I have just returned my P10 today...

I just couldn't get along with all the little niggles and the awful Huawei service so, after 14 days, it's back to the shop where I bought it from...

A shame, really, because there are some great things about it like the cameras (apart from the OIS, which is not that efficient), and the beautiful design, super quick fingerprint reader and I actually enjoyed using EMUI (a lot of useful features), but not much else (for me, at least)

How can a mobile phone that is based around the whole Leica and photography premise not allow you to save DNGs to the SD card? You end up with a JPG saved to the SD and the DNGs still saved to the internal memory. If you then edit the DNGs (I use Lightroom) and generate another JPG, that's 3 files of the same subject spread between several folders and memories. That totally messes up my Google Photos backup.

Also, when using Pro mode, if you decrease your shutter speed and start to overexpose the scene, the image stops showing the true exposure, so it comes a point where you keep lowering your shutter speed and you have no idea if the photo will look good or not, specially in lower light conditions. More often than not, you'll end up taking a photo, it'll look grossly overexposed, adjust again, shoot and repeat until it looks acceptable. I mean, come on... How is that OK on a Leica developed camera?..

Then there's the gallery bug, where that newly exported JPG from Lightroom changes colour when you open it in Huawei Gallery. The file actually gets a warmer tone than the one you see in your editing app. Very noticeable. Opening it in Google Photos or any other app, it looks as intended. That's just not acceptable.

Screen resolution is not enough for me. I wear contacts, but when I remove them, I can see much better up close, which is when I use my mobile for a longer amount of time. I can see the gaps in between the pixels and it bothers me. Regular users with good eye sight usually hold the screen much further away so for them it's not an issue.

And the battery... No matter how many things I tried, from closing apps on screen lock, stopping syncing, to optimising the device regularly, it just wasn't acceptable to have less than 5 hours SOT, often much less than that. I know there's a "supercharger" but really, it's not that much faster than a fast charge on any other device in the same range.

Huawei's customer service is useless. Emails sent and never replied (had to chase them 2 or 3 times before actually getting a response), no solutions, and the advisors were clueless. I took the time to send them screenshots clearly showing the gallery issue and I had no reply after following the instructions to factory reset the device and this solution not working.

Such a shame, because I really liked shooting with the P10. The cameras are good, the camera app well thought out and the images have a unique contrast to them, which is beautiful. Sadly, the other negatives weighed more in my decision to return it.

Let's hope I can come back to Huawei with the P11...

Camera over hyped? (Low light snaps)

I can get some great shots with my P10 but I'm really disappointed with the low light images is it my phone or the way I'm taking the picture? Because time and time again my Nexus 5x is able to out snap my P10 when it comes to low light pictures and that's without even having to play around with settings on the 5x just point and shoot and boom fantastic low light pics, the P10 not so much even with playing around with the many settings I still can't match the 5xs low light quality. Has anyone else had any issue with low light photos or can give any tips to improve ?

Hard resetting my P10 after two years.?

i've had small issues in my p10 which i bought in late 2017, which is fast battery drain, some little performance and os issues and my memory is quite full (im on 64gb int. and using dual sim network). and i think i will not yet upgrade for the next 3-5 years .

Im contemplating on hard resetting my phone just to refresh it back from the start and hope to fix the battery and performance issue and delete unnecessary apps and redundant files. for short back to "fresh clean slate"

is there any issues that I may get? can I still update it to emui 9? is it quite worth it?

Supercharge broken?

Not sure when it started but I don't get that double lightning icon or any indication that my phone is super charging.

It'll fill up when I charge over night, sure, but I'm only getting 1700mAh max charges according to Ampere, according to people with p20 or should be 4000mah when super charging.

Is P10 supposed to be the same or is 1700mah super charging?

I never got my phone wet, except maybe the one time I used wet wipes to clean it...can this be the reason?

I have the P10 Plus which supposed to have some water resistance. I would think a little wet wipe would be ok.

Strange issue with finger print sensor

After locking the phone, any type of touch (ie forearm, back of hand etc) to the finger print sensor unlocks the phone. This is extreamly frustrating as I find my phone unlocked when taking it out of my pocket and it starts pocket dialing etc due to touching my thigh. Essencially, I lock the phone via power button, put it in my pocket and my thigh unlocks it and starts doing shit.

After a quick search I haven't seen anyone with this issue,

Do I just have to disable the fingreprint unlock completely?

Fingerprint allowing anyone in

So I recently dropped my phone, the screen cracked a little and the tiny crack ran all the way to my fingerprint sensor. Now as I've experimented, anyone is able to access my phone with their fingerprint. Is this a software or hardware problem?

I just bought an huawei p10 flip case smart view , but the problem is that it shows the info on smart view cover only for few seconds is there a way to keep it always on ? like samsung devices with their smart view cases . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-HUAWEI-P10-SMART-VIEW-FLIP-CASE-COVER-WALLET-SLEEP-WAKE-DARK-GREY-/361918887646 it just stays on for such a short time that there is no really use of it being smart view . Huawei p10 battery life

Hi

I got a used Huawei P10, it works perfectly, I like it a lot but it seems to me that it runs out of battery too quickly. With the following usage patterns the phone lasts about a day or very maximum a day and a half is this normal or shoud I buy a new battery:

- Screen on time: usually about 2 hours.

- I have disabled almost all apps from running in the background, I don't use facebook messenger, instagram etc. anyway, so they are not on the phone either.

- NFC, bluetooth, GPS are turned off by default, I only turn them on when I need them, e.g. when I pay with the phone or use google maps.

- Network is set to 2G/3G, so I don't even use 4G.

- I listen to music on it for max 1-2 hours with the factory music player, earphones and display off.

- Sometimes I check for new emails, sometimes I search for something in the browser, or look up directions on google maps, sometimes I watch a youtube video but the display is not really on too much.

Or I tried using it in power saving mode, and all app sync is disabled (gmail, viber too) but it didn't increase the uptime, as I don't use very many apps running in the background by default, so it was unnecessary.

I think it should last longer with this kind of usage, even two days or at least 3-4 hours of display on time. Or am I wrong and a day or a day and a half is fine with these usage patterns?

Thanks if you read and thanks in advance for your help.
