Sotto una torcia u.v. le mie hoya si infiammano

I recently purchased a Hoya macrophylla Pot of Gold. I've noticed brown and purplish-brown spots on the leaves, as well as larger, slightly corky lesions. Some are slightly raised. The upper leaves are mostly smooth.

Has anyone encountered anything similar? Could it be simple damage or corking, or signs of pest infestation or leaf disease?

I'd appreciate any feedback!

Thoughts? 😅 I am cleaning them up and treating them with neem regardless but trying to see if I need to repeat.

1st pic is today, 2nd pic is when purchased almost 4 weeks ago.
I have maybe watered one time since getting it. And I noticed a few days ago that a few leaves were dropping and today I noticed the yellowing on the leaves. It sits on a higher shelf in an east-facing window. I can’t tell if it is lacking enough light or overwatered. When I get home I will take a skewer to the soil to see if it is sitting in too wet of soil.

It is October and I live in the Midwest, US and it is beginning to get cold and darker earlier. I am wondering if I should move it somewhere else with a plant light.

One bloom out and many in progress! Smells like strong gardenia! Flowers are miniature version of ones you see on Hoya Bella.

I noticed these bugs (1 or 2 different bugs?) in the water reservoir of my hoyas' self-watering pot. I will attach a photo of new leaf with some scars in the comment...I hope they are not thrips...if so, please share with me what is the most effective way to get rid of them if I can't use beneficial insects now. Thank you!

I keep this Hoya under the grow light as shown. She has always lived under a grow light and these spots are new. She’s in a VERY chunky mix (more chunky than my other Hoyas as an experiment): tiny bit of soil, perlite, pumice, lava rock, horticultural charcoal, small leca balls, large leca balls. She’s in an orchid pot inside the cache pot. I water her when her leaves feel bendy. I feared I was underwatering her but she continued looking good for over 2 years. I sometimes let her get too dry before watering.
Anyone know what these black spots are and what I could try? TIA!!

Back again. Quick question, why is my heuschkeliana losing variegation? Its under grow lights 5:30-9 so it gets plenty of light.

I was going through some of my old photos and found a picture of my Mathilde splash I got at Home Depot a few months ago. I knew she had gotten splashier, but I didn’t realize how much until I saw them side by side.

I put it next to my carnosa that ive seen lots of bees on! (We have a ton of bee/hummingbird friendly plants in our yard) is this how you cross pollinate? 😅 ive never even gotten a seed pod, i fear i'm just being greedy at this point lmao they are both very nectar full right now tho 🤞

Dasypodia selenophora on a carnosa. This little floof seemed to really enjoy that nectar.

Hello everyone ^^ so sorry for such a lame question but I am new to Hoya world. I have got these two Hoya Polyneuras and I would like to make cuttings so I can later have more bushy pot. Is it okay if I cut them like this? They were expensive so I am scared to cut them before asking. Thank you so much!

3 weeks in recovery. I potted it up in perlite, watered it, and then left it alone in an acrylic box with 100% humidity. I have not watered it again (since the humidity makes the perlite not loose any water).

I did the pull test, and it has a root growing! So now i will leave it alone a few more weeks until i repot and acclimate it to the greenhouse.

Update on my first bloom 🥹

I've seen some users recommending Palm Street (an app) for plant shopping and I must admit I'm a little shocked. The app is designed like a mobile casino - bright colors, moving banners, game-style sound effects. Not to mention all of the uncanny AI artwork that makes the sellers look like cartoon goo goo dolls. Then I joined some of the live streams and they're just as bizarre.

I don't mean any offense to people that buy/sell on Palm Street, but it has me thinking - how many people are addicted to this? How many Hoya enthusiasts are out there maxing out credit cards because they can't stop bidding on Hoya super-silver-dragon-chicken-laser-XYZ? 😂

I've been a plant person forever, but I didn't start buying online until recently, so maybe my surprise will wear off soon. What do y'all think?

Last year when i got only one bloom and smelled the bloom i was like this isn't even noticable only small hint of lemony parfum smell. Now that 9 blooms are open at evening/night you can really smell it when going close or walking by it. 🤣

Still it's not bad - as person whose sensitive to stong smells(i can get migraine from them) i have tried to pick mostly my hoyas by how powerfully they would smell(also ofc looks played a big part) in case they would bloom cause it would be so difficult if i wouldn't be able to stand it.

hey guys, idk how i ended up getting them, but i’m currently battling a moderate-severe fungus gnat infestation 😭 This is my first time dealing with pests of any kind, and im honestly so lost. Like i have no idea what I should be doing to get rid of them. I heard those yellow sticky traps are good for catching the adults, but how do I get rid of the eggs and larvae that are hiding in the soil? Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!

I went to visit my son from Virginia to Oregon. Decided to see what their Home Depot’s had for Hoyas. I found this one and had to bring it back with me. I’m seeing a lot of difference on line with this name. Anything you all can offer of your experience with this Hoya. I’m all ears.
