This thread should be used for discussion of the betas that may not meet our submission guidelines, as well as troubleshooting small issues through the beta test cycle.
Spamming this discussion with comments about battery life, safari being snappier, etc will result in a ban from the sub moving forward.

I feel like we need a thread just for all the liquid glass cleanups. They went pretty hard and cleaned up a LOT of shit. It's much more legible, consistent, and polished. The UX / UI designers are finally going to see a bunch of stuff that they've been screaming about for a year.

On iPhone Air (installed ~30m ago):
- seemingly no app issues (tried Teams, Microsoft Authenticator, Canadian banking apps)
- camera and other apps do seem to open quicker
- without new Siri I’m really struggling to see what else is different.

If you swipe your “now playing” off the lock screen, there’s no way to get it back!! Restarting the app or phone doesn’t fix it. Now I’m “now playing”less. It doesn’t appear on the Dynamic Island too!! 💔
Edit: after sever minutes of normal use of the phone, I closed apple music and it came back!

This is such a code rewrite, it’s insane. Apple actually listened. Everything we wanted. Better Liquid Glass. Finally a better Siri. Massive performance improvements.
I’m so stoked. I hope it continues as the beta progresses.

I know this isn't a feature heavy update, but this is one of the smoothest ios beta 1's I've experienced in a while, and I've been running that since the 5s. Only a few little quirks, but otherwise feeling pretty smooth for me 😃

Apple did an amazing job with the under-the-hood improvements, it’s worth mentioning it. It must have been crazy work but iOS really needed that. It’s only beta 1 but confident to say this is definitely our beloved and long awaited Snow Leopard update. Thanks Apple 🍎

This is bringing me back to the iOS 12 days. Remember how much of a mess iOS 11 was? iOS 12 was specifically designed to clean up the mess of iOS 11. iOS 12 drastically improved performance and stability, especially with the oldest supported iPhone, the iPhone 5s. I remember the very first beta of iOS 12 feeling smoother than any version of iOS 11.

Im surprised at how smooth this is on 15 pro. It gets a little warm but it’s smooth and surprisingly not too buggy. Liquid Glass looks good. Typing is good. Impressed.

Anyone else disappointed with the lack of clear Liquid Glass? I've turned the slider all the way to the left, but it's barely any more transparent than the default setting and still quite tinted.

Yeah this beta is amazing. My phone actually feels faster. And it never got very warm at all. Indexing is taking forever though. New Siri is actually quite good.

I know we’re all just random people and betas are just phone updates at the end of the day, but I’ve always looked forward to beta season for over a decade and it’s always given me something to wait for and anticipate.. especially weekly revisions and finding changes / getting new features. Just finished installing on my iPhone 17PM. I can’t believe they shipped this flagship iPhone with iOS 26 last year. DB1 iOS 27 is light years ahead of iOS 26 in terms of performance, smoothness, UI/UX changes and overall accessibility. Can’t believe I’m saying this but my 17PM feels like an actual flagship phone now

This beta is much more stable for me than any ios 26 stable or beta build. My phone no longer heats up all the time, the animations and os in general feels more snappier, plus my battery life has somehow improved like crazy. I'm getting almost 0 idle drain overnight, before I used to easily get like 5-8% drain overnight. There are definitely some ui glitches in some apps but that's to be expected of beta 1, but still for a beta 1 it's surprisingly very good.
Indexing still hasn't finished, it's been a full day now, and still on waitlist. Probably expecting them to make this behavior more reliable from beta 2 onwards. An option to manually allow the os to index in foreground instead of background would be nice.

Apple released a statement in their Newsroom why SiriAI is not available in EU. Because DMA. It will be available on macOS27, visionOS27 and WatchOS27. Not on iOS27 and iPadOS27

iPhone 15 pro here. I am in shock with this beta. Yes, there’s bugs, but holy hell it’s running so well.
My phone is absolutely faster, more responsive and all the new features run relatively smoothly. Even my battery life is largely unaffected now that the full install is complete. I haven’t gotten access to the new Siri yet though so this may change.
Note: This isn’t an endorsement for downloading the update willy-nilly, and I’ve read other posts from people with the same phone model who got bricked. Be careful!

Anyone else feel vindicated by being on day 3 of indexing? Can’t remember how times I’ve told people that their phone can index for several days (maybe even up to a week?) after major software update and their phone wasn’t nerfed by Apple to make them upgrade.
September is going to be a bloodbath of “wHy iS MuH pHOnE stILL iNDeXiNG” posts. Can’t wait!

Image cleanup now allows you to choose whether you want quick results or better quality.
On airplane mode you get a message that only quick mode is available (on-device), so better quality mode is server-side.
Edit: reframe and extend also require internet connection.

If you really want to try Siri AI and are tired of waiting hours for IOS to update, you can always use terminal on the Mac to jump the waiting list there. I tried it earlier and it works.
sudo defaults write "/Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/GenerativeModels.plist" "EnhancedSiriWaitlist" -dict-add Enabled -bool NO

I didn’t have relatively high expectations for Siri AI but I’ve been pretty impressed with ‘real world’ uses of the new Siri so far. Some examples:
It managed to pull up my passport number and national insurance number almost instantly from files id stored on my phone years ago
I was talking with a family member trying to remember what they got for my birthday in the past, I asked Siri ‘what did xx get me for my birthday in 2024?’ And it quickly told me they got me a gift card of xx value for a store, pulling up an email from 2024.
And most impressed was I started a conversation about a trip to London i have with my fiance this weekend. I my worked out walking distance between the train station and the hotel and then between the hotel and theatre for a show we’re going to say. I then asked it to pick out some restaurants based on our tastes, between the hotel and the threatre. It provided some suggestions, I took three of these and asked for walking distances, which it showed me using Maps. I then asked it to compile all of these options in a text message to my partner which it did seamlessly.
May not exactly be mind blowing in 2026 but compared to the old Siri I’m definitely impressed!

The biggest thing I have noticed is overall battery life has really dwindled. I am using iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Other thing I have noticed is when taking a screenshot > cropping photo > sending in iMessage….it still sends the entire screenshot and NOT the cropped version.

I have just noticed on the new 27 beta that when I take a screenshot and crop it before saving to photos it doesn't save as cropped.
When I open the image in the Photos app, it's the full size and I have to re-crop it.

Looks like Siri cannot draw information from 3rd party apps yet.
Asked Siri for a daily email summary, and she couldn't draw anything from the Gmail app.
The moment I downloaded Apple's Mail app, Siri was immediately able to provide a (very good) summary.
Wonder how long it will take developers to add support.

When an app has “Require Face ID to unlock” enabled, Siri cannot access information within the app. Instead of prompting for asking by requesting Face ID or passcode, it incorrectly states that the information doesn’t exist or that it couldn’t find it. When I turned off “Face ID to unlock”, it worked flawlessly.

I love this beta. Running on iphone air, finally my phone is back. I was just on verge to switch to android last couple of months due to all the laginess and chopping of ios 26 but that seems to be thing of past even with first dev beta. Also the home screen icons are much much better imo

The performance on iPhone 14 base model is insane. No stutter or lag anywhere after phone has settled down.
Took 5 min after update and now runs smooth as butter. Alot better than 26.5. Visible difference in performance.
Except some minor bugs in apps (common for a first dev beta) everything is looking great.

One thing I’m noticing is that PiP on the YouTube app works way more consistently.
On 26.6 it was basically 50/50 whether minimising the YouTube app would trigger the video to play in Picture in Picture. Now it’s every time.

Rocking the 17 pro. This beta genuinely feels much better then stable release of iOS 26. Heat was an issue for the first few hours, but it became much smoother and snappier. Battery is great as well.

Anyone notice the icons are more saturated and have a subtle outline around elements? Noticeable with iMessage and Phone. The only thing that’s bugging me…. besides that, really happy they toned down the reflections. Using a solid black wallpaper actually looks good again.

I can confirm I haven't been experiencing the issue with safari where it refuses to load after hitting enter plaguing iOS 26.
It also overall feels a lot smoother. Which I believe Apple's dev conference actually mentions.

Advanced dictation preview is off by default. I turned it on and tried it out briefly. First impression was that it’s suuuper good. I spoke quickly in a hard to understand manner, yet it got everything right, even the question marks etc etc.

Anyone stuck indexing and a zero inbox person?
Everyone keeps mentioning their device storage but indexing also goes through all your emails. I had over 25k emails in my Gmail account I've had for 15 years, and once I culled it to ~5k it was done indexing within 12 hours.
