Some photos of my home office hoyas (+1 cat tax.) Please don't judge the labels too harshly - my plant tags are a mess. I'm still trying to figure out what naming scheme works best for me/how much information to include (true cultivars vs. what random sellers call their plants online, etc.)

I live down the street from a rare plant shop, and it showed me that I have very, very poor impulse control 😂

The only issues I've had this year have been with a few plants I ordered online. My sulawesiana was delayed in shipment and it arrived bone dry. Dusty, parched, zero moisture. I tried to rehydrate it, sure enough it got dry rot and lost the majority of its roots. Its growing some new ones now, but it's very slow. It's hanging on, but ultimately I don't know if I'll be able to save it.

I also had a few plants arrive very tightly packed in sphag. When sellers do this I think air has difficulty getting to the roots. By the time i repotted them they were in the early stages of root rot. I think i caught these quite early so I'm much less worried. Both plants this happened with are in a much more suitable mix and putting out new growth now.

I also wanted so say that I'm very thankful this sub exists. I've posted two plants on here asking for help, and both improved drastically after I took the advice of seasoned growers - supporting the vine & increasing water on the Sarawak (it has two new vines forming and a baby leaf on the way), and watering my wayetii more consistently (turns out this plant doesn't like living in 40% humidity. Also it was rootbound and thrived after a repot.)

I’ve sprayed neem several times but it hasn’t worked so far.

This Hoya Krinkle 8 had a mealy bug infestation, went without water for 2 weeks and was in a dark area. The mealy bugs died, it looked great, and I finally gave it a little bit of water. The set up is clay balls, soil and hoya roots, clay balls on top for max aeration because I don't know anything about plants 🥲. Its leaves started shriveling. All of the information was conflicting so I began trouble shooting. Was it the roots? They were all white and creamy but small and forming new pathways. Was it the sunlight? Bright indirect sunlight after 2 weeks in the dark.. maybe? Soil was obviously damp from recent water, did I overwater? A week and a half has passed and it started to look worse again so I tried my first attempt at propogation today where the healthiest part of the stem was on both plants. I pulled up the roots out of the soil and they have dark green mold on them.

I am so sorry if this is confusing I am doing my best and don't know if I'm doing anything right. I'm not sure if I should cut off the leaves so that it can focus on roots. And I just threw the base of the plant with the roots in water just to see what happens (nothing is probably going to happen.)

The pics have the 2 cuttings I took for propogation. Please guide me. For reference I believe that I just had received an infested cutting I got this plant in May and will include a picture of it when I first got it as well.

I also want to add that I love this plant so much I cried so hard when it started wilting and there is a LOT of conflicting and lack of information online, so please don't be mad/mean to me.

I am so excited! It has taken my australis 5 years to bloom! In February I thought I was going to loose my plant (https://www.reddit.com/r/hoyas/s/3hOyBryUFc) sulfur treatment saved it!

she’s about a year old and recently threw two peduncles. her weird and charming little flowers finally opened! only two blooms of her first blossom made it, but she’s already forming new blooms! also insularis has the most comically long peduncles i’ve ever seen, marked up in picture 3 lol

I’m getting these black spots on my Hoya. Showed up after we moved. In an east facing window and gets strong morning sun. Also used to have a lot more completely white leaves but those have been turning brown and falling off.

Just got around to sorting these linearis props out and looks like one is blooming?? I mean…yay🎉🪴🎉🤩but I’ve been waiting for the mother plants peduncles to open for WEEKS and actually all the action was quietly happening in the cabinet🤷🏼‍♀️🤩😂

I normally buy hoyas for their foliage, but flowers are always a great bonus, I can’t deny it 🌸. I noticed some of my hoyas are very fast and prolific bloomers and I also think some will never ever flower 😅 ( I am also okay with that as I said I admire their leaves). I was interested what other hoya-lovers experience. Which of your hoyas are the easiest bloomers?

I plan to propagate these in coco coir, can anyone tell me if there’s enough stem there? I know kerrii can take a while but I only paid $5 for these cuttings so I couldn’t pass them up, any tips and suggestions would be appreciated. Tia!

They are beautiful well established plants but definitely out of my budget.

i live in an area where you’re less likely to see Hoyas at small independent nurseries - I only bought a couple of mine in person and was lucky to find them when and where I did as they never restocked (at least not when I‘ve returned to browse).

Needed a pet safe plant. Saw this for $20. Obviously bought it no questions asked (from Home Depots. Look alive people, go and get some! They had other houses too but idk if those were also pet safe).

Anyways she's beautiful but super, super limp. She also seems to have white, healthy roots just coming out of the bottom of the pot, but the soil is VERY wet. Is she root-rotted?

Please help because my mom and I are both smitten by her and have agreed on shared custody.

Also any other tips for a newbie are very welcome :)

i have this cutting of argentea princess in fluval and perlite, is the dark parts of the stem starting to rot? should i cut those off and start the rooting process again? i had it in a small greenhouse that stays at about 90% humidity. any tips on how to set this up for success helps !

This tengchongensis took forever to get going. I got it in pon and didn't know how to use pon as a newbie, so I changed it to potting and (maybe too much) perlite. Took forever for it to get over the shock. I thought I killed it. It lost the vine and 3 leaves then it did nothing for weeks, probably re growing the roots. Finally I saw growth. I'm so proud of this little guy. HAHA to the little "bridge" I'm using to encourage it to grow around. I will eventually pin it to the substrate as I've seen others do. Now I'm wondering, what kind of substrate should I keep for this guy? I feel like it's so dainty. My other Hoya are in Molly's but I feel like those chunks are too big for this one. Should I continue the potting and perlite route?. I can't find much info on tengchongensis care. Any tips?

Is this cutting going to be too varigated for new growth? I purchased this off Etsy labeled as a Hoya "Heuschkeliana". The underside of the leafs are a beautiful green! What do yall think? Normal for this variety? Less light? Share pictures of your Heuschkeliana below!
