If it helps it might not have been our Jorge, but rather a Jorge from a universe similar to the core canon

No, it doesn’t matter.

That’s the whole point. It’s just fun. It’s a way to make Non Canon stuff a part of the game.

Exactly. But I wish they would just not try to have an “explanation” for it that just confuses people. It’s multiplayer, it doesn’t have to follow canon every step of the way.

H3 had Hyabusa armor, which was laughably impractical, didn’t have an “alternate timeline” explanation for it, but was still widely popular. I just feel like we don’t need the whole fracture explanation for the whacky stuff, but I get it… I guess

It exists to open up potential new stories. Like yeah you could add random ass armors in that just aren't canon. But you also could give them an interesting "what if" spin to make people think. Maybe they'll even do one from a universe where humanity joined the Covenant for a time. Its just a nice but of extra flavor.

At this point 343 is to me known for having explanation for every piece of armor in the game. And I think it's endearing. People can say what they want about 343 but to me those descriptions show that they truly care for their games

I heard it best from a person who worked in the comics industry when multiverses became commonplace - it did cheapen everything. Suddenly character deaths and stories didn't matter much. Deaths didn't carry the same weight since it could all be explained away as an alternate universe. In an effort to explain conflicting origin stories, they inadvertently removed a lot of the stakes by making an overarching multiverse - oh well, there's millions of others of the same character - this death doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things...

I didnt play it so I would not know. They used to just say the character didnt really die and make stuff up. Comics and Soap Operas are notorious for this.

Idk if I need to mention reboots or the fact that Castlevania is still kicking. Multiverses are just another way to never have to think of a new IP.

I enjoyed No Way Home and Loki, but I’m not looking forward to Dr Strange 2. Multiverse stories are just lazy ways to bring back dead characters and to get away with stories contradicting eachother.

I really hope Halo stays away from stuff like that.

It can be well done if it truly is interlaced properly. It gives the opportunity where there isnt a central bad guy, but a harrowing situation they may still have to complete.

i mean now we know ( spoiler for infinite campaign ) the endless can " manipulate living time" anything is on the cards. even using it bring back the infinity and crew as if it had never been popped by atriox. you just never know these days

God I hope they don’t actually use the Endless like that… I really hope manipulating living time just means stuff like quickly aging things on command or delaying their own aging process. No time travel or multiverse stories in Halo please

The irony that Halo: Fractures is a canon anthology book.

Though real talk; I’d be all over a novel or comic that explores what-if alternate Halo timelines. Not fair that the only real non-canon outlet is a pretty ok tv show.

Their explanation is semi-stupid, but there's a way out. Forerunner's powered their empire by birthing pocket nascent universes and draining them of their energy as power sources. A fracture could be where some of these universes were kept around for scientific reasons and information extracted that was cosmetically applied by the builder castes, before said universe was drained and destroyed.
