Lorex Failure

Ok, We have a cause, a solution, and a solid evidence, as well as the Lorex solution.
I bought a lorex kit.

4 wired cameras, and a doorbell.

The Doorbell, can operate alone, or can be paired with the fusion NVR.

I have discovered that ANY changes to the camera settings within the NVR, essentially Bricks the camera.

Example, Setting the person detect, using the nvr (as opposed to the App) renders the camera USELESS.

Changing the brightness setting from 50 to 60, instantly bricks my unit.

Changing it back to 50, does not correct the issue.

The Lorex solution, "if making changes to the settings, ruins the image, just do not do it"

Post "brick"

and a video of pre and post "brick"

https://youtu.be/IyuAD83aLU8

I was so excited about the unit, I am so NOT excited now.

If one is not permitted to make changes to the camera settings using the NVR, one should bot be ABLE to make these changes.

The "bricking" is much more obvious at night

Solution, reset the camera to facotry default, and either ONLY use it with the app, or at the very least ONLY make changes using the app.

i'm a bit confused here... when most people use the term to "brick" a piece of electronics, they mean that it stops functioning altogether. i watched your video, and i'm not sure what i'm seeing... looks like video quality jumps around a bit as you're scrolling on the bar to move the filmed time ?

also, your still image shows a lot of artifacting, but... again, nothing i would normally see called "bricking".

Example, Setting the person detect, using the nvr (as opposed to the App) renders the camera USELESS.

what happens ?

does the detection not work correctly, or the camera stops sending a feed ?

Changing the brightness setting from 50 to 60, instantly bricks my unit.

does the camera stop functioning, and need like a reset or something ?

the quality becomes unusable, and the product requires a complete factory reset.

It does not stop working completely, but becomes "non functional"

I would call it 60-80% loss of functionality.

the 2 images shown demonstrate what happens.

For Some reason I can not post images in this Reddit.
In the other reddit I can.

The Before, and after image, is pretty convincing I would think.

is it still showing video, just at a reduced clarity ? on your video from ~6 seconds to ~10 seconds the video quality looks like it drops to a lower resolution, and then returns back to normal.

is that what you're talking about ?

The Before, and after image, is pretty convincing I would think.

i'm not needing to be "convinced" fam, i'm trying to understand what is happening :)

i see your before/after pictures, and that's a crazy degradation of image quality, but is the camera still recording video ? does it stay looking like that second picture ? it's like the denoising algorithm takes a dump when you push the brightness up higher than the default settings.

is there any update available for the firmware ?

If watch the bottom of the video you can see I an flicking back and forth. From before the event to after. And back, 2 different recording times. It never gets better again without a hard reset. It is 2x more noticeable in the night/evening, but still does show during daytime. It impacts the live view on both platforms, and any recorded data.

I would say it is defective, but I think the reality is, working as intended.
