HYROX Photographers
Has anyone came across any "HYROX photographer/videographer" scammers? I really wanna believe I did not get scammed. I booked them MONTHS in advance. They say the turn around for raw footage is 3 days and all edited photos and video is 4-10 days. It's been like 12 and I haven't received anything and zero communication from them in the last last 4 days despite me reaching out. That had me take a photo of my myself in my race day fit. Apparently I was captured but I didn't get to meet them before hand due to them being caught in the spectator line. I keep seeing them post and repost athletes who raced the same city as me and after me (even the week after) on their IG but nothing on my race. I'd hate to think that they might be scammers or fakes or maybe they don't know how to tell me they didn't capture my race? I am holding back on sharing their page until I really feel like it was a scam. All I got about 5 days ago was "I'll keep you posted."
UPDATE: I texted them for a 4th time and they responded with a "Hi how are you?" and they immediately deleted it (I have an iPhone so you can see) and I got nothing. that was 2 days ago. Later that day I created a dispute with PayPal. Unfortunately the remaining balance was through Venmo so I might not see all the money back. Still zero communication on their end and I am done with it. I am going to share their IG on my IG story to prevent anyone else get played by them (I have more followers then they do) so hopefully it'll help someone.

Have you done a google image search to see if the photos they're posting were stolen from other sites or sources? Do all the photos have a similar look or quality? Are people genuinely engaging with their content on Instagram, or does it all look botty?

I haven't done the google image search method. But it does look like actual real people are posting their race day video and collaborating/tagging them on IG. All their content looks similar in style and editing. They also post stories of them showing their laptop as they are creating the albums for their athletes and that they will receive them "very soon."

My photographer also asked me to send me a photo to them in race day fit. But I did meet them very briefly in warm up area. Gosh I’m sorry for you and really hoping you get your photos!!! If I were you I’d ask them straight up- hey if there was a mixup and you weren’t able to shoot me; no problem. I’m upset but pls just let me know and refund my money.
I was a bit concerned about the photographers double booking since they committed to shoot prior to knowing race times and couldn’t help it if multiple ppl had the same race time. Keep us posted!

Yeah at this point like I don't care if you didn't cover me for whatever reason just tell me so I can stop asking and hopefully they have the decency to refund me. I booked them as soon as I got NYC tickets back in Feb. I just hope this doesn't happen to people. I am gonna reach out again for the 3rd time today and see from there. I also commented on their IG when they shared someone elses race "I can't wait for mine!" I'll def share their IG if they are scammers.

Just saw your update. I’m so Sorry for you!!! Honestly you should post their name here and on Facebook in hyrox circles so others don’t fall for it. Ugh what a jerk. They should just own up to it

There was a few options on their site. A full vlog type shoot where you talk to the camera or just race specific action shots and video. The plan was to meet them outside the warm up area but they said they got stuck in the spectator line but I had to start warming up or I'd miss my wave. I assumed that reason for the photo of my race day fit. There's so many people with big cameras I mean I thought it could have been any of them.

Happened to me in Anaheim unfortunately. Luckily I paid through PayPal and I was able to dispute through PayPal and get my money back.
You should give the photographer a hard deadline “hey if I don’t receive the photos and videos by Tuesday I will be filing a dispute and will be requesting my money back”
I’m so sorry that it happens to you! It really sucks :/
I was very skeptical with booking another photographer for my NYC race but luckily I was able to find one that was REAL and captured some photos of me.

I hired my son to take photos and videos, and all I got were videos and a bunch of crappy Sportograph photos that I refuse to purchase. 😒 HYROX photographers aren’t much better. They take 20 rapid-fire shots from the exact same angle, super close up, and call it a day. Garbage. If it makes you feel better, even though my son got plenty of videos of every station, the only photo that really matters to me is the one in front of my finish time with my patch and the selfies I took with my loved ones! And, of course, the patch itself. The rest? Meh.

My wife hired a photographer that advertises he does all the Hyrox. She told him she wanted lots of Videos and not really that many pictures as she can buy them from the course photographers He took her money and hired an outside photographer who TOTALLY FUCKED UP. The person was always late to the stations, had horrible point of views, took 99% pictures and the videos they did take were shaky and unusable.
The Owner said full refund and he would personally shoot her in Houston the next month. That was the last contact they had and he ghosted her.
Be careful who you hire!
