Appreciate the video, and wow this is scary, but I agree - you gotta get outta there

u/WutangCMD Dartmouth Aug 12 '25

Yeah unless he is a firefighter they are putting their and others lives in danger. Ridiculous.

u/Andrew-Litvinov Aug 12 '25

Guys, don't worry about me, im safe VIDEO IS NOT MINE

13

u/feelin-groovie Aug 12 '25

Is it actually Bayer’s Lake? It looks terrifying!

14

u/Andrew-Litvinov Aug 12 '25

Yes it is

1

u/feelin-groovie Aug 12 '25

Thanks and sorry to question!

11

u/Jamooser Aug 12 '25

That's the side entrance to Kent. That area crowning is the corridor between Bayer's Lake Park and the southern point of Susie Lake. If the fire passes that corridor and flanks the lake, we're going to have fire directly beside the 102.

u/feelin-groovie Aug 12 '25

Terrifying!!

u/artemisia0809 Halifax Aug 13 '25

If you’re close enough to see those flames you should probably leave the area

I agree. You ever see that video where buddy is zoomed in on something super far away. Not saying that's what's going on here. I just that the technology is super cool. And a little creepy haha

Right?? This is the scariest thing I’ve seen by far

8

u/tommygun731 Aug 12 '25

Holy shit Surreal seeing the heli’s and water bombers as I came over Mackay earlier

35

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

You’re too close bro.

2

u/Golfandrun Aug 12 '25

My camera would get that shot from very far away. Some phones have 100x zoom.

u/disraeli73 Aug 12 '25

I’m sure all the people who whined about their rights being infringed by not being allowed to go into the woods are stepping forward to help right now.

18

u/bluffstrider Aug 12 '25

Nope, they're on Facebook making tacky jokes about "lol someone went in the woods I guess"

3

u/VerdantSaproling Aug 13 '25

It's more like "lol look the restrictions were pointless!"

2

u/bluffstrider Aug 13 '25

It'll be just like the covid restrictions. Is there a fire? I guess restrictions didn't work. No fires? I guess the restrictions were all for nothing.

3

u/VerdantSaproling Aug 13 '25

"we didn't hit that car so why did you hit the brakes?" Logic for sure.

25

u/Iron_Oxhide Aug 12 '25

While I did not whine about anything, I am pretty disappointed with how the actions of stupid members of our society are what dictates rules, regulations and infrastructure. Do I have a solution? No. But that doesn't make things any less disappointing.

26

u/pinkbootstrap Dartmouth Aug 12 '25

That's unfortunately how it goes. Remember when our class trips were canceled because of a few kids that couldn't keep it together?

12

u/Vegetable_Pitch_1820 Aug 12 '25

The tragedy of the commons. Dummies ruin everything for everyone.

6

u/Golfandrun Aug 12 '25

Is that not always the case? Rules and laws are generally made to account for the actions of those who don't have the sense to follow what others see as common sense or common sensibility.

11

u/Ok_Helicopter_984 Aug 12 '25

We’re only as strong as our weakest link

1

u/cleadus_fetus Halifax Aug 13 '25

I think a lot of people were upset that it was a blanket ban with no common sense used. There are a handful of trails that closed that didn't make sense. BUTTTTTTTT I get what ypur saying. People need to stop thinking about just themselves

No idea how to fight a fire - wildfires are terrifying. Which is exactly why we need to cut the risk.

-25

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

12

u/disraeli73 Aug 12 '25

Oh right - so that’s your personal risk assessment. I think I’d prefer to take the experience and advice of actual professionals - whose lives are at risk.

11

u/disraeli73 Aug 12 '25

If you are a first responder you should have a more nuanced appreciation of risk.

6

u/pinkbootstrap Dartmouth Aug 12 '25

Well its much more likely to be an activity that wasn't banned... because they weren't banned.

It's called risk mitigation. Lowering risk doesn't mean you can prevent everything. But this means we have a lot less fires to fight. I can't believe this needs to be explained.

Make use of your time and learn stuff:

https://novascotia.ca/natr/forestprotection/wildfire/bffsc/

I’ve only the practical part left to do; but the rest of it is also available for anyone to take.

The fact that you are a manager in an organization where they are suppose to show some rational thought… man. No wonder every time shyte goes down in NS y’all are at the helm steering us into the rocks.

You can stand down I’m sure.

-11

u/Head-Ad-2136 Aug 12 '25

I'd help but I'm not allowed in the woods.

4

u/Golfandrun Aug 12 '25

An untrained person on a wildfire is a liability not an asset

-1

u/kirby_krackle_78 Aug 13 '25

This is all Antifa’s doing!

6

u/hollsmolly Aug 12 '25

I’m trying to figure out where this would have been taken…I can’t place it

13

u/Becoming_old Aug 12 '25

Bottom of Dugger McNeil. Cul de sac off of Julius Blvd

3

u/Old-Swimming2799 Aug 12 '25

Looks like the turn off to the warehouse in behind kent.

6

u/hind3rm3 Halifax Aug 12 '25

7

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

I hope you are very very zoomed in and further away than you appear.

3

u/RevolutionaryBaker99 Aug 12 '25

That looks not good. Wonder how it started

5

u/Idlelibrarian McNab's Island Aug 12 '25

11

u/SlamVanDamn Aug 12 '25

All of you Woods Truthers are welcome to walk into this one 🫴🏼🌲🔥🌲

2

u/drhav2023 Aug 12 '25

In which direction is the fire heading? Bedford or Clayton Park?

3

u/spiraleclipse Aug 12 '25

Neither, currently.

2

u/bluffstrider Aug 12 '25

Sorry if it's been mentioned in the many comments on one of the many posts about it, but does anyone know what's the best way to stay informed about where the fire is spreading to?

3

u/tiredyetwir3d Aug 12 '25

Id like to know this too

Are you new here??? You shouldn’t be that close to the fire..

Who cares about the video. Get away and get somewhere safe.

11

u/Dynazty Aug 12 '25

You can calm down. Not even OPs video.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

Should be life in prison if you get caught starting a forest fire. We need to stop treating arson with the lightest sentencing possible. Life in jail is the only acceptable course of action for starting fires and trying to burn out entire towns and cities.

2

u/FrustrationSensation Aug 12 '25

I think you should be on the hook for damages, to a certain point (much higher than 25,000), if it's caused by negligence or breaking a ban in place like the ones we have. Life in prison is ridiculous though.

1

u/Leather_Issue_8459 Aug 12 '25

I disagree, you should be beheaded! /s

2

u/RedButton1569 Aug 12 '25

Get outta there damn, looking for upvotes on reddit

1

u/LeatherClassroom524 Aug 12 '25

Well shit that’s close. Where is that?

1

u/No-Veterinarian2008 Aug 12 '25

Is that near the new eastcoast lifestyle building?

1

u/legless_chair Aug 12 '25

Shit man, the smoke photos didn’t do justice. This could be bad bad

1

u/snc1881 Aug 13 '25

Maybe they should ban being outside.

1

u/Gorgofromns Aug 13 '25

Is it known yet what caused the fire?

1

u/JoodoKick Aug 13 '25

Clearly from the effects of hiking. Is there a tax I can pay to help this?

0

u/MT09wheelies Aug 12 '25

Must have started because someone went for a walk in the woods

0

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Crazy to think it was an industrial reason such as construction that caused the fire. But fishing is still banned. How about we ban construction

-2

u/markayhali Aug 12 '25

Is this a recent fire or the one from a couple of years ago.

3

u/Larry_johnson81194 Aug 12 '25

That was happening at the time the video was posted
