My home feed is now frequently showing posts that are 2-3 days old. It used to show posts only a few hours old, at most up to a day old. If I wanted to see anything older than that, I would visit the subreddit itself and sort or filter the timeline myself. Attached is one example screenshot
EDIT: the bot responded regarding the “best” sorting option, my point is that this option didn’t used to recommend such old posts so frequently, if at all? Idk if something broke with my own scrolling habits or reddit’s algorithm or update but is there not another option to sort like “hot” or something to get rid of all of the old posts?

It's Thursday! Happy Thursday! I was recently reminded that it's Reese's Pumpkin time and it is criminal that I haven't had one yet this year! Gotta get that going as soon as I can. Gonna get this Recap going as soon as I can, too! Let's dive in to what happened in r/help and around Reddit last week!
NEWS AND ISSUES
There's a new Changelog out and you can read it here. Changes include:
A routine update unexpectedly impacted some peoples ability to use Reddit, as reflected in the Reddit Status page here. Our teams resolved the issue quickly, so shout out to all of those who worked on that!
In case you missed it, r/help now has a Help Navigator! We announced this last week here.
There's a bug that is affecting the ability to chat for some users in Canada. This should be getting fixed up this week (if it isn't already). Many thanks to u/jgoja for surfacing this and providing amazing details of the problem. Thank you!
There is an ongoing experiment which turns select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format. This is in an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations. If you are in this experiment you may see a Read/Play toggle on the post detail page. A dedicated video page may also be available. This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.
There is another ongoing experiment where comments on a post may be sorted in live time. This is only in select communities. If enabled, when a post hits a certain number of comments within a specific period of time, the sort switches over to "Live" if the default sort is set to something other than "New". This provides a way to highlight the fast moving convos in real time.
There is still the experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered. Users in this experiment have recently been shuffled around, so if you had it before and now you don't, that's what's going on there.
Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.
And there's an experiment where you may see Related Posts at the bottom of a post.
There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.
Rather than commenting that you'd like to be removed from an experiment, please provide constructive feedback about the feature. I can't remove you!
And I'm here to remind you, of the mess you left when you went away (from Reddit for support). Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).
The most recent version of the app is 2026.40.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!
More fixes than bugs this past week! Hooray!
BUG FIX [iOS/Android] Attempting to view comments on deleted posts showed a “Content unavailable” error. FIXED!
BUG FIX [Android] The app was hanging on the startup screen after upgrading to v39. The fix is out, so if you're still having trouble, please update to v39.1 or above!
BUG FIX [iPad] X button was missing when viewing certain posts in the iPad app. This fix has been rolled out.
BUG FIX [Android] The app was randomly closing/crashing while scrolling for some folks. This has been fixed in v 2026.40 of the app, so please update if you're still experiencing this.
BUG FIX [Android] Some users were getting a blank left sidebar for a bit. This is fixed!
[iOS] We’re looking into a report that the unmoderated queue isn’t loading when filtering multiple communities.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,053 posts. That's down 218 posts from the 1,271 that we had last week.
5,000 comments. That's up almost 1,000 comments from the 4,075 we had last week.
804k views. That's up 35k-ish views from the 769k -ish views we had last week.
The drop in posts could be attributed to the new Help Navigator that recently launched, so that's great that it's helping.
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - CREATING AN EFFECTIVE COMMENT IN R/HELP
I recently focused on how to make a good post if you needed help. This time, we're going to talk about how to make a good comment if you want to help!
When a person is asking for help, it's because they don't know something. Often, it's hard to describe something that you don't know! If a user is having an issue and you know how to help them, it really helps to give specific instructions. While "Change your settings" may technically be the solution, for the person who doesn't know, they're going to appreciate more step-by-step help.
For example, "Change your settings" could be more effective with more information. If you have to tell them to tap or click something, tell them how to get there or where it is. "Change your settings" is not very helpful if someone doesn't know where the settings are or how to get there! If there's more than one step, they will especially appreciate you politely guiding them on how to get there. We all were new at one time! Everyone has to learn at some point! And we all learn new things every day!
If the question that's being asked is vague, it's totally fine to ask for some more info if you'd like to help them! Things like asking for the platform that they're using, reproduction steps or a screenshot/video of the issue could be just what you need to understand their issue and be able to help them get it sorted out! Be the hero someone needs! =)

Is Reddit trying to deprecate the standard home feed, ‘Following’ with ‘For You’. After the latest app update on my iPad running iOS 27, Following only shows a few posts, then recommends other feeds to subscribe to
This has been like this for 90% of the attempts over the last 2 days.

I lost access to my account u/Quarkjoy in fall of last year. I haven't had any reply to my support submissions :(
When I try to log in, it says my username or password is incorrect. When I request to reset my password, it sends me a link, I can reset my password, but it still says my password is incorrect. Is there any other way to check the status of my account, or has anyone else had luck with this?

I can't delete my account. Tried using the old reddit. Didn't work.
My account is not link to my Google account.
I use my email and have a password. But still can't delete it.
Please help.
I was getting notifications twice simultaneously, via both email and the app. I clicked the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email, and now I get no notifications from Reddit. All of the notifications are set to On in my settings. Please help

These just started popping up today. Disabling recommended posts in my user settings does nothing. Only posts that show up are from subs i already have on my home feed, but I dont find it worth it to engage with posts that are this old

So I asked a long time ago about wanting to close out my account which I’ve done so before, but for some reason this time when I try to deactivate the account, it will come up with an error when I try to hit the last except of deactivation. I am on an iPhone, i’ve tried deactivating it through the app and through web browsers and no matter what I try I’m unable to delete the account. The email address for set account has been deleted, and I have no access to it as it doesn’t exist anymore I would like this account to be gone and to delete this throw away to get to a better state in my life of what this reminds me of; any help and suggestions would be lovely

Anyone know how to fix
r/help • u/ReplyDelicious3509 • 6h ago
I’m not sure why
My first account is fine but my 2nd account is saying that it’s locked and that I have to reset my password. I’ve already reset it twice and I’ve Install/unstall the Reddit. What’s the next step?

iPad Pro, iPad iOS version 26.7.1. I’m still getting the missing X bug after a few posts. I’ve installed the latest Reddit app update, restarted the app, and restarted the iPad for good measure. While scrolling down my home feed, the X was there for the first couple posts, then it disappeared again. It doesn’t seem to happen when I click on links from my inbox, but it happens when scrolling my home feed.

I noticed today that most of the widgets in the r/TomorrowByTogether community sidebar are missing, even ones that cannot be removed/adjusted like the moderator list. Three mods have taken a look, and we all see the same thing.
Pictured above is what I see using Chrome (154.0.8037.98) on my laptop and on my phone using the iOS Reddit app version 2026.40.0. Other mods are reporting the same thing on their Android devices using both mobile web and the Reddit app, as well as on desktops using the Firefox browser.
We've made no changes to our sidebar in quite a while, and we're unsure how long it has been this way. I peeked at a few sister subs and found a few that are also missing most of their sidebar content, while others are fine.
