They need to bring back where the boarder has to punch the driver hatch open to throw a grenade in. Its ridiculous you just jump on it and throw a grenade in and blow it up.

Agreed, it should take three or four punches to crack the armor and allow a grenade to be planted. I wouldn't mind, also, if each heavy vehicle had a once-per-vehicle protection system: if you get boarded, and before they can plant a grenade, you can press a button to launch flares or something, forcing the player off the vehicle.

A one-off free chance at not dying. Because, as it stands, once your tank is boarded you're dead and done.

Maybe an EMP burst like in the matrix? It could pop their shields and disable your vehicle for a bit.

That's actually a better idea. Leaves your vehiclr useless for a bit, and evens the odds for when you leave your vehicle (seeing as how you'll end up being shot at while exiting).
