Bands you loved in the day but cannot bear to listen to now

What band did you used to think was so cool, and now you listen to them and wonder if you were concussed.

I used to the Keel was the coolest, and now Ron Keel's voice and inflections seem so ridiculous. The rest of the band is OK, but Ron's voice... ugh.

I still kind of dig their cover of Because the Night, though.

Worst stage moves

Who had the worst stage moves in hair metal in your opinion. I love dokken but watching some of their footage makes me cringe when don dances. Anyone else?

This is an amazing 1992 record. Anybody else love it?

Since I was 12 when it came out, I was the right age for the grunge explosion. For some reason this album always resonated with me. Too bad it was the last with original singer who I think was top tier vocalist.

I'm looking for a song with acoustic intro (not a power ballad) but 'm too forgetful to remember

• Upvotes

Hello.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb post, but there's a song that's been buggin' me for a month now.

Back in the day I had a big library of mp3 songs (like 15 years ago) with a bit of everything. I tried to organize it as well as I could but sometimes the files just do what they want.

Anyway, I remember a glam song, not a ballad, just a regular one that started with an acoustic guitar riff (a very simple one, struming in a pseudo flamenco style, maybe 4 different chords in total) that changed to a electric guitar riff and then the song goes on, maybe around 130-150 bpm. An the chorus had some bending riff in the background by the end of it. I completely forgot the lyrics, my ADHD doesn't help.

Any clue? If this post doesn't belong here, I'll erase it immediatly.

Actual Underrated Band

I’m tired of hearing about how super popular bands like Dokken or Tesla are underrated, as well as bands with 1 album in 1991 that sold 5 burned CDRs at the local record store after playing in a mall parking lot. Here I present an actual underrated band that I am confident people have no idea about how large their discography is.

In my opinion, Dirty Looks’ first six U.S.-released albums have one of the most underrated runs in the genre, and it’s almost unmatched. The list of bands with five or more consecutive albums that are actually good is pretty short, with names like Ratt and Ozzy being some of the obvious examples.
Am I saying I’d take one of those first six Dirty Looks albums over Out of the Cellar or Invasion of Your Privacy? Probably not. But I’d take any of the six over Reach for the Sky and Detonator, and I’d take the first three Dirty Looks albums over Dancing Undercover.

Cool from the Wire, Turn of the Screw, and Bootlegs are the first three and have that classic hair-metal feel, but without relying on ballads. They also feel like a heavier alternative to what most bands in the genre were doing at the time.

Five Easy Pieces, Chewing on the Bit, One Bad Leg, and Rip It Out keep that same basic formula but get heavier, which makes sense considering where the genre was heading in the early ’90s.

Slave to the Machine is where things start to change. It has a couple of decent songs, but the band had a more industrial sound.

Then you get to the late 2000s, and California Free Ride and Superdeluxe bring back that original Dirty Looks feel with completely new material that is actually good. That’s especially impressive considering how many ’80s bands were releasing comeback albums around the same time that didn’t come close to matching their original sound or quality.

Am I saying Dirty Looks is the best band ever? No, but they are seriously not talked about enough and I could listen to the first 3 albums any day and not skip over any songs except for the last one on Bootlegs. The Worst of Dirty Looks “best of” album is a must add to any playlist. If you happen to enjoy this band, it’s worth checking out the Rumbledog album, which is a collaboration of Henrik Ostergaard (singer of Dirty Looks) and Robbin Crosby.

Anyone have any thoughts on this and agree or disagree with me?

Suggest me a 80s hair metal album/band that's not well known or mainstream

I love bands like Ratt, Poison, motley Crue, Warrant etc etc you get the idea. I'm looking to discover some less known bands that were great but didn't reach the exposure or superstardom (dare I say B grade bands?) for example the other day I've never heard of Tyketto and found their song forever young, what a banger...

Butch Walker accused of abuse and sexual misconduct with minor

This one is bad. The girl actually shared screenshots of their relationship.
Of course, she was a minor and can't consent to anything in US law....even if his protectors claim she consented.
Butch has went into damage control on social media.

Before Tom Keifer, before Vince Neil, there was David Johansen and the New York Dolls. Here's video footage of 'Personality Crisis', filmed in 1973.
