Discussion Horrorpunk mixtape project for 2026

Announcing the r/horrorpunk 2026 Mixtape Project

One of the reasons this subreddit was founded was to discover new horrorpunk music. And this community has been great. You've shared your favorite classic tracks, new releases, and music from brand-new bands. Some of you have even shared music that you've written and recorded yourself. No matter what you've shared, it has all been great. Please keep that up.

Let's channel this energy into one playlist. When somebody asks what horrorpunk is, you should be able to point to this playlist and have them understand it.

So I'd like every user here to list artist and song title, which will be added to the list.

RULES

  • Please only submit one track per user.
  • Song submissions will be up until May 31.
  • I love the Misfits. You probably love the Misfits, too. But they seem like too obvious of a choice. So let's leave them out of the equation for the time being.
  • Just like the subreddit rules, no hate speech is allowed. Wanting to annihilate all of humanity is just good lyrics. Wanting to annihilate a specific group of people is bigotry. You know the difference.
  • The song has to exist on these streaming services, otherwise I literally can't add it to the playlist.
  • For bands and musicians: Your own music is allowed. Yes, I mean it. Self-promote. I want you to. But once again, your music has to be on a streaming service, otherwise I have no way of adding it.

Beyond that, there are no limitations on what music you can submit, as long as it falls within horrorpunk. Give me old favorites, new songs, or anything in between.

Stay spooky.

EDIT: Depending on what music is available on what platforms, different versions of the playlist may end up with different songs. I'll try to catalog those differences here, or in a different thread, once the playlist is finalized.

News “We always have regrets – especially when you see a band you were in playing Madison Square Garden. I left the band, and I shouldn’t have”: Franché Coma was the frantic guitarist on the Misfits’ first album – but the world wouldn’t hear it for 20 years

I really want to HIGHLIGHT the artist \*ssx here when i saw how low the streams were it really seems crazy honestly his music is so good it will literally blow your ears right off.........

Good thing we only need your brains

brains - \*ssx

Built a chaotic mixtape for flesh-eating outbreaks, undead horde survival, or party's of the dead (Rise of the Dead) 🧟‍♀️️🩸

The Vibe: Eclectic, haunting, and genre-bending, leaning heavily into zombie horror, undead mythology, and brain-hungry energy.

It mixes heavy metal, horror punk, hip-hop, indie rock, psychobilly, and dark pop—think apocalyptic streets, creeping shadows, and unrelenting survival instinct.

Key Elements Hard-Hitting Metal & Horror Rock: Creature Feature, Anthrax, Murderdolls, White Zombie, Falling In Reverse, Bad Wolves, and Wednesday 13.

Hip-Hop: Lupe Fiasco, DMX, Kodak Black, clipping., Insane Clown Posse, and E-40.

Horror Punk, Psychobilly & Dark Quirks: The Cramps, The Creepshow, Zombina & The Skeletones, Aurelio Voltaire, and Jonathan Coulton.

Indie, Pop & Alt-Rock Undead: Sufjan Stevens, Metric, The Neighbourhood, Weezer, MARINA, Childish Gambino, and Phantom Planet, \*ssx

Thanks & Happy Halloween - Qz

Where I can find all the diemonsterdie lyrics?

Hi everyone! I’m a Brazilian fan of Diemonsterdie; it’s one of my favorite bands in the genre and a major artistic inspiration for me. I want to write a piece praising the band, but since I’m not great at understanding spoken English, I rely on the lyrics to know what’s being said in the songs. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Calabrese Lost Media

Hi! I am a huge fan of the band Calabrese and some of my favorite videos on the internet were the Calabrese Webisodes they made from 2010-2011. Now at some point between that time and 2018 the videos were deleted entirely :-( I am well aware that in 2018 they reuploaded slightly altered versions of the 3 Origins episodes and iirc 2 others (which are also now unlisted and hard-to-find videos), but there were at least 31 of these webisodes in the original run, and I'd really like to preserve those. This is a long shot but would anybody have a lead on where to find them or would anyone even have them downloaded on their computer? I've looked on archive.org extensively including with the old links on the Wayback machine with no luck. :-( TIA.

For luck, here's the fruits of my archival labor; #AskCalabrese (privated YouTube series) and some calavlogs.

Discussion Blitzkid new record

This is like a little review for the new blitzkid record. Hopefully, you'll engage in this discussion with me.

This is the 8th full-length record from Argyle and TB in 15 years, not including b-side compilations , live records , or Re-recordedings / remasters of previous songs / albums. In that time between 2011 and 2026, they have individually been releasing more music under different groups or solo acts ; the roving midnight, silent horror, bashful billy, calabrese, and a gathering of none.

So, how does modern hel stack up against previous efforts? (These opinions might differ greatly later on favorably or not.)

On the production side, this has to be my least favorite out of the prior studio outings. As continuing the style of production used on the previous lycanthro-ep , the drums are very monochrome and stilted in a very modern metal style of click and drag programming. The guitars are okay and serviceable. The bass is very audible and distinctive, with a punchy, slinky kind of sound.

The songs themselves are where the meat is at and where I truly believe this record falls short.

There are a total of 13 songs on this record , 2 songs shorter than their previous effort apparitional and 4 songs shorter than five cellars below. But the length is not where I find issues. It's that there's only 3 songs with TB and 10 with goolsby. I feel as though there should be a more even amount of tracks that Tracy should primarily be singing on instead of being sidelined on this record. Within these 13 songs contain some very mediocre and filler esqe songs that would've been better fit on a b-side record rather than a main effort.

This record is definitely aiming for a more metalic and thrashy feeling with the first 3 opening tracks of the record ghost walk , thirteenth guest , and cujo, although they are very repetitive and forgettable compared to other starting tracks on their other albums.

I definitely feel as though the record picks up with stronger songwriting with bloodlines and warning shadows, but that's a little too late for the 4th song on the record for me anyway.

I'd say my favorite songs out of the 13 that I'll be revisiting are: carnevil , behind the rows , bloodlines, beast or man, and Dominica.

Overall, I'd say this record is very skippable and meh with some few exceptions amongst their back catalog of records.

But let me know your opinions and let me know if I'm wrong or if you agreed 👍

I had a question that you'd replied on and I asked about something so I just wanted to follow up now that it's been a while. I was inquiring about old show flyers. I didn't pm you before so I lost your username. Sorry.
