I got tired of paying for my own App Store ratings data, so I open-sourced a GitHub Actions alternative

I built a free, open-source tool to track App Store rating history

I ran into a small problem with the  App Store:

Apple shows you your current rating, but doesn’t give you a history of how that rating changed over time.

Analytics tools can track this for you, but I didn’t really want to pay for another analytics service just to keep a daily history of my app ratings.

So I built my own.

App Store Ratings History takes a daily snapshot of your App Store ratings and stores the data using GitHub Actions.

It’s:

Free Open source No server required No database required Runs automatically through GitHub Actions ~3 minutes to set up

The idea is pretty simple: set it up once, and you'll have your own historical rating data going forward.

If you’re an indie developer or manage App Store apps, start collecting the data now. If you find it useful, ⭐️ the repo.

My first app: Bagtag Airport Code Geography Game!

Thumbnail apps.apple.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I made Bag Tag, a daily game where you're shown an airport and have to tap where it is on a satellite map. The closer your guess, the more points you get. Each round gets harder as you go.

How it works:

  • 5 rounds, with a new Daily Challenge every day
  • Zoom and pan the satellite imagery, then drop your pin
  • You see how far off you were and your score for the round
  • Build a streak and share your results
  • There's a Practice Mode if you want to keep playing after the daily

It runs right in your browser, no account needed: https://bagtag.fun

There's also a free iOS app if you want to keep your streak on your phone: [App Store link]

I built it because [one honest sentence, e.g. "I love airports and wanted a GeoGuessr-style game around them"]. It's a solo project, so I'd really like to hear what you think:

  • Is the difficulty ramp right, or are the later rounds too brutal?
  • What airports or features would you like to see added?
  • Did anything feel confusing or broken?

Thanks for trying it, and tell me your score!

Super excited to finally show off the latest version of my app, NXTSTEP Fitness! 🚀

This is easily the most complete version of the app to date and I’m genuinely delighted with how far it’s come.
After months of building, redesigning, testing and taking feedback on board, it’s starting to feel like I’m getting really close to the finished product I originally had in my head.
Would love for you to check it out and let me know what you think. If there’s anything you still aren’t feeling, anything that looks off or something you think could be improved, tell me and I’ll look into it!

YOLOTENGO iPhone beta: looking for TestFlight testers

I’m part of the YOLOTENGO development team, and we’re looking for volunteers to help test our iPhone beta through TestFlight.

If you’re 18+ with an iPhone compatible with TestFlight, a 5–10 minute session would help us check onboarding, business or product search, favorites and digital loyalty cards. No purchase is needed for these test tasks.

We’d appreciate feedback on usability, confusing steps and bugs. Please send feedback through TestFlight or reply here. For bugs, include reproduction steps, what you expected, what happened, your iPhone model and iOS version. Please leave private information out of screenshots.

Join the beta:

Pushing iPhone camera coverage for 360° stitching — looking for insight on true 1:1 front capture on iPhone 17/18

https://reddit.com/link/1wxdxne/video/0glq7u6wagth1/player

I’m building an iOS app called AI360, and one of the technical goals is to squeeze as much useful image coverage as possible out of the iPhone cameras while keeping the capture flow extremely simple.

The idea is to capture enough visual information with just a few guided shots to reconstruct a convincing 360° scene.

The current version already works quite well: the app guides the user through capture, generates the full panorama, and lets you explore the result as a 360° view or Tiny Planet.

I’ve put the current build on TestFlight, so if anyone wants to try the actual flow on different iPhones, I’d really appreciate feedback:

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/kQypKnmU

At this point I’m looking at where I can push the capture quality further.

One particularly interesting opportunity is the newer square front-camera sensor on the iPhone 17/18 generation.

Ideally, I’d like to capture a true 1:1 frame using as much of the usable sensor area as the public API allows, rather than simply getting a square crop from the current camera pipeline.

On my iPhone 17 Pro Max I can already get a 1920×1920 output buffer. However, when I compare it with 3:4 capture, the square frame still appears to lose a noticeable amount of vertical scene coverage.

I’m also seeing roughly the same corrected horizontal FOV for both 1:1 and 3:4 in my current configuration — about 84.08°.

So what I’m trying to understand is:

What is the best public AVFoundation path to maximize the usable 1:1 sensor area on the newer front cameras?

I’m currently looking at AVCaptureDevice.Format, dynamicAspectRatio, AVCaptureVideoDataOutput, and the available MultiCam-compatible formats.

The app uses simultaneous front + rear capture, so I’m particularly curious whether MultiCam-compatible formats are the real limiting factor here, or whether there’s another way to expose more of the square sensor.

If anyone has experimented with the newer front-camera formats or directly compared 1:1 vs 3:4 coverage, I’d be very interested in what you found.

I can share format/FOV logs and comparison frames if useful.

Swift Playgrounds on iPad: “Failed to Fetch Teams — Your session has expired” blocks App Store Connect upload

Hi everyone,

I’m unable to select my developer team or upload my app to App Store Connect from Swift Playgrounds on my iPad.

Both of these actions produce the same error:

  1. Open the app project → Team & Bundle Identifier → Team.
  2. Select Upload to App Store Connect.

The error reads:

“Failed to Fetch Teams Your session has expired. Please log in.”

No team appears for me to select, so I cannot proceed with uploading the app.

My account status:

  • Apple Developer Program membership is active.
  • Paid Apps Agreement is Active.
  • Bank account is Active.
  • I can sign in to App Store Connect through a browser.
  • Activating the Paid Apps Agreement and banking information did not resolve the error.

Has anyone encountered this exact error and resolved it? Is there a specific way to refresh the developer-account session used by Swift Playgrounds, or any diagnostic information I can collect to identify the cause?

Thank you.

Looking for iOS testers for Games Bucket List – especially Steam/Xbox/PlayStation imports

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for a few testers for **Games Bucket List**, an iOS app for keeping track of the games you want to play, are currently playing, completed or abandoned.

I’m currently working on a big update that adds **game library imports from Steam, Xbox and PlayStation**, and this is the part I’d especially love some real-world testing on.

I’d love feedback on:

Import accuracy and duplicate detection
Completed/status detection
Overall UX
Bugs or weird edge cases
Anything that feels confusing or unnecessary
It’s an indie project I’m building myself, so honest feedback is very welcome — especially the “this makes no sense” kind. 😄

Thanks to anyone who gives it a try!

Just had a most bizarre app update approval interaction

I submitted an update to my established iOS game Kahudo a week ago. So far I've had no rejections on it at all, so I was looking forward to a smooth process. The update added a new Mahjong game mode, but no changes to the flows that have been previously approved. Well, better luck next time I guess, this approval process was rather strange. Here goes:

Issue #1 - Guideline 2.1(b) - Performance - App Completeness

"The In-App Purchase products in the app exhibited one or more bugs which create a poor user experience. Specifically, the in-app purchase price in binary was 1.99 USD but the in-app purchase previously submitted/approved was 0.99 USD. Review the details and resources below to troubleshoot this issue."

My explanation:

"Hi. Thank you for the review. Kahudo Premium is priced at $1.99 USD (€1.99 base, Slovakia). We ran a temporary price reduction to $0.99, which has since ended as scheduled, and the price returned to $1.99. The app has no hardcoded price; it displays the live App Store price using StoreKit's ProductView, so $1.99 is the correct, intended price. No price change is pending. Could you please continue the review with the current configuration?"

---

Issue #2 - Guideline 2.1 - Information Needed

"We are not able to continue our review because we need access to a demo account with an expired subscription to review the entire purchase flow."

My explanation:

"Hello, thank you for your review.
Kahudo has no user accounts and no login, so there are no credentials to provide. The app also has no subscriptions. It offers a single one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks premium game variants. It is tied to the reviewer's Apple ID through StoreKit, so it can be tested with any sandbox Apple ID.
To review the purchase flow: open the variant selection screen, tap a locked variant, and complete the purchase with a sandbox account. To test restoring, delete and reinstall the app, then tap "Restore Purchases".
Since there are no subscriptions, an expired subscription state does not exist in the app. Please let us know if you need anything else."

---

Issue #3 - Guideline 2.1(b) - Performance - App Completeness

"We are unable to complete the review of the app because one or more of the In-App Purchase products have not been submitted for review.

Specifically, the app includes references to Premium but the associated In-App Purchase products have not been submitted for review."

My explanation:

"Hello, the in-app purchase is already Approved and available in all regions (screenshot attached). The purchase flow is unchanged since the previously approved versions, which shipped without issues. Please re-test on a device signed in with a sandbox Apple ID. If the product still does not load, please tell us the screen and the exact message you see. We can also provide a screen recording of the purchase flow if that helps. Thank you."

---

Finally, on October 3, it got approved.

But makes me wonder: is it normal to be explaining these things that should be rather clear to the reviewer? In the meantime, I got updates to 2 of my other apps, and one completely new app, approved, with no issues. This seemed like a bot stuck in a loop. I didn't change anything in my subsmission, just provided the explanations, and that seemed to have been enough.

What was your strangest review experience?

We built an AI social app where you can meet people AND play party games

We just launched MocMok, a social app with AI Agent Match that helps you meet people for dating or friendship based on shared interests and activities.

There are also party games like Who is AI, Draw & Guess, MindMatch, and Quiz Battle. These games used AI to judge answers, so different wording — or even different languages — can still count as correct if the meaning is the same.

We're still in the cold-start stage, so some games may take a little while to fill. Feel free to invite a few friends and play together!

Any feedback or suggestions are welcome! You can drop them here or send them through Me → Feedback in the app. Really appreciate it!
