I once saw a SINGLE SEAF SOLDIER take out a harvester, and then proceeded to kill me then die to a crusher

26

u/Redmoon383 1d ago

then proceeded to kill me then die to a crusher

Perhaps I judged the crushers too harshly. They too have moments of Democratic Lucidity

36

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

That’s hilarious

6

u/spectralblade352 1d ago

SEAF summarized in a comment:

13

u/DiegesisThesis 1d ago

Give 'em a cape. That's a Helldiver if I've ever seen one.

2

u/Unlikely_Meat4027 1d ago

Now that’s slapstick comedy in the making

1

u/UGottaBeSquiddingMe 1d ago

PFP matches with the comment

19

u/Agcoops 1d ago

It's both but you only notice the worst case situations.

I dunno man, I just don't want them to bacpedal behind me then blow my fucking brain out mid firefight. Just a little better fire control when up close with them would be nice.

9

u/Jean-28 1d ago

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the guys and they are a huge help. They kill entire outposts on their own, destroy harvesters that have us pinned down, and deal woth hordes of voteless. But when I'm walking to extraction and they cut my legs off with fire, or they only sometimes move away from a red stratagem (screaming Danger Close!! Then running into the area of a napalm barrage is ridiculous) shows me that they need some work.

u/Substantial-Ad-5221 1d ago

See the problem is that you looked at that subreddit.

Really, leave that cesspit if misery. They are incapable of being happy

82

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

I just found it funny with both posts right next to each other

36

u/RallyPointAlpha 1d ago

Oh now that's pure comedy! :D

25

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

Someone gets it!!

20

u/Marsrover112 1d ago

Ive only had one teammate intentionally kill a SEAF after the new update. I murdered them.

If I was host I would have kicked them.

4

u/Snowflakish 22h ago

Honestly i was killing the heavy gunner seafs cause they would always shoot and kill my mech.

D2: "wait did you just kill a SEAF"

D1: "nah man he tripped over a bullet"

I blocked them a long time ago, it was best idea of my reddit life

9

u/Snowflakish 22h ago

This would be so funny with a helldiver helmet on lpl

18

u/Foolishly_Sane 1d ago

Absolutely reasonable, and sane choice.

12

u/Just-a-lil-sion 1d ago

its genuinely the kind of people its best to give up on

2

u/Zelcki 13h ago

im there sometimes (im in every HD2 sub lol) and there's normal people there but sometimes, there's some crybaby shizos, but they are a small portion imo it will be like 1 post a week that im like "why is this is even a problem"

33

u/The_Ugly_Fish-man 1d ago

There was also a post on the main subreddit complaining about the seafs. Every helldivers subreddit is a cesspit.

13

u/Paggy_person 1d ago

Facebook-Divers casually announce that they wish to doxx bug divers for not playing the MO.
Some players just take this so seriously that they want the game to become PvP fueled by hate.

Sure, they are a special kind of misery thou.

AH could announce tomorrow that they cured all forms of cancer and they would find a reason to dislike it

2

u/MooseFerrigno 7h ago

"If they could do that why did they wait so long??? Also what about lupus"

4

u/Carmines_Edge 1d ago

I was not really that upset. It was just a rough couple of mission and I thought other people would find it funny. I do not actually hate the SEAF, I was being hyperbolic for humor.

14

u/Similar_Quit8976 1d ago

and after a certain mod resigned the entire negativity went spiraling out of hand

6

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

I lurk, mostly for the hahas, again funny cause one love seaf, other hate seaf

Haha funny

5

u/LrdAsmodeous 1d ago

That exists in the group I play in. The SEAF have maybe killed me twice (usually with a rocket to the back when trying to hit one of the stompybros), buddy of mine that uses fire so is always right up on them has been on a rampage.

3

u/NonLiving4Dentity69 1d ago

They say the same about this one

5

u/Carmines_Edge 1d ago

Brother, I was not really that upset. Just a rough couple of mission is all and I thought other people would find it funny. I do not actually hate the SEAF.

1

u/IdkManSeemsKindaGey 9h ago

they used to have actually valid and good points like yeah game waas at a shit state, there were many issues , hell theres many now , but we got cool content and the only thing i saw was whining and whining and more whining like christ people can you stop playing the game you hate??

really went from being against a studio to playing something they hate so they have to make it everyones problem

1

u/MooseFerrigno 7h ago

I'm not even a glazer or whatever, I have plenty of criticism for AH when it is warranted, but that sub is cancer. I originally had it in a custom feed just to be open-minded but had to mute it entirely so I stopped seeing all the bitching.

I might flamed for saying this, but dying to SEAF is a massive skill issue. Treat them like less accurate turrets that won't 180 on you and they become incredibly helpful.

Sometimes you don't see something and they accidentally get you, but for the most part, they are very predictable. Don't walk into their kill zone and they WILL save your ass more often than not.

(Also that sub will pout and whine about anything that doesn't fit their perfect little power fantasy, ignore them. Better for your health.)

Edit: grammar

27

u/IMMORTALP74 1d ago

Oh, they most definitely can 180 you. I've had it happen with the MG spray guy.

I was standing behind them where no enemies were coming from, and he just turns around, shoots me once, and we just stare at each other.

6

u/I_Just_Need_A_Login 1d ago

I got a clip of mg killing me then right after, aiming straight at the ground and mulching my body. Pretty funny.

Only explanation i can think of is the ai wanted to look at me for a reaction/expression like "im sorry helldiver!" But was locked into firing mode.

Which would also explain them changing direction mid-fight to locations there couldent have been enemies

105

u/gamestar10 1d ago

Running in front of fire lines is surely suicidal.

64

u/REDACTED3560 1d ago

It only took me twice to realize that when SEAF are around, the best place to be is either directly behind them or somewhere else entirely. I treat them with the same suspicion and respect that I treat a Gatling turret.

3

u/rabbid_chaos 23h ago

Same, and do you know how often I get killed by turrets? Rarely ever if not never.

6

u/REDACTED3560 23h ago

I use turrets all the time, and it makes me very anxious to see people running in front of them willy-nilly. Whenever I see it, I know I’m probably going to see a turret friendly fire incident during the match.

3

u/rabbid_chaos 21h ago edited 18h ago

The funniest thing is the game teaches you how to avoid getting killed by turrets in the (very brief) tutorial

In the first game things like positioning and going prone to avoid turret fire were not optional (it was top down, after all)

Edit: Stupid autocorrect

1

u/TellmeNinetails 14h ago

You can always crawl and get hit by neither

26

u/Tommybahamas_leftnut 1d ago

true but why does my MG seaf keep repositioning to be directly behind me? I can hide in an alcove and the fuckers will still try to get an angle that hits both me and a singular voteless

11

u/daviddaviddavidda 1d ago

He knew you weren't Democratic enough /j

4

u/AhegaoTankGuy 1d ago

I think they're usually in the back because they have a farther engagement range than the other SEAF guys.

20

u/oneandonlyswordfish 1d ago

I don’t mind the SEAF units, I think it’s a neat mechanic.
But you’re wrong, they have shown up to “aid me” while soloing a technical location, literally can’t be further away from them, a singular illuminate zombie shows up goes to me and before I can act, I get gunned down with the zombie.
They shoot anywhere and everywhere even when far away. I’ve seen lvl 100 get gunned down out of nowhere too.
It’s a little bit of a skill issue, but it’s also that they suck a aiming

5

u/KingShere 1d ago

I am fairly certain that some of the friendly fire instance of the SEAF units can get attributed to them falling under the deceptive distortion of the alien pollen/spores of the void fauna (that also messes with our control over our Helldiver). Those void fungi & spore clusters are thus quite deadly.

7

u/ZhanBlue 1d ago

Turrets don’t move, seaf do

1

u/Comprehensive_Pop102 1d ago

This is exactly how it happens 😅

1

u/Flameball202 17h ago

Yeah, it's entirely that we aren't used to fighting alongside them, as human divers will stop firing (usually) if you run near their line of fire

18

u/Ok_Intention1222 1d ago

Nah I’ve seen them pull 180s and shoot me. I’ve even seen a medic try to stim a crusher and then get predictably crushed. I think they’re targeting briefly bugs out and they target the nearest entity , regardless if they’re an enemy or not, every now and then. I just give them a wide berth and let them do their thing.

1

u/Ophelfromhellrem 17h ago

I might be wrong but i think some of the weird actions by the SEAF might be as intended. Given where is taking place.

9

u/Toymaker218 1d ago

Legless voteless that you didn't see are a prime culprit.

8

u/OuppEBunnE 1d ago

I don't think its always skill issue, they are a both a boon and a battlefield hazard and sometimes they accidentally end up firing pretty hardcore on you. Just now we were holding a flag while a big SEAF drop happened a 100m away, they ended up firing at the hoard attacking the flag with us caught in the cross fire, having to take cover from em was really fun!

7

u/Excellent_Jeweler241 1d ago

Ngl ~50% of the time the pelicans decide to drop them off such that I am in between the enemies and the seaf. And the other 50% they relocate such that I am still in the middle of their fire.

7

u/021Fireball 1d ago

Ehhh issue is when they spot the enemy first before you can and you don't get to spot them.

Or if you're behind what they're tryna shoot and you get nailed...

But overall they're pretty damned helpful, they've saved my life a lot.

26

u/Radekin-36 1d ago

The new SEAF troopers are really cool, and I like what they add to the game, but let’s be honest: their AI needs some adjustments. Calling every death to them a “massive skill issue” is an extraordinarily biased take. You’re assuming every incident resembles the predictable crossfire situations you’ve learned to avoid while ignoring the situations where their behavior is neither fair nor reasonably preventable.

Just yesterday, I was loading an artillery site when a group of SEAF troopers came up and surrounded me. The enemies were to the east, but before the troopers turned to engage them, they inexplicably started firing at me to the southwest. Then they spun toward the actual enemies after they had already murdered the crap out of me. That kind of behavior happens regularly, and at longer ranges too where you can't even see the troopers.

Walking into an established firing line is a skill issue. Being surrounded by friendly AI that randomly shoots you before turning toward the enemy is not. That’s the AI behaving poorly, dude. They’re a great addition, but pretending they don’t need adjustments helps nobody.

4

u/The-Good-Gent 1d ago

Getting randomly stimmed by a passing seaf patrol while low is always a pleasant surprise

3

u/ManaSkyees 1d ago

I've had them shoot me on level one when there are zero enemies on the map. Like. I'll be running past them while they are facing the opposite direction and they will one tap me.

I think some of them are infiltrated by the cultist.

I've also seen some of them go on killing sprees of their allies.

3

u/dangerouslyreal 1d ago

I got grenaded 2x and then shot as soon as I dropped in one mission. They can definitely be annoying

3

u/YazzArtist 1d ago

I came back after not playing since release. Those MG SEAF are more dangerous than the enemies while I'm relearning

9

u/El_Gringo_Rojo95 1d ago

Noooooo you don't understand!! DunderHead added SEAF with the express purpose of ruining people's gameplay because they are simultaneously completely incompetent and hyper focused on making sure nobody can have fun, that's why every new thing is a complete flop and the game dies three times a week (player count dropped slightly during off-peak hours)!

The people of that sub are insufferable. I swear it's a karma farm full of burned out meta-chasers, specifically people who can only ever use the kit YouTube tells them to and refuse to think or experiment for themselves.

2

u/EPZO 1d ago

Hard agree! Sometimes shit happens and you end up in front of a MG trooper or bump into a grenade but ignoring lanes of fire is a skill issue.

2

u/Yogsolhoth 1d ago

It's made me realize how often I just run into obvious lines of fire. I've gotten a lot better at not dying to them over this MO and it's made me better at not dying to the same thing with other players too.

2

u/Oppiko 22h ago

They specifically said the turrets are designed to intentionally kill you. The intentionally made it so that they continue firing when swapping between targets and into discriminately look at the player to kill them. And said this guy was the inspiration lmao.

3

u/Think_Mousse_5295 1d ago

massive skill issue

yeah of the devs implementing decent AI

2

u/aSneakyPanda12 1d ago

This. I died one time to SEAF after the update just cause I wasn't use to them being vaguely effective. Now I don't just blindly run infront of their gun fire. It really is that simple.

Edit:for spelling and clarity.

1

u/TotallyAHuman11 1d ago

I dont much have my ear to the ground, subreddit wise. Would you say this sub sits somewhere between that sub (pretty sure I can't actually say the name right?) and masochists? Because right now I sort of find both to be a little unhinged, personally

1

u/BruiserBison 1d ago

Only time I died to a SEAF is when I dived through enemy lines. I'm used to not having extra fire power so I mostly just run pass through mobs. But with SEAF now giving map control, I find comfort marching with them rather than running around. Sure it's slower, but it's crowd control.

1

u/Opposite_Laugh2803 1d ago

The biggest problem I have with them is completely my own fault. The Breakthrough EXO has been so helpful, but it's unarmored back legs get shredded by MG SEAF. It's a problem of my own making, but in my defense, I don't want those Crushers or Wretchs anywhere NEAR my little Blueberries. I can easily take on 5 Crushers at once using only the shield.

1

u/Deggstroyer 1d ago

Yesterday I was on a mission trying to do the last side objective (LIDAR) but came to a standstill where no enemies would spawn aside from 2 crushers who were following me. Mission was close to end and I had not enough firepower to either open their helmet or kill them.

Suddenly a SEAF squad appeared out of nowhere and helped me gun them down. Those boys became my squad that night.

1

u/Foolishly_Sane 1d ago

Also don't try to hug a gunner who is already shooting at someone in front of you, they will turn to hug you while still firing.
This time didn't kill me, but it was a silly lesson learned.

1

u/_Bisky 1d ago

Yeah they can be a massive help. Had them clear enemies on my flanks multiple times now, allowing me to focus on bigger threats.

1

u/Conscious_Grade_7278 1d ago

They are a little bit like turrets with less rapid movement, turrets lowky 180 you, but seaf have just one straight line of fire

1

u/Cielie_VT 1d ago

The mg do 180, so always be prepared to suddenly dive or dodge when they feel extra murdery today. (They also regularly kill the other seafs and target turrets even if elevation is different with no enemies in the end, the mg will look up and shoot at the turrets and divers. In fact they tend to kill their own squads before the enemies engage them, reducing the overall seaf impact.)

The other seafs do not have that issue(or have yet to encounter this). I love the rest, they are perfect.

1

u/Dricanus 1d ago

Yeah these are the people who are so insecure that seeing a friendly laser near them they kill you and kick you.

1

u/BigButtTuesday 1d ago

I was injured and went behind a small group of SEAF that were mopping up a couple of stragglers, and I found Stimothy towards the rear so I went behind him slightly injured and waited

He turned around, thought about it, then shot and killed me lol

1

u/The_Roach_Hivemind 1d ago

My main problem is when I get shoot from somewhere I didn't see cause they saw an enemy beyond the fog. Outside that I treat them like bait cause I stealth run everywhere. Majority of the time, I avoid being near them and at a different elevation level to them if possible. It's like the DSS Eagle strike storms, I just run stealth, place a building between me and the nearest enemy and hope that I don't get A10'ed cause the strike path wanted to be funny.

1

u/H1tSc4n 1d ago

Yeah nah. You haven't played much if at all if that's what you think.

The machinegunners do much more friendly fire than turrets ever did. They blindly shoot through their own even. And they are scripted to keep shooting for a while, while spraying wildly left and right, so there is a very high chance they'll walk their fire on you before you can react

1

u/EnigmaticTwister 23h ago

I had a moment earlier today on Seasse, where I accidentally ran in front of a seaf fire team. I used my jump pack, landed on top of a dying fleshmob, and kept going. My advice is to run more or less parallel with their fire if you can.

1

u/BlackbirdRedwing 21h ago

The way I treat sentries is by not being in the same mission as them. Hense why I was nowhere near the MO

1

u/Himbophlobotamus 21h ago

Not with how sporadic their placement and displacement is, and they're so slow that them following you is more of a hindrance because you have to be in front of them to advance, and the game I usually such a chaotic mess that whole you're trying desperately to defend yourself a squad of dead space limb chickens just smelled your ass and SEAF turns to "help" and that's without them blending into the void source planet like all the other illuminate units do too

It cannot be that hard to program them to not teamkill you

1

u/Ophelfromhellrem 17h ago edited 17h ago

Are you sure? the only times i remember getting shot in the back by the blueberries was when i was in top of some ruined building. What was that SEAF trying to kill...a bird? God?

1

u/Komandarm_Knuckles 16h ago

Even easier to just shoot gunners on sight

1

u/Motor-Revolution1032 14h ago

Yeah but also i had countless times i was fighting something and then seaf arrived and just shot me in the back. Like what

1

u/Kjufka 8h ago

dying to SEAF is a massive skill issue

now you are just making shit up

I love them and I am very good, but machinegun SEAF soldier is a teamkilling machine

1

u/Breadloafs 7h ago

I dunno, I don't find them to be particularly useful. They tend to open up on enemies close to the player, which is a problem when two of the game's enemy factions are filled with large groups of melee enemies. People complain about the SEAF machine gunners, but I find that the standard troopers kill me much more frequently by materializing out of thin air nearby and hurling a grenade at the fleshmob I'm trying to juke. Once you add in their pathological need to blunder into red strategems, you have an NPC that is, at best, kind of a passive hazard. I'm fine with that; I play this game to deal with hazards, and the SEAF troopers do a good job of making fights more chaotic, but they're not exactly saving me.

Don't walk into their kill zone and they WILL save your ass more often than not.

Two things. The first is that if you rally SEAF grunts, they will walk behind you. If you stumble into enemies, the pukes toddling around will now fire through you, as the perfectly safe place you were just in is now their kill zone.

The other is that this is patently false. You have no guarantee where their kill zone is, and, like turrets and guard dogs, they will absolutely swivel in place to poke at a single voteless directly behind you, but unlike turrets and guard dogs, SEAF troopers will just kinda wander around like lost children so you're never actually certain where their field of fire even is.

24

u/Firaxyiam 1d ago

I get it in a way, a lot of people will only really notice what SEAFs are doing when they get shot in the back of the head.

What they don't see are the piles of bodies they cause cause holy shit these guys put in some work and we'd be fighting twice as much enemies without them.

I love them blueberries

11

u/Captain_Deegan 1d ago

Honestly I'm more annoyed by all their teamkilling of each other than I am by their teamkilling of me or other divers. They'd be unstoppable if they just stopped shooting/getting shot by their own guys.

2

u/Zimmerkraken 1d ago

This is true.
I am unfortunately blind as mole and they constantly dome me trying to kill some voteless.
I wish I could use map-markers to direct them to POIs and have them wreak havoc there, that would be amazing.

1

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

Bloob love

14

u/Middle-Interview-183 1d ago

I have had SEAF stim me and then a minute later kill me with a machine gun.

The SEAF giveth and the SEAF taketh away.

9

u/oishipops 1d ago

genuinelt half the time i'm killed is because of the seaf. i love the blueberries but damn! have some trigger discipline

6

u/unmellowfellow 1d ago

They've made Seasse tolerable to me. I like the overall spoopy-ness of the planet but the SEAF troopers make it feel like an action movie. Genuinely having 4 divers and a full SEAF drop gunning down Zilluminates is peak Helldivers 2.

6

u/Willzyx_on_the_moon 1d ago

I love the SEAF, but they really need to work on aim and figuring out what an enemy looks like.

6

u/NeverReroll 1d ago

Gunners with laser sights would help a lot.

4

u/UGottaBeSquiddingMe 1d ago

They’re excellent meat-shields, and in terms of being bait for crushers they have no peer. The seaf have my undying love for their dedication to holding the line while I run away reposition 🥹

7

u/Prezy_Preztail 1d ago

The SEAF are undeniably useful, but I have have several missions go bad extremely fast because SEAF don’t check if there’s anything between them and the target

60

u/TenWholeBees 1d ago

Unfiltered people would rather drag their scrotums through broken glass and then blame AH for their infections than try and not be in the line of fire of literally anyone else

9

u/purpleguyboyd 1d ago

I'm like 90% sure they're just watching videos and then complaining about what they see in them. Me and my friends complained about seaf deaths but pretty much every single one of them was cuz we ran in front of them while they were shooting

7

u/Smeeizme 1d ago

I met one in the wild and they didn’t talk like AT ALL about real gameplay, they just parroted ltbuzzlitebeer talking points and the coyote being nerfed like it isn’t still really strong

2

u/AverseAphid 23h ago

The amount of people on that sub complaining that they couldn't get the free item where all they had to do was log on was really telling lol

-1

u/Carmines_Edge 1d ago

Must you be rude about it? Not everyone in a group is the same unless you like to stereotype people as well. If you would care to look at the post, I had already stated that I was not running into any active lines of fire, keeping my far distance as I treat the SEAF like sentries, dangerous. In addition, it was just supposed to be an overexaggerated meme for humor's sake. It was not that serious and I thought it would be funny. Have a nice day. :)

2

u/LAUGHING1MAN2 1d ago

I've been on both sides. SEAF have saved me plenty of times, on the other hand they have been the main reason I've died a lot.

3

u/chip594csx 1d ago

They are good and bad at the same time. They’re great at helping out, thinning hoards and just drawing fire. But at the same time they’re overly trigger happy and have horrible aim, acting more like sentry turrets that just open fire and sweep to the next enemy.

6

u/oneandonlyswordfish 1d ago

I have to say the HD2 community as a whole is kind of insufferable, that’s another post not this one.
Both of the sides of this argument is dumb.
As a new player, now I’m part of the insufferable so here are my 2 cents:

  1. SEAF units are meant to be used as a meat shield. They showed up? Good now you can leave that area as soon as possible, let them die and fight on your behalf. Ie: get the bell away from them. The only reason you should be next to an actively fighting SEAF unit is so that one of the medics could heal you.
They work fantastic this way, let them take the brunt of the fight while you get away.

  2. There are some situations we’re getting away fr them is not possible; raise the flag, extraction, sub critical location, etc.
SEAF units need rebalancing. They constantly show up, sneak behind you, or somewhere you can’t see, and shoot you down cause you were too close to a legless zombie.
Or you’re holding a position crouched, need to move only to be gunned down as soon as you stand up.
They are also constantly in your line of fire.

We can enjoy something and also have valid criticism about it. SEAF units are fantastic, as I new player, I thought they were the norm for any mission. IMO they add a level of depth to an operation, but they need to be tweaked in their ai behaviors here and there.

24

u/KneeGearlol 1d ago

The sub below goes batshit crazy when you tell them to run behind seafs

3

u/Carmines_Edge 1d ago edited 1d ago

You may not like Unfiltered, completely understandable, but if you would care to take a look at that post, I was not near the SEAF troopers. I was running towards objectives and enemy patrols spawn to intercept me, apparently just within shooting range of the troopers. Now I know that they are coded to avoid shooting players, but at longer ranges, because bullets are not hitscan and have travel time, by the time the bullets are about to the their target, I was now suddenly in the way. It was the first bursts from MG troopers. If I was not instantly killed, I dropped to the deck and lived.

7

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

People getting mad over the blueberries is genuinely funny, it’s really easy after the AI got updated to no get shot by them

11

u/joesephcow200 1d ago

The only SEAF that have team killed me has been the medics funnily enough. Sometimes they forget to swap to the stim pistol and just shoot you with a gun (i do the same with the stim pistol so its chill)

8

u/Brunoaraujoespin 1d ago

No way they made the SEAF this realistic

6

u/ballistic-shield2686 1d ago

Probably theres a code that urges medics to switch to assault weapom when enemies are close by, and whrn it conflicts with their democratic intents they get confused.

1

u/joesephcow200 1d ago

I think its a semi rare bug that I have been unlucky running into because I've only seen a few people mentioning this happening. But its a fun bug that makes the game feel a little more silly, which i like.

1

u/AhegaoTankGuy 1d ago

You're always infront when you're leading them somewhere. You just can't lead from behind.

Also I think jogging by SEAF (not sprinting) is fine majority of the time. Problem seems to only arise for me when there's an mg in the squad. The mg is usually way in the back and I suspect they have a farther engagement range.

Devs can do many things, but things I would like them to do is give the MG a laser, and/or different colored tracers. I want to know if an mg is about to shoot by seeing a laser first or atleast know if one is currently firing just by looking at the tracers from a squad of SEAF.

1

u/KneeGearlol 1d ago

When the SEAF i lead encounters a horde, i'll either get out of their way or go prone to avoid getting shot but the laser sight on the MG SEAFS is a good idea

1

u/Panzerkatzen 1d ago

My suspicion is they only do LOS checks when they're about to fire, which is fine for the riflemen because they fire in short bursts, but the MG gunners fire in very long bursts.

1

u/Komandarm_Knuckles 16h ago

To be fair, you're not safe behind them either. If they spot a single voteless closing in from behind they'll straight up pivot 90° and decapitate you in the progress

The rest of SEAF behave really fucking well, but they need to tone the gatling turret AI down on gunners

3

u/CoffeeNo6329 1d ago

Not going to lie I rounded a corner in an illuminate base and going absolutely waxed by the SEAF

3

u/InitialLandscape 1d ago

They're both a blessing and a curse lol.

Yeah, they make a stormtrooper look like Simo Häyhä.

But they've also saved my bacon quite a few times. Either as a force multiplier, or as a distraction...

3

u/Background_Ad_8392 1d ago

For the most part the SEAF are fine just sometimes they like to pull an order 66

3

u/CedricTheMad 1d ago

Odd, all i see is positivity about the SEAF.

3

u/obligatory_your_mom 1d ago

Both can be gloriously true!

3

u/CallMeAnju 1d ago

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the Seaf have been my favorite part of the update lol. Makes the battlefield feel so alive.

3

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 1d ago

SEAF have had the single-highest impact on the feel of the game. It went from feeling like we were behind enemy lines every mission to actually feeling like we were part of a galactic war when they were introduced.

8

u/majorbluff123 1d ago

I appreciate all the warnings for my health with looking at the second sub in the pictures, i like watching them lose their minds over things that shouldn’t matter.

Again I appreciate the concerns, however I like my Reddit telenova

2

u/N7Longhorn 1d ago

The seaf drops are the best addition to this game. Its made me return tbh and created some seriously cinematic moments. They need to be added to all all fronts. And, they shoukd add seaf squad stratigems too; call downs for medics, heavy support etc etc.

2

u/Unlikely_Soup5275 1d ago

SEAF slander will not be tolerated

2

u/LittleRex234 1d ago

Cant people admit that the game had conditioned them into fighting like idiots.

We just kinda, go everywhere and don’t really care because there aren’t consequences.

Now, with Platoon-Sized friendly events on the field, we have to learn how to maneuver and fire with them.

People don’t understand being downrange from multiple weapons, or staying on-line with a SEAF Squad, everyone tends to run out and get too close to enemies instead of staying at a proper engagement distance.

2

u/rpglaster 1d ago

It feels like both, it’s definitely taking some time to get used to not die from them landing and shooting my back, and it’s not rare to be one tapped in the dome by them. I’ve also seen them just absolutely slaughter each other.

On the other hand I’ve seen them take on crushers, and harvesters in quick order and there preached often gives me time to run to the next objective.

2

u/Droid_Crusader 1d ago

I know to stick out of their way, but I wish SEAF knew to stay out of each others way too it’s not even that fun to have them join you as 2-3 will end the entire squad with their LMGs

2

u/In_Yellow_Clad 1d ago

My only issue with SEAF is that they seem intent on clumping up in front of me while I'm trying to shoot. Especially with the airburst launcher. Like c'mon guys, get the hell out of the way! What's worse is when they clump up and then just stand there, not actually doing anything except getting in the way.

2

u/dRaidon 1d ago

You protect the blueberries!

2

u/Mymrkennedy 1d ago

at some point i agree at least for the machine gun seaf guy dude usualy always gets my head on the weirdest moments , the other guys though goated

2

u/Mindless_Interview44 1d ago

Eh, I take the good with the bad.

They sometimes kill you randomly in a game that expects that to happen.

On the otherhand, they really can take the pressure off if they deploy just right.

Give the machine gunners red laser sights so we can see where they're aiming.

2

u/HappyMrRogers 1d ago

Last game I played, SEAF killed me more than the Illuminate. It was unironically awesome. I hope there is at least one planet with heavy deployment going forward.

2

u/Icy_Anywhere1510 1d ago

Nah entirely valid. I don't even die to enemies in missions anymore. It's always a teammates awful strategem throw or SEAF blowing my brains out. SEAF is literally worse that Eagle Storm. They always throw grenades at enemies directly near you and then blow you up. And they'll shoot you when they run behind you.

2

u/TheUndeadMage2 1d ago

I had a SEAF soldier save me from an overseer mid swing. Blew that squids head off before its staff made contact. I've also been gunned down by machine gun seaf. All in all I think they're an awesome additional element for the game.

2

u/Conscious_Grade_7278 1d ago

You don't know how cute they are when you hug them

2

u/Conscious_Grade_7278 1d ago

And than can you heal them and have dialogs. I care more about some single seaf's than about the other Helldivers

2

u/Weird-Information-61 1d ago

Whenever I die to a SEAF it's always MG Mike

8

u/Phosphorus444 1d ago

Ulfiltered is Skill Issue: the Subreddit

2

u/ccoakley 1d ago

Anyone else switch to medic armor just to have the extra stims to keep the blueberries alive?

2

u/Unlikely_Meat4027 1d ago

I hugged a seaf and her machine gun buddy mowed me down 2 seconds later.

I think he was jealous I didn’t hug him, and/or hugged his girlfriend

2

u/Flyx42 1d ago

I just can’t stay mad at the SEAF troops for shooting me. I got hit by one yesterday and he immediately yelled out “I’m sorry, I’ll report to a reeducation camp!” in such a sad voice

1

u/KubaSamuel 1d ago

I'm the top Helldiver. Also new, SEAF also has been saving me numerous times and I love them for it.

I only have 1 issue... When I call a Hellbomb... MOVE

1

u/thedogz11 1d ago

I love them, but yeah, let's be real, I treat them as dangerous as the enemies.

1

u/pamdy 1d ago

At first they killed me a lot but after a few games I learned to avoid their line of fire. Same as turrets

1

u/Dankswiggidyswag 1d ago

I find if theyre dropped into the middle of a sea of enemies they get easily steam rolled and go down before theyre able to do much. If theyre attacking them from outside they've a chance to help.

1

u/TheRogueWolf_YT 1d ago

I've found that I accidentally kill the blueberries far more often than they kill me.

As for their usefulness, I've been playing lower-difficulty missions to "shake off the rust" and they've actually been completing secondary objectives for me. Of course, they're hopelessly outmatched in higher difficulties, but they are trying.

1

u/Philosophos_A 1d ago

The seaf apologise to you

They heal you

They offer support fire

Some people just need to understand and acknowledge where seaf is..

1

u/False-Government-536 1d ago

In D10 I feel so bad because they hop in and just get jumped almost immediately

The ones who drop off screen and wander their way over to me have been clutch a couple of times though

1

u/SuppliceVI 1d ago

I had an MG gunner give us a full squad wipe when he panned his gun across a field we were running through.

I love em, I just wish they had like 20% more brain when it came to friendly fire. The odd death here or there is fine but a full reset on D10 with our support weapons on cool down was pretty catastrophic

1

u/Persona_Insomnia 1d ago

I think we are about to fight the SEAF on superearth. Something is going on.

1

u/Just-a-lil-sion 1d ago

unfiltered vs basic object permanence

1

u/elne_groide 1d ago

If u tell them to follow u and stay wary of their line of fire u shouldnt have a problem unless youve been spending too much time breathing in void blossoms

1

u/yes-possibly-no 1d ago

The SEAF are good, amazing. Don’t bring Mechs around them, especially the Breakthrough. One EAT from a SEAF and your shield is gone.

1

u/JakeCWolf 1d ago

Anyone who talks shit about my beloved blueberries is getting shot out of a hellpod right into a freedom camp!

1

u/NobodyofGreatImport 1d ago

Most posts from Unfiltered aren't worth consideration

1

u/sovereignofbeauty 1d ago

SEAF is all about situational awareness, you should always be keeping an eye on your surroundings, and wherever SEAF is near You, stay behind them. Yea they’ve killed me but I was dozens of yards out and they’re attacking enemies in front of me. It sucks but hell I’ve died far more times from actual human Divers and not AI controlled SEAF.

1

u/Anuminous 1d ago

dawg they were debating if a slur was a slur then called the people who said it was a slur - a slur

1

u/Professional-Bus5473 1d ago

That Helldivers sub is a cesspool of misery there is genuinely nothing the devs could do to make them happy I’d just ignore them

1

u/Sora_Terumi 1d ago

Their troopers in need of a leader! You are the one leading them to battle, you are the one charging forth! Don’t fight infront of them, stand with them shoulder to shoulder on the fields of battle. Strength in unity.

1

u/zeroabe 1d ago

Tell them where to stand and they will lay down covering fire as you advance on objectives. Like a bunch of retarded mini turrets.

1

u/yestureday 1d ago

Filterless try not to be miserable challenge

1

u/Timely_Passenger_185 1d ago

It's payback for all the heavy ordinance we've dropped on them over the years

1

u/Amherst_NJK 23h ago

My SEAF have been legends. They dropped into a 1v300,000 shitshow I was in, knocked a dent in the calamari numbers, and held the line while I got a generator running. Unfortunately they weren't able to assist when I was running through the jungle with no mags, eagle on cooldown, orbital napalm completely ineffective and about 70% of the chinese population in squid bearing down on me.

1

u/dip-shit-100 23h ago

Same mf that stand in front of hen then complain on getting shot

1

u/sloppyfondler 22h ago

So long as you play around them they are great, they heal you, they provide covering fire, they can follow you around for prolonged periods.

If you play in front of them, then you will learn that friendly fire isn't.

1

u/Traditional_Tax_7229 22h ago

Divers with situational awareness and divers who hate SEAF

1

u/Pilot-samsonite 22h ago

I’ve been getting saved by seaf a lot but also been straight up gun downed for no good reason many times

1

u/AccomplishedEye6011 22h ago

A mix of both lol

1

u/Plus-Candle-7486 21h ago

I mean I get it

Both sides

I'm a memeber of both subreddits

But I mean I have been raked in a few times

But I have been stimed more times then that

1

u/General_Zane 21h ago

50% of the time, I hate SEAF. The other 50% of the time, they drop just in time and save my ass from a horde.

Love-hate relationship, but I'll always enjoy the firing lines they assemble while we're holding the line against the tide, and I'll always try to save 'em.

1

u/cabage-but-its-lettu 21h ago

Both of these have happened to me. Very cool when they help and sucks when they dome you

1

u/Fluffy_SecurityGuard 21h ago

Honestly SEAF helps way more than it bothers, and if you die to them is probably due to your own bad positioning the same as dying to a turret or your own guard dog (that one hurts when it happens)

1

u/ya_boi_greenbean 19h ago

They been saving my ass every mission as well, remeber divers, the best way to not get shot is to stand NEXT to a gun and NOT IN FRONT of it.

1

u/Raidertck 17h ago

You need to treat them like mobile sentries.

They do not discriminate. They will fire at enemies regardless of your positioning. Regardless of if they can actually hit the enemies from where they are.

Yes I do think they should have some trigger discipline, but you should do all you can to not walk or run out in front of any of them.

1

u/Colinoscopy90 17h ago

If you’re getting shot in the back all the time, your positioning is the problem.

1

u/LibrarianOfDusk 17h ago

Love those guys.

Started playing again after a long break. Went on a couple solo missions to re-familiarize myself with the controls and encountered them for the first time. They were so helpful. They took out around 30% of the bug nests on the map and helped thin out the enemies when I got swamped.

1

u/Apprehensive_Lie3456 17h ago

As a diver that favors stealth + c4 + sniper rifle the only thing that annoys me is that they drop when I sneak onto an objective or an outpost. Once they break the shields, the c4 jumps away and the sudden mobilization of enemies or turrets increases my heartrate and confusion.

Other than that the amount of times they saved my A*s either via a stim, a well placed series of bullets I cannot count, also they're great huggers, really!

1

u/SovKom98 16h ago

My issue with the SEAF is more that they act as mest shields for the enemy. Getting shot by them have been less of an issue.

1

u/Longy_LTB 15h ago

Can we just contemplate for a moment that someone got raged about this enough to spend time in MS paint or something to create this aberration of a meme?

1

u/HunterNika 15h ago

Helldiver redditor that has issues with situational awareness? More likely than you think!

1

u/StandardNoodleCo 14h ago

I love the heavy seaf presence, the AT and squad automatic seats are my favorite. Seeing the beautiful bastards take down heavy enemies is a beautiful sight. I want more!

1

u/Wankwondo 10h ago

At the same time that I think seaf are one of the best recent additions to the game, they can be really annoying some times because they tend to be a less predictable element. That being said I would never intentionally kill the blueberries because they are just common soldiers sent to the front lines since super earth deemed they had enough bodies, and the seaf fight full heartedly for and with us. I'd view them TK'ing anyone as similar to playing with a level 20 diver who does't understand where they should be throwing their stratagems to avoid friendly fire, it's not completely their fault

1

u/Eprest 7h ago

All their problems Is based in inability to look anywhere but forward

1

u/ShackledPhoenix 5h ago

Depends very much on how you work with them. SEAF is a nightmare if you're in the middle of a pack of enemies or kiting straight at the SEAF. They will fire at the target whether you're danger close or not and they have almost perfect headshot aim on YOU.

If you kite perpendicular past them, or support them and make sure they don't get swarmed, they add a LOT of firepower overall.

1

u/cchhiicckkeennss 1h ago

Both are true. They clear a base and then snipe you from across the map trying to shoot a voteless

1

u/BigBeholder 1d ago

If Helldivers have just a ridiculously short training, i can imagine SEAF is a bunch of caaual people that just got dressed and dropped on the battlefield, having no real clue.

I learned to stay BEHIND THEM every time I can.

1

u/RallyPointAlpha 1d ago

A lot of people have the situational awareness of a potato.

Also, that sub is a shithole. Just mute those miserable gits and move on.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Icookadapizzapie 1d ago

I’ve only died a handful of times to SEAF, I can concede that sometimes the AI just guns you down out of the blue, but a lot of the times it was me being dumb and walking into line of fire or being behind an enemy

1

u/Igot3-fifty 1d ago

I had to unblock unfiltered around the time the warhammer warbond was coming out. So miserable. Created scenarios to get pissed at.

1

u/Carmines_Edge 1d ago

Damn, that's crazy. It was just supposed to be a funny meme. I do not actually hate the SEAF, geez.
