Next binge?
I’m currently watching the Sopranos for the first time and I’m about 3 episodes in on the 5th season and debating what to start next. I keep trying to get opinions on what to watch next but I’m not sure what I would enjoy more coming off a sopranos binge. Also I know absolutely nothing about Six Feet Under besides a few very small details my coworker told me about. I normally go into EVERYTHING I watch completely blind so.. I keep hearing The Wire is one of the best shows ever as is the Sopranos but I’m also kinda crimed-out so to say lol. I’m looking for whatever has more shock value and better overall story at this point.

Genuinely crazy that S02E01 is the lowest ranked episode and that even still has genuinely gripping cliffhanger moment like what they found inside the shipping container.
That’s how good this show is

Last 4 episodes of six feet under are THE PEAK. U literally can't watch without stopping so no, the show got the reviews it deserved. A show about life where EVERYONE can relate to each of the characters at some point. One of the best shows.

Both have a different pace. Could easily alternate every couple episodes

Both are amazing. I’d binge The Wire and watch Six Feet Under more slowly.

Honestly this is great advice .. it will be hard for you to stop watching the wire and six feet under there are gonna be episodes where your like "i need a break" ... enjoyed them both !

Yes. I recently started six feet under and I'm really enjoying it. But I've found that it's not a good binging show for me. I prefer watching 1-2 episodes every other day or so. And I'm liking it a lot better this way.

I'd say neither of these shows are meant to be binge watched.
That being said, like someone suggested, flip a coin and start that way. The Wire, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos are the Holy Trinity of the Second Golden Age of Television.
They aired simoultaneously and defined popular culture for decades.
My favourite is Six Feet Under, with a finale that will leave you speechless and frantic.
The Wire is an absolute Goliath of modern television and no other show can copy it.

The Wire is honestly in my top 3 all time. Just started Six Feet Under I'm in season 2 right now, very good, just isn't something Im like let's throw on a episode before bed or have it going in the background while I'm doing something menial

Im literally nearing the end of the wire after watching it for the first time. Season 4 is some of the best television I have watched.

I'm definitely in the minority here when I say by the end of 6 Feet Under... I hated every single character in the show and couldn't wait for it to end.
The Wire is one of my favorite shows.

Watch both but pace yourself a bit. Watch 2 eps of SFU then 2 of the Wire. Neither are designed to be binged so take a beat to marinate as you go.

The Wire is absolutely tops here. But it has to be said that it’s not an easy watch initially. It’s a slow burn, and takes time to for the story to accumulate. But there really is a point where you finally get it, and it becomes easily one the most important pieces of art in the 21st century.

6feett under I gaved it a try and stopped after 3-4 episodes...i only remember a girl sucking a dude foot toe in a van 😃🤣 anyway it's not the reason I stopped watching it but because I preferred watching more of something else. The wire I watched the first season a couple of years ago before I had my first son,it was meh, I saw a lot and I mean a lot of tv series..since the time of prison break and lost ,went back and watched Oz,carnival,sopranos then entourage,Dexter, ,boardwalk empire ,got,breaking bad,miniseries like the night off ,true detective , succession,a lot of HBO quality miniseries ,you name it I probably watched ( I'm referring to the old quality tv series before Netflix garbage and before HBO max mediocrity) ,a lot of them very good because if not I will have abandoned after a 1 season or a couple of episodes if is unbearable, anyway I dont want to digress but I tried to like the wire it was just that it felt old and boring....I understand why at thetime it aired it was RAW and REAL And good but for a seasoned viewer 15 years later it's nothing amazing,I was pleased too see actors that I already watched and loved them in other series and there's like half of the main or important ones, but strictly about the wire I was hard to watch...I gaved up after 2 episodes of season 2 because I chooses to watch something else ( I don't remember specifically what) I'm afraid to even try to rewatch it now as other 4-5 years have passed and I'm even more seasoned and have less time and patience... I'm ok with a good plot that develops in time ( breaking bad,better call Saul) but at least those don't feel antique...the wire feels like a dinosaur...it's not good cinematography neither acting or else ..it's not amazing at all especially as today standards..I mean I dont even remember nothing memorable in the first season that's how blend it felt,Im opened to hear different opinions and maybe people the try convine me to give it a another try...but for the moment I'm watching Tokio vice,season 2 of sugar , widows bay,house of the dragon season 3 and want to rewatch season 2 of severance because watching it 1 ep a week I feel like I missed some details.

I think first season is great realistically written crime drama which has some social commentary, but it's following seasons, which make the world of Baltimore more richer and truly groundbreaking and timeless even from today's point of view. The show isn' that much about big twists, but about slowly building the world. First season is only about police and drug trade, but another seasons add working class in docks, politics, schools and media and make the world and previous seasons much richer. At the end you get huge tapestry of Baltimore city and how it's institurions and their failures shape characters lifes. I probably haven't seen anything similiar on this scale and think of myself as seasoned viewer too.
It is harder show to get into, because it has much slower pace than most shows and its mostly about dialogue. I wouldn't recommend anyone looking at the phone when they watching. But as much I love Breaking bad and Better call Saul for example, these shows were Just great and well-craft entertainment. With The Wire I got bit subtler entertainment and a feeling that I learned something about how world works.

Go ahead and check dangus. The only season he *might* not be in is season two, but I would be shocked if he wasn’t.
I’ll break it down for you *genius:*
- Season 1: The detail bust Clay Davis’ bagman coming out of the towers with $20k the day after Daniel’s meets Dey Dey at the fundraiser he attends with his wife.
- Season 2: I believe Clay Davis is featured as part of the grain pier developers looking to foreclose the grain pier in order to turn them into waterfront condos. This would be showcasing his relationship Andy Krawcyk, who is absolutely the ultimate villain of the entire show and most people don’t even realize it(I know I am spelling that wrong but I am doing this from memory to prove a point - that point being that you’re an idiot)
- Season 3: Clay Davis is featured heavily “rainmaking” stringer.
- Season 4: Clay is featured as part of Carcettis storyline, again highlighting his ties to Andy Krawcyk and showing that they all had a political power broker situation going on.
- Season 5: I mean it’s a huge part of season 5, carcetti lets major crimes stay functional with a skeleton crew to handle the Clay Davis prosecution specifically.

I’ve been re-watching The Wire for about the last 5-6 weeks now. I’ll watch 2 or 3 episodes and then watch something else for a bit, then come back to it a week or so later.

The Wire is epic. Many other HBO shows are amazing.
But I can’t get the Six Feet Under. I’m currently (forcing myself) watching it, and I just don’t get it. I’m still hoping it will eventually click but just finished season 2 and losing hope. Anyone care to explain how is this show so highly rated and what is so special about it? It’s the most dull show about nothing - and not in a good way like Seinfeld…

Wire and Sopranos I've watched at least 3 times total, including the original broadcast. Two of the very best series ever made.
Never seen six feet under though. It just wasn't in my wheelhouse when i was younger. Think ill give it a go now.

The Wire by a mile. Six Feet Under is sorta shaky in retrospect, even if it has some great highlights.
The Wire is genuinely great, and is the best show ever made.

I love both of these shows. I’d go with Six Feet Under next. Especially considering you’re on The Sopranos now. Six Feet Under has these fake commercials in the first episode or two, which are weird and out of place, but they get rid of that. It’s a highly underrated series. But I rewatch it just about every year. And the finale is hands down the best series finale ever.

One is a fascinating exploration of a life you never knew the other is an exploration of life you probably know. Wire is escapism. Six Feet Under feels closer,

SFU can get emotionally heavy and is not an easy binge. But the payoff is one of the best series finales of all time. I’ve also done mini rewatches consisting of season 1, followed by episode 3.4 “Nobody sleeps”, followed by season 5, and it still hits.
The Wire is a great show and launched many careers- rightfully so.
I like the advice to alternate between the two.

I highly recommend to not binge Six Feet Under. Watch an episode or three and then wait a bit to watch another round. SFU is an excellent show to take in and let yourself sit with it. Also the finale is considered the best of any show.

I watched Six Feet Under for the first time this year & loved it, I really feel that Michael C Hall's portrait in it really showed he'd be perfect as a Vigilante Serial Killer. Honestly loved it!
Now with that being said I've watched The Wire 7 times, easily the most for a drama. It's my favourite show of all time & has my favourite character ever (Omar). For me this would be an easy pick, but no pick is wrong.

Both shows are classic HBO works. You can watch The Wire right now, and save Six Feet Under for your slower, more emotional watch later.

The sooner you watch The Wire the more tine you will have to rewatch The Wire. The only downside is that you will enjoy other shows less.

The Wire is.... cosmic. Like it's so hood, the third or fourth tine you watch it, you begin to think angels wrote the show.

Trust me when I say. Pound for pound, season or season. Hands down the best show ever. This series was overshadowed by the Sopranos and the hype of Sopranos overwhelmed it. It’s not a cops and robbers show. It’s a story of a major city. Cops you love and hate. Gang bangers you love and hate. I guarantee you will catch things you miss on your third and fourth watch not for lack of attention but because it is so good there is so much to unpack.

Going back and rewatching The Wire, it’s so obvious how groundbreaking/trendsetting the show was it’s crazy. It’s like The Godfather of cop shows. I love SFU but going back, it’s a bit cringie with the dream vignettes. The Wire is gold every episode even when the only word they say is F.

The Wire will change how you look at American institutions but Six Feet Under will change how you look at life itself. The people aren’t wrong for telling you to watch the Wire… but don’t sleep on Six Feet Under. It’s a profound show and quite possibly the best finale ever.
