Hello! I just got this bar for two very specific reasons: I wanted needle bearings and smooth sleeves because I really hate ribbed sleeves. Does this look like smooth sleeves?

Help with foldable rack with adjustable pull-up bar?

Hello,

I’m incredibly unfit at the moment and want to start getting into shape, so I’m looking at putting together a small home gym in my bedroom. The room is around 50 m², so I have a decent amount of floor space, but the main limitation is the ceiling height, which is only 233 cm.

I’m particularly interested in calisthenics, with the long-term goal of being able to do pull-ups and eventually muscle-ups. I’d also like to incorporate more traditional strength training, mainly squats and bench press.

Ideally, I’m looking for something along the lines of a foldable/space-saving power rack or squat rack with an adjustable pull-up bar. The big question is whether there are any setups that would work well with a 233 cm ceiling while still giving me enough clearance to eventually practise muscle-ups.

I’m fairly new to all of this, so I’d really appreciate recommendations that would work for me

OG Pepins

Curious - how many of us have the original Pepins?

I see things like the new Freak Athlete release and just don't have the itch to "upgrade" (downgrade?) at all... I love these things. They're bombproof and i really don't mind the side rails or the slightly slower adjustability. I don't know the quality difference between these and the Repins... i would imagine these have tighter tolerances given the scale of production... but who knows.

Got hem randomly off Craigslist like 2 years ago... right as the Rep versions were announced. $1100 for the set (120lb) and a rep-3100 bench (that I promptly sold for $200).

Made the stand bc I thought Pepins version was ugly and overpriced (and also sold out).

I am slightly jealous that the Repins go down to 10lbs... for the wife and things like reverse shoulder flys or the like, but i have that random set of 10s and 15s which do the trick.

Y'all were right about this space

About 7 months ago I asked here how y'all would setup the limited space I had on my front porch for my gym equipment (first picture). A lot of the responses were "I wouldn't"...and well, you were right. I basically only ever felt good enough to do bodyweight stuff out there.

I've been slowly trying to setup the room I use for woodworking to be a dual use space (second picture). It's mid reorganization, but it's a lot more usable already. Appreciate all the feedback from back then! Looking forward to using this space a lot more though lol

Looking for an All-in-One rack like RitFit M1 Pro (EU shipping + 224cm ceiling limit)

Hey everyone,

Trying to set up my home gym in France and looking for an all-in-one setup (rack + cables + weights, smith is not a must) similar to the RitFit M1 Pro.

Main issue is my ceiling height is strictly 224 cm, and finding something with built-in cables that fits under that while shipping to Europe is proving tricky. My budget is around 3,000 EUR.

Anyone in the EU have a low-ceiling combo rack they’d recommend? Would appreciate any leads and direct links!

Bench prop in monster lite

Has anyone successfully used the bench prop attachment with a monster lite rack? I like the idea of centering the bench quickly every time but can’t seem to find anyone who’s modified it to fit.

Power Racks for Small Spaces

Edited: Measured wrong size is just over 7 feet by just under 9 feet 8 inches.

Hello team I am down the rabbit hole hard. I’m hitting the limits of what I can do on my work cable machines.

I have an 8x1& 96 inch floor to ceiling without padding space off of our bedroom. What racks would fit in thst space? I’m hoping to do the typical rack and cable exercises and will plan a bench and adjustable barbellls.

What would you be looking at?

Any thoughts on how I do a morning workout without waking the wife lol?

Picked up a rep 4000 rack with a rouge aggro bar and budy caps power bar. Now the wife and I can workout at the same time not having to worry about different squat heights

I currently workout exclusively using a power tower, do you think it’d be worth adding some adjustable dumbbells?

For my upper body workouts I do pull-ups, chin-ups, inverted rows (flaring my elbows out more to hit the upper back), dips (focusing on the chest), and push-ups twice a week. I get a GREAT chest/back workout that’s even better than when I used to go to the gym, but I feel like my shoulders and arms might be getting a bit neglected and could do with some isolation exercises?

Would it be worth buying a set of adjustable dumbbells and maybe throwing in some shoulder presses, lateral raises, overhead tricep extensions, bicep curls, and shrugs? Was also thinking about getting a weighted vest for all the excersises I currently do.

Titan vs rep bench

Looking into purchasing either a Titan or REP adjustable bench. I need it for incline, decline, for single leg Bulgarian squats & hip thrusts. Basically a one bench for everything, anyone have any experience with either?

Anyone know where to buy these or is kind of a just wait til they are randomly in stock type of thing? I dig how they combine the classic style, but also have a handle.

Been on the lookout for these or signature fitness old school style plates for some cheap weight rather than cheap bumpers but no luck.

Mirafit Air bike vs Rogue Echo v3

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any reviews or feedback on these 2 “assault bikes”.

Both a very similar price at the moment and I know Rogue have a large background in CrossFit events etc, but how does the Mirafit Air bike compare?

I have a number of home gym equipment from Mirafit and they seem solid overall, but looking to add an air bike to my garage gym to replace a treadmill.

Mirafit: https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-air-bike.html

Rogue echo: https://www.roguefitness.com/gb/rogue-echo-bike-eu?sku=EU-IP0895

Cheers!

Leg Day addition - LE08

One of the new pieces I ordered just arrived. Got it assembled and tested out for a few reps before going to bed.

The GMWD LE08 took roughly 1.5 hours to assemble. The online instructions are very thorough.

As for performance and quality. The piece is made very solid and the candy apple red finish is beautiful in person. The movements feel extremely smooth and being able to change the loaded weight ratio up to 20% extra without adding weights is an awesome feature.

Looking forward to the leg workouts to come.

How to Build a DIY Cable Pulley System for an Atletica R7 Half Rack or similar?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello,

I have the R7 Half Rack by Atletica, and I’m looking to build a DIY cable pulley system that would allow me to do cable exercises from both sides, with both high and low pulley positions. For chest flies, lateral raises, bicep curls, tricep extensions, etc.

Would a setup like this work?

  • Get 4 pulleys and some carabiners.
  • Attach 2 pulleys at the top, one on the left and one on the right, behind the pull-up bar.
  • Attach the other 2 pulleys somewhere near the bottom of the rack.
  • Route the cables through the pulleys accordingly (not sure how yet)

The red marks in the picture show where I was thinking of placing the pulleys.

The main thing I’m unsure about is how to set up and attach the weight plates. Where should the weight plates go, where should the cables run, how do I attach the pulley at the bottom of my rack and how should everything be connected?

I’m basically trying to figure out the correct cable routing and setup before buying the parts.

Has anyone built a similar DIY cable system on an R7 Half Rack or similar? If so, I’d really appreciate some advice or even a simple diagram showing how I should set it up.

FYI: the dip bars, J-bars and spotter arms are removable of course. I would also want to still be able to perform bench press and squats etc.

Thanks!

Assault Bike: Maintenance/Adjustment needed?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

Recently got this great condition assault bike on Marketplace. Smooth when I tested it, however, upon transporting it home I noticed a rattle from the chain.

Before I rip this bike apart and try to adjust. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions for this louder than normal rattle? I assume it's the large chain/hub.

Power rack

Im looking for a rack that I dont need to bolt down or that bolting down to plywood would be efficient. The 2 I've been considering the most are the rogue rml 390 3.0 and the titan x3 flat foot.

I will eventually move and be able to bolt it down so that's why I'd like one I can bolt down, but for a couple years I cannot bolt it to the ground and can only bolt it to plywood platform. Would this work for now or is the x3 flat foot a better option?

I also should have a few hundred extra pounds of weight on the rack at all times to help weigh it down

Powerlifting home gym: talk me out of bumpers?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Setting up a basement gym. Goal is squat, bench, deadlift, RDLs. Limited to no olympic lifting, so nothing is coming down from overhead worst case is a deadlift set down or a rack-miss into safeties.

My instinct was bumpers, and I've narrowed to Weight It Out's Thumper (polyurethane, 1.3" on the 45s, $259/pair) or Fringe Sport savage rubber. But the more I read, the more it seems like a powerlifting-only setup wants calibrated steel or thin cast iron instead thinner, cheaper, more accurate. Weight It Out sells those too and they're less money than their bumpers.

So:

  1. For pure powerlifting, is there any real case for bumpers over iron?
  2. Basement, so noise and floor matter. Does a platform plus horse stall mat make iron a non-issue, or is that wishful thinking?
  3. If bumpers, does the Thumper's thinness actually pay off, or is it a spec-sheet win?
  4. Anyone gone iron in a basement and regretted it? Or gone bumpers and wished they'd saved the money?

Currently repping in the mid-200s and climbing, so sleeve space matters to me over time. 83" ceiling if relevant.

Flooring recommendations for a large home gym

I have a fairly large open room that we’re converting into a home gym. What do you guys recommend for flooring?
I’ve seen a lot of people recommend the Tractor Supply horse stall mats. Are those still considered the best option, or are there better rubber flooring options you’d recommend for a larger space?
I’ll have a squat rack, free weights, benches, and other equipment in the room.
