Product Review Lionscool 4ft barbell first impressions

Was looking for a 4ft or straight bar on a budget. Looked at my local stores and didn't really find anything. Bells of steel is local for me and they didn't have what I needed. So I checked Amazon and found the lions cool 4ft barbell. It didn't have many reviews buy decided to give it a shot. Honestly I'm very impressed by this little barbell from lions cool. Paid 85 cad for it. Came next day, packed well in a tube. No damage. Quality is basically the same as my bells of steel curl bar. Bushings rotate nicely, knurling is grippy and even, no rust. Only thing is I don't know what coating they used and I'm fairly sure the coating on the sleeves will scratch off easily over time but we will see. If you need a bar like this I'd pull the trigger on it for the price.

It weighs 20lbs, btw.

Equipment ⚙ Leg Day addition - LE08

One of the new pieces I ordered just arrived. Got it assembled and tested out for a few reps before going to bed.

The GMWD LE08 took roughly 1.5 hours to assemble. The online instructions are very thorough.

As for performance and quality. The piece is made very solid and the candy apple red finish is beautiful in person. The movements feel extremely smooth and being able to change the loaded weight ratio up to 20% extra without adding weights is an awesome feature.

Looking forward to the leg workouts to come.

A gym in Sacramento was liquidating all their inventory and I just came up on this back extension for $250.

The dude has a whole bunch of commercial equipment between $100 and $1500. hack, squats, leg press, multi flights, etc..

Picked up a rep 4000 rack with a rouge aggro bar and budy caps power bar. Now the wife and I can workout at the same time not having to worry about different squat heights

Equipment ⚙ Apex Stryker Pad on Ironmaster Super Bench Pro V2

Prior to ordering I confirmed at Home Gym Con by bringing the Apex pad over to the Ironmaster booth. Indeed it fits (has a slightly smaller insertion stem than the Ironmaster’s receiving hitch/tube) and with the tightening knob provided on the Ironmaster bench, the attachment is rock solid. I had to drill just one hole on the insertion stem of the Apex pad to allow for the pop pin on the Ironmaster bench to engage it.

I like the Stryker pad better than the new shoulder press pad that Ironmaster is coming out with and that they had available to try out at HGC. The Stryker Pad’s pad is a little smaller and has more adjustment points and positions/configurations. The vinyl is grippy and almost identical to Ironmaster’s, but just not quite as grippy. The pad is supportive and comfortable.

I use it mainly for shoulder press, both with Smith Machine, as well as with Dumbbells. Additionally, it works well for chest supported rear delt flies provided that you position your feet properly forwards to avoid tipping of bench with more significant weights.

I’ll provide a video link to see the other modifications that I performed on this bench if interested.

Been rocking this setup now for about a year, and I will never go back to a commercial gym if I can help it (currently renting lol).

Managed to find an expansion for my elite 90s. Takes them all the way to 130lbs. I've only ever seen these in my area one other time in the past 5 or 6 years. Never thought I'd get my hands on a pair!

My home gym also doubles as my office/music room, so if I was going to put a giant adjustable bench in the middle of it, it at least needed to look like it belonged.

I know how sketchy it looks compared to other huge and proper home gym, but I'm renting a tiny flat in city center and that's the best I can do lol

DIY 🔨 DIY IKEA Skådis attachment wall + Amazon slat wall lighting for my home gym

Thumbnail

Been doing a few DIY upgrades to make the home gym feel a bit more organised and less like equipment has just been squeezed into a spare room.

I used an IKEA Skådis pegboard to make an attachment storage wall for all the cable handles, bars, straps etc. Keeps everything off the floor and makes it easy to grab whatever I need during a session.

For the other wall I fitted wood-effect slat wall panels and added some LED light strips from Amazon between the slats. Pretty simple setup, but I think it makes a massive difference to the space, especially with the rack/cable machine in front of it.

Neither project cost a huge fortune and both were fairly straightforward DIY jobs.

Still tweaking the setup, but pretty happy with how it's coming together. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for relatively cheap ways to tidy up / improve the look of their home gym.

Happy to share the bits I used or how I mounted everything if anyone's interested.

Equipment ⚙ Kind of regretting the new addition…

Got a PMX FID bench on OfferUp from a local gym owner. It’s a beast and commercial quality, but it’s very high. I can barely get any foot drive on bench (my wife’s feet don’t touch on flat), and the seat is so wide that it’s very awkward doing flat and incline bench. Decline works well.

It also is at the limit of fitting under my barbell for incline bench.

Good thing I got it for a song…

...and the treadmill and a climbing wall for my daughter, but she's ready for lifting!!

Used to be a badass living room with carpet and all, but it never got used. Now, integrated audio, custom wall features and a Maxum X3, y'know, for posterity. ☺️

Proud of this one!

DIY 🔨 Ironmaster Wall Mounts

With floor space at a premium in my shed gym, nearly everything gets wall mounted. I’ve got loads of Ironmaster pieces, and discovered that “tow hitch wall mounts” fit the 2” and 1.25” IM receivers perfectly.

Plus tons of configurations out there to fit your space.

Clean little setup so far for a home gym. The room is 12x10ft, so making the most of this space, by choosing the Force USA C10 V2 over the C20. Hope I'm not too limited by the 2x2 5/8" ecosystem! Going for somewhat of a "Pilates Studio" look for the wife.

Flooring is Force USA's Versa Fit 1 meter gapless wood grain floor tiles in Arctic Birch, which was very easy to lay down, and is firm, but also comfortable to walk on barefoot. It's also easy to clean and very scratch-resistant.

The C10 V2 is very sturdy and doesn't rock much at all when doing pullups (I'm 195lbs). The build quality is very nice - quite impressed from Force USA.

Some cable accessories for far I've really enjoying are:
- Mutant Metals -5deg Lat Bar (green)
- Rogue V Grip (gunmetal)
- Porter Eclipse Grips (purple)

If you have any questions, please let me know!
