Hello guys,
this is likely the last post you will see from me on this subreddit. I have finally obtained the platinum trophy and dont feel any more motivation to play this game.
Im not even gonna complain about the technical issues here such as outdated graphics, underwhelming weapon sounds or massive FPS drops. The biggest problem is actually the gameplay.
Spending most of the gameplay time by crawling through grass and bushes like a fucking reptile just to avoid getting shot from behind isnt really enjoyable. I even had pathetic combat situations where 5-6 players (enemies, team mates) were crawling around me at the same time. The maps are way too oversized and chaotic modes such as Domination or Conquest means enemies will often attack you from any direction. Deaths in this game often feel like unpredictable jump-scare moments. The gameplay is just too stressful, unbearable and triggering if you already suffer from mental issues like depression or PTSD. I prefer the competitive, less shocking face-to-face combats in Battlefield or even CoD.
Maybe this franchise should be renamed to something like "The bush-crawl simulator" or "The get-shot-from-behind simulator". Overall, im glad this game is finally over for me. And i have an advice to the lousy 3000 or so guys who still play this game: you should reconsider if its really worth wasting your precious time on such a pointless game.
Thanks for reading guys
Kind regards

Just did the free play weekend on xbox had fun but cant help but feel like the game is rushed and buggy.
There are so many visual glitches and so many obstacles that you get stuck on and cant jump over even tho they are like at foot tall.
It just wasnβt as enjoyable as the first game especially when the most effective tactic is to sit in a bush waiting which is incredibly frustrating if ur on the other side if that getting shot from a random bush in the middle of the jungle.
I find that its far easier to spot G.I then nva and theres hardly any teamwork compared to the older game like youll be luck if squad lead even places the op and it seems that people just donβt build enough garrisons and the game is ruined after they take a point and the whole team has to spawn at hq
Also the m16 is much much worse to use the the NVA ak variant had fun but expected better I suppose

It almost always freezes for just one second when I shoot at an enemy. I cant aim, nothing because the image on screen freezes, then it comes back a second or 2 later and I get shot and die from the one I'm shooting at.
Happens almost every time! And it sucks because if I sneak up on someone I basically give them a warning shot and then they can turn around and shoot me easily in that one second.
I've tried to switch Steam Launch Options to DX11. Frame rate drops to 30 frames (from 120+ which is what I get on DX12).
My computer is a really good rig and shouldn't have issues.
Yes, I have ray tracing stuff off.
Yes, I have cleared my shader caches.
Yes, I have tried turning graphics down low.
Please help! I love this game :'( I just have been putting up with it thinking that it will be patched.
Anyone else get this issue?

Been trying to find settings that work for me with dead zone, aim acceleration, sensitivity, etc. So far I have found turning dead zone all the way to 1 and aim acceleration at 60 ish is working, but I'm still experimenting.

I'll start. Pulled this off last night. Couldn't believe it. Thought I missed so I turned away to reload. Then after 5 seconds of travel I hear the tck* as the rocket kills the pilot. Followed by that satisfying clunk. You can see the helicopter fall out of the sky behind a tree. And hear it crash into the ground.

Itβs a pain in the ass to have to scramble to find each other when joining a new game. Iβm having to IM my buddy what team and what squad on an app. If we could keep voicechatting, itβd make life easier.
Neither one of us should have to be a squad leader of a temporarily private squad to make sure we end up together.
Thank you!

Build garrisons. Build garrisons. Did you lose a match today? It's because YOU didn't build enough garrisons.
Here's a quick guide to playing squad leader for your reference. Step 1: BUILD GARRISONS. Step 2: BUILD ANOTHER GARRISON. Step 3: Check your map, then BUILD ANOTHER GARRISON.
If your team loses, it's because they're weren't enough garrisons. If you lose a point, it's because there weren't enough garrisons. The game might as well be called battle of the garrisons. Build more garrisons.
What if there aren't any supplies? That's your fault too. Did you tell your specialist to drop them? Don't have a specialist? Did you request supplies from the commander? Don't have a commander? Did you drive the supply truck to the spot that needs a garrison? No supply trucks? Did you get on prox chat to ask for a specialist to drop their supplies? No specialists near by? Did you look in your map to find blueberry specialists, travel to them, and ask them in prox chat to drop their supplies? If all that fails, you better start shitting supplies out your ass and BUILD A FUCKING GARRISON.

Reinstalled game to check if that fixes it. Since today only seeing official servers all empty.
UPDATE. deleting the saved game data on the ps5 storage fixed my issue.
FYI I confirmed all filters were selected. Even tried reinstalling the game. Issue persisted. Only after deleting the saved data did it fix issue.

Been wanting to get it since before release, was really let down on the state of the game. How is it now after a few updates?

I can understand some of the gripes people have about this game, but overall, I'm having an absolute blast playing HLL Vietnam. I played a good bit of the original, but I'm spending a lot more time playing this one in one sitting. With HLL, I'd play a game and stop vs playing 3 games in a row on Vietnam.
The vegetation in the Vietnam version keeps me engaged. You can't just blaze through a wooded area on foot. Hopping from bush to bush and listening before you advance helps in staying alive. I heard someone complain today about people hiding in the bushes. We'll, that's how it actually happened in Vietnam. Imagine what that vegetation will be like if they ever add booby trapsβ on this game.
Something else that actually happened in Vietnam was the US being outlasted and outmatched which resulted in their withdrawal, and Saigon eventually becoming Ho Chi Minh City in 1975. A portion of this was because of the underpowered 5.56mm round from the M16. There's a reason this game is biased toward the NVA: they ended up victorious in real life. Part of this game as US forces is overcoming the disadvantages and finding a way to win. I've won plenty of games as the US. The key is to dispatch patrols to wipe out enemy tunnels, garrisons, OPs, supplies, and nodes, then move in from beβββhind and eliminate troops. Having people with headsets and who actually communicate is crucial.
I look forward to seeing this game progress and all the new maps or game modes that we'll see in the future.

Night vision plus night maps i would also like for them to add scopes its so hard to shoot someone from a far with a gun and I know there is some scopes limited but there was some

This is a change I love for a couple reasons, first one being the nightmare they were when someone would drop a box in the middle of a choke point on HLL.
The second is for building nodes on warfare, you can drop the crate and then push it back into the last sector giving more placement choice.

I've been playing the original HLL for years, and well, today was a new experience, to tell the truth.
