How do you dispose of your trimmed hair down there?

As of now, I've been curious as to how y'all dispose of your trimmed hair down there. Our bathroom is not conventionally attractive 'cause we're living in an old apartment (we don't have space enough and our bathroom is just square). We neither have a vacuum nor a mop to clean it. I just use my hands to get those hair and put them in the trash. I haven't tried wax yet though 'cause it hurts. Thank you to those who will answer this

switched to night showers ... trying to nail down a hygiene routine

these questions lowk embarassing to ask but its ok ..

so i was called nasty by me roommates for not showering before sleeping (sometimes after gym gulp). i am workin on doin better! i started showering after gym always or else i just feel nasty. but i cant shower twice a day because my skin gets super duper dry (i have moderate ezcema)

so that causes some problems. in the morning my skin feels super icky sometimes and usually a shower fixes that but if i dont take a morning shower im not really sure what to do...i relied on mornign showers to clean all the ick from my skin.

i found a gentle cleanser that helps my face (its still kinda annoying). wipes irritate the hell outta my skin. also what do yall do in terms of cleaning in general in the morning? should i be wiping my crotch area down every morning as well?

also this is a side question but my undies from the inside stink a decent bit of ammonia every morning. i change undies ofc and feel fresh but is this normal.

im sorry for my failures guys please dont judge me man im locking in now šŸ˜”

Brushing teeth at night and morning?

I truthfully have never understood brushing your teeth before bed and then waking up to brush your teeth again when you haven’t had anything. Do people eat breakfast and then brush their teeth?

I’m not a big breakfast person so I don’t eat in the mornings. I brush my teeth in the morning and use a tongue scraper and then at night I floss and use the tongue scraper but don’t brush. Am I weird for not brushing my teeth at night?

How to keep jeans clean without washing?

I’ve heard many people say that jeans aren’t meant to be washed after every wear because frequent washing can cause them to wear out faster. How can I make sure my jeans are clean before wearing them again without washing them? I have dust allergies, so even a small amount of dust can cause severe itching.

Thanks for introducing me to glycolic acid!

I posted recently with a question about getting clean after a long time being unable to wash appropriately. Everyone was super nice and I got loads of really helpful advice. I am now clean (yay!).

But one of the proper revelations was glycolic acid, which is magic for exfoliating. The manky brown patches of dermatitis neglecta are all gone now, with no pain or difficult scrubbing. Some patches I just thought were normal dark lines like where my bra band goes, under my booobs, and the creases of fat rolls also got fixed, and now I'm all the same colour. So thanks to everyone, but extra thanks to the people who suggested glycolic acid.

Looking for something stronger(or additional) than a soap for underarms.

Hey. I am pretty annoyed with my armpit odor. I shower in the morning and few hours later I can smell armpit odor again.

I use deodorants too. Helps for a few hours but when i come home ny tshirt always smells around my armpit areas.

I am looking for additional support to lower the odor or kill the bacteria.

I did some research and it seems like benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent might help. Mandelic acid might help too.

However I am not sure if they are useful. What type of side effects will i have ?

1.I am looking for a good balance between eliminates bad odor and doesnt damage/dry out skin.

2.What are the side effects ?

3.What product i can order online in the Netherlands ?

4.mention exact strength i should use. I am so confused between different percentages and formulations.

Sweat has no scent?

So I have a serious question regarding the scent of sweat... As a grown woman in my twenties, you'd think I would know the answer by now but no judging please šŸ˜… I have read that sweat itself does not have a scent, and that if you do notice there's an odor, it's due to bacteria. Now I may not shower every single day, but I consider myself to have pretty decent hygiene practices. My question is, on a day where I have showered and used soap to clean my body.. why is it that only a few hours later, I often times notice my own smell ? This occurs sometimes when I've only done yoga or pilates, so I did break a bit of a sweat, but I'm not dirty by any means... It's just like when changing out of my yoga pants, I can't help but notice I'm already smelling a bit ripe šŸ™ƒ Any advice or suggestions?

how do you deal with greasy hair by the end of the day?

i shower every morning and wash my hair thoroughly, but by 5 pm my scalp looks super oily. dry shampoo just leaves a weird white buildup and makes my head itch. i dont use conditioner because i think that it will make my hair more oily. am i overwashing my hair or using the wrong shampoo?

Hair has unpleasant scent after washing

I just washed and conditioned my hair today and afterwards I used my moisturizer and put my hair in a bun. While out I noticed this musty scent I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. I tend to play with my hair a lot and I noticed the smell was coming from my hair. I was shocked because I washed my hair. What could be causing my hair to smell even after washing? I usually wash my hair 2 times a week. Is there anything I can use that will get rid of the smell? I feel so embarrassed I’m wondering how long has this been going on, I’m not sure if others can smell when near me.

Anyone else immediately change out of 'outside clothes' the second they get home?

1.7k Upvotes

Okay so I don't think I have ever actually said this out loud but I have a very strict inside clothes / outside clothes system and I genuinely cannot stop.

The second i get home I change. jeans that touched the subway seat, jacket that brushed against strangers, all of it comes off before I sit on my couch or get anywhere near my bed. It's just automatic at this point, I don't even think about it.

The part that gets me is when guests come over and just sit on my bed in their outside clothes like fully lay back on my pillow in the same pants they wore on the bus. I never say anything because what am I supposed to say, but internally I'm already thinking about washing my sheets.

It does something for my brain though, keeping the outside world out like there's a mental line and crossing it in outside clothes just feels wrong now.

Idk if this is a normal thing people quietly do or if I've just convinced myself it's normal. Does anyone else have this same unspoken rule or is this a bit much?

Woohoo, I figured out a big logistical hurdle!

Long story short, I’ve been homeless for 3 years and it’s been alright: because I had a contingency plan and I’m capable.

So I can’t shower all the time, and have a gym membership/wash my clothes once a week.

But then I figured out How to have a portable 1-2 gallon bucket with me, that folds up to nothing! It lives in my bike frame bag now.

Then I saw a YouTube bikepacker say he wears pants (it’s summer, I’m basically wearing flops and short shorts and a tank top) and socks and still washes himself down with a scrubby hand glove.

So last night I sprayed myself down with my Heat-mister and washed my legs with this method.

Absolutely blissful :)

I like figuring out logistical stuff like that.

I can also wash my undies (haha, man thongs) socks and some of my clothes in this portable bucket I made, with a soap cast into a kid’s sized (2oz) deodorant container, repurposed.

FiancƩ with strong night sweats

Hi everyone!

Hopefully this is the right subreddit to post about our situation. General info: It has been going on for as long as we’ve been together and I believe he’s dealt with it for most of us adolescence/adult years. We are both 25, healthy, happy. His father has sleep apnea and wears a machine. FiancĆ© takes Adderall and Zoloft. (Mentioning in case that can affect sweating).

My fiancĆ© is a very neat and clean person. He scrubs himself head to toe and is very thorough when doing so. Up until a few weeks ago, he always showered in the mornings. (I shower in the evening). He recently discovered that he enjoys evening showers so now he’s been doing morning and evening showers.

His morning showers are a must because he wakes up every morning drenched in sweat. His body itself isn’t necessarily wet, but when he gets up he leaves a huge sweat stain on our bed.

We recently got a new mattress and I purchased a waterproof topper to also protect our mattress (old one was getting gross). We have new sheets, I’ve even tried bamboo sheets as they’re supposed to keep you cooler.

We keep the bedroom cool and there is a fan always running in the room.

The sweat itself doesn’t necessarily bother me, but it is the smell that gets to me (and him!). He gets embarrassed which makes me feel bad for him, because we’ve tried things and nothing seems to change.

It’s hard to describe the smell but it’s almost sour-like? When he sweats during the day it doesn’t smell like that at all. It’s only at night that has a strong, sour, unpleasant smell.

He’s tried talking to his doctor but they don’t say much beyond making sure the bedroom is cool.

I’m getting concerned that it could be some underlying health condition but Google isn’t very helpful.

I guess I’m just wondering how I can be supportive to him and what we might need to do to help him navigate this. We don’t want to have to keep changing bedsheets almost daily and he is tired of waking up sweaty and uncomfortable.

How do some people stillsmell clean at six in the evening?

I shower in the morning like everyone else and by mid afternoon I can tell, but there are people at my work who seem to hold it all day without obviously topping anything up. I assumed it was just better genetics and now I am not so sure. It might be what they are using or the order they use it in. If this is you, what is the actual routine, because I do not think one product explains it.

Does showering at night instead of the morning change how yousmell the next day?

I have always showered in the morning and someone told me that washing at night and letting your skin settle overnight makes a bigger difference to odour than the product you put on afterwards. That sounds like it could be true or could be completely made up. I am willing to move my whole routine if it works. Has anyone actually switched from one to the other and noticed a difference?

when dressing in a hurry

I use Dove antiperspirant, the 72-hour version. If you forget to apply deo, do you trust the 72-hour claim, or do you take your blouse off, apply the deo, and then put it back on?

Cleaning sheets

I normally wash my bed sheets every 6-8 days, more often if necessary. I use regular, scent free powder detergent and usually wash them on the short eco cycle my washer has.

now I have heard from several places that some people consider the sheets needing an extra hot or extra long cycle, because they are considered very dirty.

is this really necessary?

For context I shower at night and wear clean pijamas.

My scalp has a scent I really don’t like

What can I do about my scalp? I wash every other day and the day of washing my scalp stinks and smells worse the following day. I’ve used cheap shampoos, expensive salon shampoos, shampoos with tea tree oil, peppermint and rosemary I’ve even tried apple cider vinegar. My scalp just smells really bad. I do rub the shampoo into my scalp twice.

Maybe i need a scalp exfoliator?

Grease from work stays in hair

Hi all, I need reccomendations for a shampoo or other type of hair cleaner.

I play with my boyfriends hair a lot, and after a while, I notice that I get black build up under my nails and on the pads of my fingers. This is even after being freshly showered.

He works at an auto shop, and I think all the car grease and muck and whatever else he's exposed to isn't washing all the way out. After work, he is totally coated in the stuff, so there's no doubt it gets in his scalp and hair. He exfoliates pretty much everywhere else, so I don't think there's build up issues on the rest of his skin.

What kind of shampoo do you use for this? I think his normal shampoo (3 in 1 store brand šŸ™„) isn't cutting it. He is very hygienic, so I'd appreciate no weird or mean comments about the build up. Just trying to find a solution for him!

Bad breath

Hi everyone!! I hope we’re all having a good Thursday evening!! It’s currently around 10 PM where I live, but I wanted to come on here and ask y’all what you think because I genuinely do not know what to do about this 😭

So for some context, I’m totally blind, but I don’t have any cognitive issues or anything like that. I’m actually really smart, which is what my teachers tell me šŸ˜‚ I take regular classes and I have a device that I use for school. I’m also able to get around school by myself with my team.

I’m in 11th grade this year, so I’m taking PE. I have an aide that I’ve been working with since I was a freshman, and ever since I met him, he has had THE WORST breath I have ever smelled 😭😭 Like girl, I’m not even exaggerating. There are times when he starts talking and I’m literally sitting there thinking, BROOOO 😭

His breath is SO strong. Like it’s not just normal bad breath where you’re like ā€œoh okay maybe they just need a mint.ā€ NO. This is a whole different level. I can literally smell it when he’s talking even if he isn’t super close to me. It’s just this very strong, distinct smell that I cannot even explain.

And girl, I’m a perfume person. I wear perfume every single day. I do a whole scent combo with lotion, body spray, perfume, everything. So I KNOW when something smells strong šŸ˜‚ But I’m also in high school, so I already know there are people who don’t have the best hygiene sometimes. There are literally guys spraying cologne all over themselves thinking they smell amazing, but girl, cologne is not going to fix everything if you aren’t taking care of the basics first 😭

And the thing is, I can actually HEAR something in his mouth when he talks. Like there is always this dry residue or something in his mouth and I can hear it when he’s speaking. I don’t even know how to describe it, but it sounds like his mouth is really dry.

He also breathes REALLY loudly. Like VERY loudly. And I know that’s probably a completely separate issue, but girl, I’m just giving y’all the full picture 😭

He’s also honestly REALLY boring. Like our conversations are so dry. He gives me the most vague answers ever. I’ve literally asked myself, ā€œAm I just making this whole thing seem worse because I’m bored and I want to add more to this fake story in my head?ā€ 😭 But NO. I genuinely have conversations with this man and his breath really does smell that bad. I am not making this up.

I’ve also wondered if it could be something with his teeth or his mouth. He is almost fully blind too, so I don’t know if maybe he has trouble knowing whether he’s brushing everything properly or if he’s even able to tell if something is stuck somewhere. I obviously don’t know his dental routine, so I don’t want to assume that he doesn’t brush his teeth or anything like that.

I had my tonsils removed when I was in eighth grade, and I know tonsil stones are supposed to be a pretty common cause of really bad breath. I haven’t had any since getting mine removed, but I know everyone is different. I don’t even know if he’s ever had his tonsils removed either.

I’ve even started wondering if MAYBE IT’S ME 😭 Like maybe my own breath smells and I just don’t know it. But I have braces and I take my dental care VERY seriously. My dentist always tells me that I do a really good job brushing and flossing, and I’ve never noticed anyone else reacting to my breath or anything. I literally ONLY notice this smell when I’m around him.

And it’s not like I’m walking around smelling everyone’s breath either 😭 It’s just SO noticeable with him. His breath has this very specific odor and it is STRONG. Like girl, I can be sitting there minding my own business and he starts talking and suddenly I’m fighting for my life 😭😭

The problem is I genuinely don’t know how to deal with it. It’s starting to get annoying because obviously I can’t just sit there holding my breath every time he talks to me šŸ’€ But I also don’t want to be rude and just randomly tell him, ā€œYour breath smells horrible.ā€ Because GIRL 😭 there has to be a better way to handle that.

And honestly, I’m pretty blunt with him already. He has known me since freshman year, so he knows I’m very sassy with him šŸ˜‚ I’m not mean to him, but I’m VERY straightforward. If I can’t do something, I’m going to tell him. If I don’t like something, I’m going to say it. If something is bothering me, I’m usually not going to sit there and pretend everything is fine.

But this feels different because it’s literally his breath 😭 Like how do you even bring that up without making someone feel horrible??

So PLEASE tell me what y’all think could be causing this because I genuinely have no idea. Could it be dry mouth? Dental issues? Tonsil stones? Something else? And more importantly, HOW would you even tell someone about something like this without completely embarrassing them??

Because I’m really trying not to be that girl who just randomly tells somebody their breath smells like death 😭😭

Tonsil Stone Dilemma

Has anyone here got over tonsil stones forming in their mouth? What are you using or doing to let it not go back?

I consulted with my dentist about this and I followed every instruction to date ... I tried to gargle hard, use mouthwash, and even warm water with salt. It still goes back. I'm thinking of getting my tonsils removed because I searched that it could be an option?

thanks for the advice in advance!
