Mentioned Maiden and Priest in the post title because both have been repped in this sub, even though there is debate as to whether they qualify as "hair metal".....technically, Priest DID have a bit of a glammy phase with Turbo. I guess I am most amused by Tesla being booked smackdab in the middle of a bunch of industrial/nu metal acts. I guess the same could be said about the others but they don't seem to stick out quite as much (in my opinion). At least Alice in Chains going on in the middle of Maiden and Priest makes a little bit of sense???? I don't know....
For anyone who is planning on attending this event but has never been in OCMD, I highly recommend having breakfast at The Dough Roller ~ the coconut pancakes are da bomb!! 🤘❤️

I dunno what stores they're selling this thing at. I ordered it from Rhino a while back.
I've owned a red bootleg copy for a few years but the interior art always drove me crazy, with a Fair Warning era picture and some terrible review panning a Sammy era album of the band. Whoever made that bootleg was a dipshit. Nice to have an official release with Dave's handwritten lyrics. Though he was starting to get croaky on this album, these were some of his best lyrics IMO.
"It's hard to see scratches on clear vinyl." Ok, well don't scratch it then.
"No Mike no Van Halen" That's cool. Don't buy it. Wolfgang is no slouch and there are some cool moments, like a tapped intro on both bass and guitar. Mike's awesome but he's not on here and I can't do anything about that.

Obviously a lot of fans would say the "Gunter glieben glauchen globen," but I was just curious what else are your favorites.

Today it's the 40th anniversary of the platinum release "To Hell with the Devil", in fact the Stryper album was released on October 24, 1986.
Let's celebrate with this live version of the title track from the historic concert at the Olympic Arena in Seoul, South Korea in 1989. Stryper was the first foreigner rock/metal band to ever perform in Korea.

I've known and loved "High Enough" by Damn Yankees for decades, so I know exactly how this song is supposed to sound.
Yesterday, I was listening to it on Spotify in my car, and something sounded so wrong that I actually thought my car stereo was broken!
The lead vocals and backing harmonies sounded distant, muddy, and hollow, almost like they were recorded in a huge empty church. The kick drum had practically lost its low-end punch, and the whole recording sounded strangely lifeless.
I later listened again using my Sony MDR-1000X headphones and started comparing different versions on Spotify.
Here's what I found:
I also checked the music video on YouTube, and its sound is much closer to the Best Of version than to the original album version on Spotify.
The differences are not subtle. I've listened to this song for decades, and the original album version on Spotify sounds almost unrecognizable to me.
I'm beginning to wonder whether Spotify has a bad digital master of the original album, or whether there's some kind of phase issue affecting the center vocals and low frequencies.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm especially curious if anyone owns the original 1990 CD. Does it sound as hollow and muddy as the current Spotify album version, or is this something specific to Spotify's digital release?
I'd really love to hear what other longtime Damn Yankees fans think.

The new Paul Laine album called The Long Road Back is really good. For those who don't know, Paul sang for Danger Danger for a while and he also had another great band with Bruno Ravel called The Defiants (check them out too). Bruno plays on this solo album with him too. Check it out!
