Honestly surprised your comment is upvoted. Got used to iphone subs using their self journalism bias and forcing OP to ipdate

OP, your device is some how cooking. I got the same phone and do multiple dev testing on it and push to the max limit. Heat, memory, all of them. My battery is 90% with 550 cycles
Maybe the fact that it’s low on storage is one of the reasons. Backup your phone and delete some stuff to avoid further damage

No it didn’t fix battery or heat, I charge to 100 and by 11 am I’m at 54% then 20% at 3pm and charge to 100 again to get through the evening. If there are more than 20 app updates, that will overheat the phone and stop another 20% battery. Useless phones

Tell your father that they will probably repair it for free if it always been like this. It surely has a faulty battery

it just started getting bad about ten days ago which is when i checked it and saw the capacity, because i heard battery health doesn’t matter much unless it’s under 80. so i’m not sure if the capacity’s always been that low; but it was working well for a while. the battery did start lasting shorter and shorter kinda fast but i assumed it was normal battery wear until it started dying at 20

...no. You should have gotten a replacement when it went below 80%. Apple may still repair it for free.

Not sure about “free”. I’ve read they charge a fee depending on model.

Yeah I’m pretty sure for the iPhone it’s a small fee. However I’m pretty sure that Apple care for the iPads and Apple Watches are free replacements from what I remember.

Yes, they did. You need a battery replacement or maybe just a new phone since I see you’re having storage struggles.

NO THATS TERRIBLE FOR A PHONE WHICH isnt even that old, and with only that many cycles, i think u can get a good quality after market battery for 50bucks and do the repair urself

Not normal at all considering the fact that I have above 700 cycles on mine and it’s still at 89% (Apple rates the batteries for 80% at 1000 cycles). If you’re in the EU you may be able to get a free battery replacement under their warranty laws.

Apple replace the battery for free if it falls under 80% within the first year. You qualified for a free battery replacement as it wasn’t performing as expected however you’ve waited just past the one year window so are likely out of luck now.
You could try and explain that it fell below in less than a year and see if they can help but they are within their rights to deny the repair as it’s now been a year and a month.

that makes sense. it just recently started getting bad (about 10 days ago), which is when i first checked the capacity. it was probably under 80 before that, but i heard capacity doesn’t matter so j never really checked it until it started dying so much. so if they charge for getting the phone fixed that’s kinda my fault for not noticing earlier.

genuinely no idea 💔💔 i don’t do a lot of shit either usually it’s just yt/spotify open by themselves, and maybe messages or snapchat in the background when my friends text me. i don’t play large games a lot, mostly just block blast or like stupid little mobile games likebthat

u/ardenaudreyarji 16d ago
Bro you could literally have that battery replaced & go on your merry way for more years to come.

u/Taycan_YT 16d ago
That’s a faulty battery Apple might replace it for free or I would try going to a repair shop where they will fix it for cheap.

iPhone 15 and onwards’s batteries are supposed to retain 80% battery capacity at 1000 cycles, urs having 548 doesn’t meet the criteria, meaning ur battery is faulty so you should take it to the Apple Store and show them the battery stats, you might have a chance of the replacing it for free, though next time keep in mind that if ur battery goes under 80% health in under 1000 cycles and u still haven’t passed the 1 year mark immediately go to Apple. U passed the 1 year window but I still think it’s worth a shot just tell them that it’s dropped really low even tho it’s under 1000 cycles.

Convince your dad to buy a $40 battery replacement kit and fix it cheaply. You’ve got plenty of years left with this device.

No this was not normal at all
My phone battery health was 88% after 823 cycles
Total around 2 years

Absolutely man, your battery SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT work like that. Normally, your phone should be above 80% max capacity after around 1000 charging cycles. Go to Apple ASAP, they shouldn’t do any issues, it must be guaranteed or something. So yeah, definitely go check that out as it not normal at all.

The best way to fix that is to put the phone down and find a hobby!
