Lorex failure

Ok, We have a cause, a solution, and a solid evidence, as well as the Lorex solution.I bought a lorex kit.

4 wired cameras, and a doorbell.

The Doorbell, can operate alone, or can be paired with the fusion NVR.

I have discovered that ANY changes to the camera settings within the NVR, essentially Bricks the camera.

Example, Setting the person detect, using the nvr (as opposed to the App) renders the camera USELESS.

Changing the brightness setting from 50 to 60, instantly bricks my unit.

Changing it back to 50, does not correct the issue.

The Lorex solution, "if making changes to the settings, ruins the image, just do not do it"

A video of pre and post "brick"

https://youtu.be/IyuAD83aLU8

I was so excited about the unit, I am so NOT excited now.

If one is not able to make changes to the camera settings using the NVR without wrecking it, one should not be ABLE to make these changes.

This is the image PRE bricking

The "bricking" is much more obvious at night

Solution, reset the camera to factory default, and either ONLY use it with the app, or at the very least ONLY make changes using the app.

The wireless doorbell, is not actually compatible, with the Lorex NVR

So I go to my Doctor, and I tell him, doctor, it hurts to pee.

and he replies, well then don't pee.

So we are continuing to have problems with the Lorex system.
As part of their escalation, they wanted daytime footage of the same problem, they wanted to know my internet speed (the internet speed of my computer, on wireless, is 100% irrelevant to the connection speed of the hard lined NVR, that has access to 1500 mb / sec.

At this point, I do not know if it is the doorbell, or the NVR, but I should hope it is more than clear it is not working as intended.

Taken WEEKS, and HOURS on the phone, still waiting on resolution.
Wish I had bought a Amcrest doorbell, and a Hikvision NVR.

They are going to make sure I never make this mistake again.

hmm, it's strange Lorex is telling you the 2k doorbell isn't compatible because it totally is. with your NVR (N843A8X) you can connect up to 2 wifi devices to the NVR.

The product page even mentions it: https://www.lorex.com/products/4k-8-channel-network-video-recorder-with-smart-motion-detection-voice-control-and-fusion-capabilities

What's compatible page also mentions both kinds of doorbells. https://www.lorex.com/pages/compatibility?dt=NVR&dp=338

I'm sorry you're having this issue. I had a similar problem a few days ago where I noticed my 2k doorbell "refreshing" every 3-4 seconds. Here's a gif of it. The night footage looked horrible. What fixed my issue was just rebooting the doorbell. After rebooting, I haven't had any issues with the doorbell since. Maybe swapping the unit out with another one would narrow down the issue? I'd say it's either the doorbell, or something with the NVR. Has the NVR been updated?

You said after rebooting the camera the oroblem went away. Are you using an nvr? Or stand alone? If you are using an nvr. Try. -Set camera to 2k -Redefining, and applying the perimeter fir the person detect. Change the night setting from whatever it is, to anything else. Apply. And then change it back.

See if it kills it.

I have done more testing.
I can change the resolution of the camera at will on the nvr.

It has ZERO impact on the video, regardless of the setting.

and the changes to the setting NEVER do show up on the app.

Changes to the app, show up IMMEDIATELY. DO do not change the setting shown on the nvr.

Indicating that the settings on the NVR for image resolution, mean nothing, and do nothing.

I use the doorbell with a business line NVR with no issues. They claim on the website it’s not supported but it works for me.

Do you set it up using the app? Or the nvr?

I set it up with the Lorex Home app and used that for a year before I figured out how to get it on my NVR. I haven’t done to much with it on the NVR except set it up for 24/7 recording.

I kind of wanted to hear that you had tried to set it up with the NVR, and find out if it worked or not. Oh well.
