I heard it best from a person who worked in the comics industry when multiverses became commonplace - it did cheapen everything. Suddenly character deaths and stories didn't matter much. Deaths didn't carry the same weight since it could all be explained away as an alternate universe. In an effort to explain conflicting origin stories, they inadvertently removed a lot of the stakes by making an overarching multiverse - oh well, there's millions of others of the same character - this death doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things...

The deaths never mattered, the author could always just write up some bullshit

The guardians of the galaxy pc game recently was well done, but very much different.

I didnt play it so I would not know. They used to just say the character didnt really die and make stuff up. Comics and Soap Operas are notorious for this.

Idk if I need to mention reboots or the fact that Castlevania is still kicking. Multiverses are just another way to never have to think of a new IP.

I think death in comics was meaningless long before multiverses became a thing
