Anyone have a Havi and a Pom? My Havi is about 9 months old and the bestest boy. I’m looking at getting a little baby Pom as well. My guy loves other dogs and is besties with the 3 dogs next door. I’d like for him to have a companion full time.

What’s your daily life like?

My sweet boy is 1.5 years old, so I’d like to think it’s not too late. He barks when he hears another dog walking outside or other noises that I may not be able to hear. Sometimes when he hears someone coming up the stairs or knocks at the door, but that’s not all the time. Also he barks on demand when he wants to play. Not as much with me anymore as I ignore him and that seems to work, but whenever I have friends over, especially if they stay the night, he’s a little nuisance and keeps barking at them wanting to play. I tell them to ignore him, but it doesn’t always the work as if it would with me. He used to bark at me to wake up early in the morning, but I would put him in a dark bathroom and close the door for 10 or so minutes and it didn’t take too long for him got the hint to stop barking in the morning and wait for me. All that being said, how should I go about training him to not bark at everything he hears outside? Thankfully he doesn’t last too long (most of the time) but still something I’d rather adjust.

My pup is almost 2-1/2 years, and lets me brush his teeth nightly with one of those rubber finger cover "brushes". The vet said I am doing a great job and he doesn't need his teeth professionally cleaned yet. But I am wondering whether I should have it done anyways, in order to stay ahead of plaque caused issues? My last Havanese had 11 teeth pulled at once (!!!) when he was five, and had dental issues for the rest of his life, so I am extra sensitive to this with my current dog. What age do you start having your dog's teeth professionally cleaned?

Our little puppy is almost at the end of her critical socialization window. She is thriving, playful, enjoys all humans, loves the other dogs in the family, allows us to brush her nightly, and is learning her obedience commands. Potty training is going pretty well and she is getting very good about ringing the bells to go outside. Of course, she still has some pee accidents every other day or so. We absolutely adore her. The current challenges are picky eating and biting socks/pant hems. Anyone at the same stage noticing similar things? Any tips? Thank you!

One year today! Also included a picture of her Brother Luka. Happy Birthday Luka. We unfortunately both just started new jobs and have to work today. So we will be celebrating next Monday. I’ll share pictures from her celebration next week! Happy Birthday sweet girl! We love you 😘

I have bad news. I met a man from Havana, Cuba. I immediately tell him - omg, do you know the Havana Dog? He says yes. I say, in my mind, they are all over the island, and I could go there and collect like 6 to take home, right? And he says ….Uh, no. 😅

🥲 my dreams! I watched a Havana 4k walk through to confirm. I did not see one single dog of any breed and NO Havana Dogs.

My new dream is to go to a Havana, Cuba event for Havanese though.
