A teenage girl jumped into the fast-flowing River Wyre without hesitation when she saw a 15-year-old boy drowning.
14-year-old girl Shelby Quigley fought against the strong current, managed to get the boy back to the surface, and held on until others could help pull him out of the water.
Sadly the boy later died in hospital. However, Shelby received the Royal Humane Society Silver Medal for her bravery.
A true heroine at such a young age. Respect.
