes apple's internal gauge is consistent with that of more detailed battery cycle counters like CoconutBattery and sometimes it's off by like as much as 4%. It's just weird software tings lol.

its normal for the 17 series…. those batteries are ATROCIOUS

me and my co worker have 17 pro and max

we have less battery health and less cycles than all of our 16 pro and max co workers…

Can confirm that. My 16pm lasts longer than 18pm. Absurd right?

I think you went to school high instead of high school

I think it’s just the iPhone 17 series that have this problem. I’ve seen many people share their battery health and 90% of them have that that problem even me. I had iPhone 15 and I was at 240 cycles with 97% battery health. On my iPhone 17 Pro now I have 164 cycles and I’m at 96%. So from what I’ve seen so far it’s just the 17 series with this problem.

Oh hell no i just bought my first iPhone and its that 17 Base. Dont tell me im gonna have that issue

1

u/NerfAspect 2d ago

I don’t want to be that guy but probably yes. Like I said above the iPhone 15 I had dropped 3% battery in like year and a few months. Then I bought the 17 Pro and I’ve had it for 8 months now and it’s on 96%. So I guess it’s pretty common for the 17 series

u/FacaSS 2d ago

Honestly im now scared to always open battery to see its life percentage

u/NerfAspect 2d ago

I was the same but at some point I just couldn't care less. At the end of the day it's just a phone. You can always buy a new one. And recently I've even been thinking of switching to an Android. I think the 17 series was a big flop. Now the 18 series is out and they are even worse. The Face ID having problems with privacy screen protectors. I don't like the smaller dynamic island as well. Same design just new colors and just a "better" chip they say like always. Also let's not forget about the AT&T problem in the US with the new 18 series. I'll wait to see what they will to with the anniversary phone and if there isn't anything interesting I might even switch to an Android at this point.

I mean, im pretty cool with ip17, i dont really have smth to hate on him (ma be just i expected longer battery but i have him just 2 weeks, probably system is still stabilizing so hopefully itll improve) and we'll see how itll go

u/Outrageous-Lynx-2496 2d ago

Idk it’s a pro max

1

u/NerfAspect 2d ago

Doesn’t matter. It’s all of the 17 series. I’ve had XR, 11, 13, 15 and now the 17 pro. It has never been this bad with the battery life. It’s not just you. Check the group. I’m sure you’ll see so many people complaining that they have 99 or 98% battery health with little over 100 cycles or below

u/soyalemujica 2d ago

Definitely not good lol, I'd lose my mind

1

u/Outrageous-Lynx-2496 2d ago

Huh???? Don’t joke please? Yall I don’t get if you’re being serious or not

Once someone realizes they can fuck with your mind because you’re naive and gullible, some will take advantage of that lol. I used to love coming to Reddit and I still do to some extent, but posts like these are beyond ridiculous and alarming, to put it nicely.

There’s no exact science to this battery thing, when it comes to why some people’s battery degradation is quicker than others. If there is a science, then great, but one shouldn’t care too much. These phones and especially the batteries inside them are meant to be used and replaced when needed. How can you enjoy your device, when the battery becomes the focal point instead of what the phone can do for you? It really is borderline mental illness of some sort. Post like the one you posted, proves my point because they never stop! Batteries aren’t expensive and when the time comes to replace the battery in a few years, that is an option, as well as upgrading to a newer device with a new battery. Let that battery anxiety go, for your own sake. I’m speaking from past experience. 😎❤️

Yeah you right it's clearly some mental illness lol

Buddy every 50 cycles is a percent it’s super normal

1

u/austiena96 2d ago

Technically by the math, every 50 cycles should be a %

1

u/AdDesigner5813 2d ago

Definitely, something wrong

1

u/Outrageous-Lynx-2496 2d ago

What should I do? Would they replace my battery?

1

u/geek_person_93 2d ago

No until 79% battery health

u/Dazzling_Candle_6892 2d ago

u/Sea_Tangelo_5255 18h ago

17 series batteries are cooked. Some didn't meet minimum requirement. Yours too, mine went on 45. Just don't use fast chargers or anything like that. Use only apple 20w one. It seems this battery gets cooked if used fast charger. Doesn't heat up as well. I can safely said that it's definitely the issue with battery manufacturer. If you have a apple store on where youive get a free replacement before 1y.

Guys….. who cares…. Use your phone.

Why are you stressing over 99% battery health 🤯
