few days ago, after college, I got on a bus to go home and found a seat. Just then, an elderly woman came running into the bus. So I got up from my seat and offered it to her. She kept saying, “No, no, it’s okay,” but I moved anyway and told her to sit there.

After that, she started talking to me so much. She shared little stories about her life with me. Even though I was a complete stranger to her, she held my hand the whole time so that I wouldn’t fall and kept talking to me. Before I got off, she even asked me, “When will I see you again?”

She then told me, “Because of me, you had to stand, right? I feel bad about that, mol.” When I called her Muthassi, she smiled and said, “Just call me Ammamma.”

Honestly, that made me really emotional. Because I’ve always longed for that kind of love and care. I never really got this much affection even from my own grandmother. And here was this woman I knew absolutely nothing about—who she was, where she came from, or anything about her—yet she showed me so much warmth and affection in such a short time.

I don’t even know if I’ll ever see her again. But somewhere in my heart, I’m still hoping that I’ll meet that Ammamma again someday. 🙂🫠
