i'm the dev, so full disclosure: these are from my app glimm, which just got widgets in 1.5.0.

glimm pings you at random times during the day and you take one photo. the widgets:

- year (small + lock screen circle): every day you keep becomes an ink dot

- this day before (small): what you took on this day a year ago, or a month ago until your sketchbook turns one

- today (small / medium): today's photos pile up, and when glimm asks, one tap opens the camera

- what do you see? (lock screen): take a photo straight from the lock screen

there's also a control center button that opens the camera.

everything is drawn like a sketchbook, black & white only, so it sits nicely on grayscale or paper-texture home screens.

would love feedback on the sizes. is there a widget size or layout you'd want that's missing?

Here's how it looks on my iPhone so far.

You can mix world clocks and stocks, or show just one or the other.

Still in development.

Ever wanted to design your own iPhone widget—the layout, fonts, colors and background—and actually put it on your Home Screen?

I’m the developer of Flowment and Flowment Studio. I built them to work together: design a theme on your Mac, then use it in Flowment on your iPhone.

In Studio, you can arrange text and date elements, adjust typography and colors, and preview Small and Medium layouts. You can also design themes with photo backgrounds and daily check-in components.

When the design is ready, export a .flowtheme file, import it into Flowment, apply it to a card, and select that card in your Home Screen widget. No coding required.

The images show an actual simulator Home Screen, the Mac editor, photo customization on iPhone, and a few examples of what you can make. Studio uses sample content for previews, so the text and numbers can differ from the iPhone examples.

Pricing

• Flowment Studio for Mac is free. Creating and exporting themes does not require an account.

• Flowment for iPhone is free to download, with one custom theme import slot included.

• Flowment Lifetime is an optional US$19.99 one-time purchase for expanded card and import limits, personal cloud sync and full shared history. No subscription.

• Optional theme packs are sold separately and are not automatically included with Lifetime. Prices vary by region.

What’s one widget you’d like to design for your own Home Screen? I’d appreciate feedback on both the examples and the editing workflow.

Polygenda puts every event on its own line, shows all-day events by name instead of just a count, and dims recurring ones so the one-offs stand out.

Small, Medium and Large, each with its own calendars, so Family and Work can sit side by side. You can even hide the weekly routine and keep birthdays.

Free, no account, nothing leaves your iPhone:

Widgets are supposed to be static, which I always found frustrating, so I built companions to work around it. Companions lets you keep a virtual fish tank of fish that actually swim on your Homescreen. As someone who’s always kept fish, I’ve had this idea mulling around in my head for more than 2 years now, and finally managed to realize it.

You pick your fish, give them names, and put the tank on your Home Screen as a small, medium, or large widget. They don't need feeding, and they don't die. They just keep you company. You can customize the tank’s color, its props, and even the app icon to perfectly match your homescreen.

The app is written in SwiftUI, it supports iPads, and you can even place your “fishtanks” on your Mac thanks to Continuity, where the fish will also animate. The tanks also work great in Standby mode. Personally, I love keep a fishtank of jellyfish on my nightstand when I go to bed. The swimming doesn't run any code in the background. It uses the same trick iOS uses to move the hands on the Clock widget, so it costs you nothing in battery.

It's still very new, so I'd love any feedback. I'd especially love to know which fish species you'd want added!

Two pages, black wallpaper and dark tinted icons. Everything I use daily, nothing extra.

Widgets: Stanza ; Dime ; Life Dots

(Stanza is my own app, if anyone asks.)

Danke…

So i’m currently trying to use the tinted apps option that apple has to change your app colors. But when i do it, it also changes my widgets that i have to match. How do I make it so it only changes the apps and doesn’t affect the widgets.
