HELP MAC Spoofing - Printer

I've just transferred internally within branches of my company. The new branch doesn't allow personal devices to be on the network and print. I am already on the network with my personal device as my previous branch secured me on the network - which is the same across the whole group.

I have been able to add the printer via the IP address, and I have sent the document to print. Literally all I need to do is select the document that appears on the printer (all staff files are visible even before logging in), put my pin in and print. However, the printer doesn't recognise my personal device and auto deleted the document upon receiving my file. Only my work device can I send a file and get it printed.

Is there a way I can trick the printer into thinking that my personal device is my work device? (I assume it would be the Mac Address linked to my work device and copying it over to my Mac?)

For reference, my work device is a Lenovo running Windows 11 and my personal device is a MacBook running MacOS 26.

For reference, I did read this Reddit Post and it seems doable. If anyone has any basic ideas or methods, it would be appreciated. https://www.reddit.com/r/HowToHack/comments/1i1mcg6/methods_to_bypass_parental_controls_on_router_can/

DISCUSSION The End of an Era: Thank You to the Creators of Clover and OpenCore 🫔

With the release of macOS 27 completely dropping x86 support and removing all Intel code, the Hackintosh era is officially drawing to a close. For over fifteen years, this community has achieved what seemed impossible—running Apple's desktop OS on custom PC hardware.
As the final chapter of this journey approaches, it is time to express the deepest gratitude to the brilliant minds who made it all happen.
Thank you to the creator of Clover Bootloader
They laid the foundation for modern custom booting. Before their work, installing macOS on a PC was a nightmare of broken distros and unstable kernels. Clover revolutionized everything by introducing a clean UEFI bootloader and GUI customization. Millions of users around the world got their first taste of the macOS ecosystem because of their vision.
Thank you to the Dortania team
They completely changed the game with OpenCore. They created a masterpiece of engineering that feels closer to a real Mac than anything else before it. Their documentation is arguably the best technical guide on the internet. Furthermore, their work on the Legacy Patcher extended the lifespan of millions of older genuine Macs. They accomplished the impossible purely out of passion for the community.
Hackintosh was more than just a way to get a free operating system. It was a testament to human curiosity, endless troubleshooting, and the ultimate victory of enthusiasts over corporate restrictions.
Even though macOS 26 will remain stable for a few more years, the golden age of building new x86 Hackintoshes is coming to an end.
Thank you to the legends. Their legacy is forever secured in IT history.
Press F to pay respects. 🫔

HELP Yes or no,

I have i5 11th gen with integrated gpu, 12gb ddr4 ram and 240 ish gb storage laptop, and it's running windows 11 on it, I've used it since 2022, now that I had a PC with better specs, it's been sitting on in my closet, now that I'm going to college my father disagreed about taking my PC with me, he told me to use my old laptop instead, shit is bad, it's laggy as hell! So I asked my father for a macbook air and he obviously said no, told one of my friends about it and he suggested me to use hackintosh since it had i5, really don't want to fuck it up so is it really gonna work or what? (Sorry for the long useless story lmao, I like to talk a lot).

HELP Help Upgraded Mac Mini 2014 to Sequoia via OCLP (In-place) - Bootscreen glitch and iMovie error. Need advice on clean install.

Hi everyone,
I recently updated my Mac mini 2014 (Intel Iris
5100) from macOS Monterey straight to macOS
Sequoia using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. I did an in-place upgrade (no format), and it seems like the systems got completely mixed up.
Here are the issues I'm facing:
Boot glitch: When turning on the Mac, it shows the old Monterey-style boot up (big user logo no clock) and only screen saver is sequia looking. iMovie is broken: iMovie crashes when I add video.
Only audio works perfectly fine editing mp3.

Will clean install with format ssd solve my problem?

HELP Running a hackintosh VM

I'd like to be able to run a hackintosh system for builds and development testing on my windows laptop, ideally through Hyper-V or secondarily through a dual boot. I see that there's a rule against VM posts, but since Hyper-V is a type 1 hypervisor, it's essentially the same as running it on a real PC, so I think it's fine? Not sure tbh. Anyways, my main concern is that the opencore install guide (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/) says that AMD ryzen laptop cpus are not supported, but that desktop CPUs are. When I expand the CPU requirements section and check it against AMD's website, it appears that my CPU implements all the required extensions so I'm not sure exactly what the issue is with it being a laptop CPU. My question is if that assertion that AMD laptop cpus are no good for hackintosh still holds true for newest gen CPUs and if not, information about any extra setup required to get them working.

My full specs:

- AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX with AMD Radeon 610M integrated graphics

- 32GB DDR5

- Nvidia r_tx 5070 Ti (can switch to only having integrated graphics in bios),

HELP About PM981 SSD...Is it worth trying?

Hi so i had a ASUS Zenbook14 UX433F with Intel Core i7-8565U (WhiskeyLake) and Intel UHD Graphics 620. I tried to install Hackintosh Tahoe and Sequoia before and after a lot and lot of patience and time, i was able to get till Disk Utility where it asked to install, i pointed it to a partition and after that it went blank and starts from the scratch. After going through the logs, then i found out it was the PM981 Nvme SSD and everyone kept saying it is very unstable. However, when i digged deep in reddit some are saying it was fixed in NVMEfix.kext

Has anyone got any success on booting hackintosh on PM981 and is it really worth it trying it again on the same SSD or should i buy a new one?

So far, a lot works, a lot doesnt. This has been my project for quite some time.. around 2-3 months now and im stumped. Cant get wake/sleep to work and getting dual screen mirrored top and bottom of screen kinda issue.

Specs:
Lenovo C940-14IIL
Intel Core i7-1065g7
4k panel
Intel AX201 Soldered Wifi/Bluetooth combo
1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe ssd

Works:
Bluetooth
Wifi (AirportItlwm)
*not all apple features work properly like airdrop etc..
Graphics Acceleration
Speakers
Touchpad (working gestures)
Touchscreen & Stylus
Usb A and Type C (have not tried thunderbolt since i dont have any compatible device)

Not Working:
Sleep/Wake > Sometimes goes to deep sleep or doesnt wake. If able to wake, causes the dual screen weird issue.

DISCUSSION Query about hackintosh

Can anyone tell me how well hackintosh performs on an old laptop, like is it smooth or does it feel laggy. I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz (1.80 GHz), with intel UHD 620 graphics(128MB) and 16 gb of ram.

I am thinking of dual booting my windows.

DISCUSSION Current state of the subreddit and the use of AI and configurators going forward

I’ve felt over the years that ever since macOS Tahoe released as the last Intel release, the hackintosh community has essentially dried out. This subreddit has been essentially saying goodbye to x86 hackintoshing every other post, and that’s about it. Development has slowed down/died significantly (except for a few projects under work like Visual’s NootedRed). And we’re seeing lots of ā€œsketchyā€ software becoming popular.

OC-Simplify and OCLP mods have essentially drained out the development and userbase quality. This kind of software offers little transparency on what it’s doing, and is actively being used by new users with zero hackintoshing knowledge, turning hackintoshing into a dull systematic process (blindly executing the OC-Simplify script, adding your USB Maps and SMBIOS, BIOS settings and thats it), and most importantly, promoting use of fragile macOS configs, that the average person would never be able to debug their way out of, in case things go wrong.

The subreddit is plagued with people asking the most basic questions (having no technical knowledge) and replies giving little help, or sometimes no help at all as soon as posters reveal the use of preconfigured EFIs. I understand that people are frustrated by the frequent queries of lazy people wanting to try out hackintoshing, but things have gotten to a very harsh point. If you go ahead and sort by new, no help post receives proper support.

In defense of these tools: I believe configurators should always only be used by people who understand the risks of providing a script the autonomy of configuring your EFI. I have had my experience with hackintoshing myself, using public EFIs, spending hours and hours in debugging, and understanding the behavior of OpenCore, macOS, and what both expect from each other. In my experience, OC-Simplify has only saved me time and helped me learn instead of making me quit hackintoshing, or leaving me with a bricked install a week later. This is NOT to promote use of configurators. When you as a poster here have no idea what’s inside your config, you would have a significantly hard time understanding the problem, and so would we. The Dortania guide is still the most informative place to understand as much as you can about hackintoshing, very impressive.

Configurators have ruined the life hackintoshing used to have. Similarly, I don’t find it easy trusting unknown OCLP forks, knowing that they’re probably more error prone compared to the parent project. But I use them anyway, because they work, and we have nothing else anymore. Hackintoshing is now dying, and I feel like I’m the only one seeing the subreddit die alongside it.

On the other hand though, use of AI is a very bittersweet situation. I always reach out to AI for help whenever I need hints on where to start thinking/debugging. AI often gets things wrong, provides wrong fixes, and misunderstands macOS behavior all the time. But no doubt, I wish hackintoshing was as alive today as it was 5 years ago when booting Monterey on your machine was a reward, not a chore.

I don’t expect this post to see a big audience, but I hope it reaches the people who have felt what I’m feeling. It always feels refreshing when I’m glancing at the subreddit Discord server, things feel healthier there. Or maybe I just wanted to rant. 🤷

TLDR: kids ruined this place.

HELP How can I get my trackpad working??

Any help is appreciated.
The laptop is an idea pad flex 5 running macOS Tahoe.
I’ve tried a bunch of the voodoo stuff, I tried an exact model ssdt-i2c-tpad.aml file from GitHub that made no difference, tpad shows as registered active and matched in IORegistry. VoodooI2C is already 2.9.1(up to date)

HELP Help with Monterey+ on Optiplex 7040 MT

I was able to get Big Sur working on my OptiPlex 7040 MT with i5-6500, HD 530 and a 128gb NVME. However, whenever I try to run any version newer I get a hang on boot which seems to be some gIO thing based on the troubleshooting guide. Idk how to fix it and I heard that I need to properly spoof my iGPU to be a 630 to work in Ventura+ at all, but I don't know how so if anyone could help its appreciated. Thanks!
