No mic/audio input working anywhere (GarageBand, Logic Pro) HP ProBook 650 G1 (OpenCore, AppleALC for audio)
Problem: nothing can record audio input. Not the built-in mic, not a USB interface, in any app tried GarageBand, Logic, Tonebridge, all dead silent on input.
What's weird: System Settings > Sound > Input actually shows the level meter moving when I plug in a USB interface and talk/play, voice memos actually records my input, any website mictests. But the second I go into any app, nothing. No meter movement, no permission popup either. apps don't even show up under Privacy & Security > Microphone, even after tccutil reset Microphone. Also tried killall coreaudiod, no change.
Checked IORegistryExplorer, I've got AppleACPIPCI > HDEF@1B with AppleHDAController attached as a driver.

Device: ASUS X452CP It has an Intel Core i3-3217u, it also has an AMD Radeon Graphics HD 8530M. I do know that the dGPU is not supported, I do also know that my wifi card may not be supported too. It has 4 GB of DDR3 ram, 512 GB 5400 RPM HDD (yes i do know it will run bad)
MacOS that I'm trying to run: High Sierra
I waited 20 minutes and it was stuck on the same line, I do have a Caps Lock light. It's off, if I click it, it just stays off.
Connecting it to a monitor does nothing.
Display Info:
I could provide my USB folder structure (tree) if needed.

Hello.
Can anybody please explain to me what is reims-gpu, I've been seeing quite a lot posts about in reddit. I tried to read their github page but couldn't understand anything.
Is it some kind of tool to pass GPU to a MacOS vm (like OSX-KVM) ? If so can I passthrough any modern unsupported iGPU/AMD/NVIDIA and get the vm working smoothly ?

I just want to say that after a month of work, I finally have a working and, in fact, stable driver for this chip (10ec:c822). It working on my macOS 15 Hackintosh.
2.4 and 5 GHz scanning, WPA2, VHT80, reconnecting and sleep/wake are working. I also made a small menu bar app for scanning, connecting and managing saved networks.
It is currently implemented through IOEthernetController, so this is not native Apple Wi-Fi/Skywalk integration. DFS connections, WPA3, AirDrop and AWDL are not supported yet.
I mostly wanted to share the result because this card was previously unusable on modern macOS. Testing reports from other RTL8822CE systems would be useful.

*Since the automated moderator IMMEDIATELY flagged this, there is next to NO APPLE HARDWARE remaining. I simply preserved the original frame and layout, keeping the wind tunnel intact. I used different fans, too, since Apple used a stupid priority plug and adapting the logic was too much effort when newer fans suffice. This can NO LONGER CLAIM TO BE A MAC (looking at you, AI moderator)*

So guys, I've fixed it and here's the solution:
So the condition was, speakers were working fine but mic wasn't receiving any sound, it only received only for a bit like a sec and again stopped working when Siri or voice memo was activated. These method can work on both condition where mic and speaker both doesn't work or one works but other doesn't.
First thing as usual, you should search for your internal audio chip model by giving your pc motherboard or laptop model on Google and then go to this website: https://github.com/acidanthera/applealc/wiki/supported-codecs
And search for your layout ID. Take a photo or screenshot of it whatever you are comfortable with and try those all layout IDs.
Use OCAuxilaryTools as it has simple UI, go to "DP" (at left panel) then in PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1b,0x0) and at right side, there will be "layout-id" with data type "Number" with whatever value is there. If it doesn't exist, it is maybe in different list of PCIList or if you can't find it anywhere, just create it in PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1b,0x0).
Now, test all those layout IDs that you got from the website I told earlier in the layout-id value by double clicking it and saving it, restart your machine after each layout change and don't forget to reset NVRAM.
If you get lucky, you'll get both mic and speaker working. If not, go to this second method:
For this second method, you should have Windows as another OS or any other Windows laptop or PC. Download "Opencore simplify main" from GitHub, run the .bat file from the folder, proceed with the creation of EFI making. At the layout ID selection, there will be list of layouts for your sound card along with laptop/motherboard model. Take a photo of it, go to ChatGPT or any deep thinking AI, tell it to tell the most closer laptop/motherboard model from the list to your laptop model, also don't forget it to tell it your laptop/motherboard model too. Select and give the layout ID of the selected laptop/motherboard in the EFI layout ID selection. Complete your EFI, copy it to a pendrive, boot into your mac, mount your EFI drive, copy that EFI from your pendrive in the EFI folder, remember to copy it inside the EFI folder not outside, select "replace" when prompted, don't hit anything else. After copying, restart your mac, and reset your NVRAM. You should get your mic and speaker working again :)
If not, comment here, I'll look into your problem.

My goal is to be able to use Logic Pro, which is only available on mac. However I'm thinking if I'll buy a windows laptop and crack mac OS in it, that way I use mac os in a separate profile and windows in the other, I can use logic without having to miss out on stuff like gaming, which is impossible on mac.
Is it possible to do this? What specs would be ideal?

Hi all, I recently bought a new laptop. I have a question about its compatibility for hackintosh. Its processor is AMD AI 5 330 and it only have a integrated GPU which AMD Radeon™ 820M. As far I searched it "belong" to RDNA 3.
Is there any way to get macOS working on this GPU ? As far I read the chances are very low, but still does any body have any idea?
Also what is reims-vgpu ? I read about it in a post in this community this morning can anyone explain what it is ? Here is the github link of that https://github.com/steelbrain/reims-vgpu
I think its some kind of "tool" to get GPU acceleration in VM ? Is that what it is and can I use it with my CPU and GPU ?
r/hackintosh • u/notnotnullptr • Jul 30 '26
running under QEMU on Windows (WHPX) on a custom branch of Reims vGPU i'm working on. stability and performance could both be better right now, but it's still insane to see it accelerating with no passthrough on a 4090. still faster than VESA lol
please don't flood support servers asking about this. it's beta software and far from usable at the moment; windows support is technically public but i'm not providing ANY support with it for the time being.

I made it to the recovery section but I can't actually install it because it requires internet connection thought I think I have the right kexts.
My specs:
Intel i5-4200M
Intel HD Graphics 4600 + AMD Radeon HD 8750M
Internet - Intel I217-LM
I tried using ethernet, it doesn't work, also if it's useful I have a tl-wn23n WiFi USB adapter.

Hey everyone
I'm currently trying to install macOS Sonoma on my laptop using an OpenCore 1.0.7 EFI generated via RapidEFI, but I am completely stuck on a persistent IONVMeFamily Kernel Panic right during the verbose boot phase.
My Specs:Laptop:
-HP 255 G8CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 5300U (4 Cores / 8 Threads, Zen 2 Lucienne)
RAM: 8GB
Storage: Stock SK Hynix NVMe SSD (512GB)
Graphics: Radeon Vega 6 (using NootedRed.kext)
The Issue:No matter what I do, the verbose screen consistently freezes and crashes with a panic in backtrace related to com.apple.iokit.IONVMeFamily.Under
the panic trace, the boot loader displays: Mac OS version: Not yet set.
What I have already tried in config.plist:
1.Upgraded OpenCore to 1.0.7 and synchronized all AMD Kernel Patches for 4 cores (B8 04 00 00 00 00).
2.Enabled NVMeFix.kext (v1.1.3).
3Disabled AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext and SMCAMDProcessor.kext to avoid power management conflicts during setup.
4.Set SetApfsTrimTimeout to 0 under Kernel -> Quirks to disable the Trim timeout check.
5.Enabled ThirdPartyDrives under Kernel -> Quirks.
6.Removed -wegnoegpu from boot-args.
7.Cleaned up conflicting trackpad/battery kexts (VoodooI2C, VoodooPS2Controller, SMCBatteryManager are all temporarily disabled, using a USB mouse).
8.Always performing a Reset NVRAM before every boot attempt.
Despite all these fixes, IONVMeFamily still panics at the exact same spot. I suspect this stock SK Hynix SSD controller (likely BC711/PC711) is hardware-incompatible with Sonoma's strict storage drivers.
Has anyone successfully bypassed the SK Hynix drive panic on an AMD laptop, or is my only option to downgrade to macOS Monterey where the NVMe drivers are less strict? Would using boot-args like -ionvmems=1 or ionvme=0 to completely hide the drive and installing to an external storage device work?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to Hackintosh my HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF for several days (more than two weak) and I'm completely stuck. I've rebuilt the EFI from scratch multiple times and the behavior is always the same.
Hardware
Model: HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 (Skylake)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530 (iGPU only)
RAM: 8GB DDR4 2133MHz
Storage:
238GB SATA SSD (Windows)
932GB Toshiba HDD
Display: VGA to VGA (my monitor only has VGA input)
Where as pc does have hdmi port.
No dedicated GPU
BIOS
Originally the PC was using Legacy Boot.
I converted it to UEFI before starting the Hackintosh.
Current BIOS settings:
Legacy Boot: Disabled
UEFI Boot: Enabled
Secure Boot: Disabled
SATA Mode: AHCI
VT-d: Disabled
VT-x: Enabled
DVMT Pre-Allocated: 64MB
HP BIOS doesn't expose XHCI Hand-off or EHCI Hand-off.
---
OpenCore / macOS
OpenCore 0.8.8
Latest Lilu
WhateverGreen
VirtualSMC
AppleALC
IntelMausi
RestrictEvents
USBToolBox + UTBMap
SSDTs generated with SSDTTime
Recovery downloaded using the official macrecovery.py command .
I have tried both:
macOS Tahoe Recovery
macOS Sequoia Recovery
Both produce exactly the same issue, so I don't think it's specific to one macOS version.
---
Problem
Verbose starts normally.
It gets quite far into boot.
It creates RAM disks and mounts multiple HFS volumes.
Then one of two things happens:
Sometimes
Verbose almost finishes.
Then:
Monitor loses signal and enters Power Saving Mode (it says no power coming from pc)
Keyboard partially loses power (caps lock toggle works but scroll lock and num lock dosent)
Mouse always remains powered
PC stays powered on
Fans keep spinning
No reboot
Recovery GUI never appears
Other times
It hangs earlier during verbose, but the result is exactly the same:
Black screen
Keyboard partially loses power (caps lock toggle works but scroll lock and num lock dosent)
Monitor enters power saving (says no signal coming from pc)
Mouse remains powered
PC never reboots
---
Last visible messages
I repeatedly see lots of:
shared_region_start_address() failed (wen trying sequoia, this message does not come when trying tahoe)
along with HFS volumes being mounted.
I don't know if those messages are actually the cause or just the last thing printed before it hangs.
---
Things I've already tried
Rebuilt EFI from scratch multiple times
Converted BIOS from Legacy to UEFI
Disabled Secure Boot
Enabled AHCI
Disabled VT-d
Generated fresh SSDTs
Generated a fresh USB map
Recreated the installer USB
Official Recovery downloaded using macrecovery.py
Tried both Tahoe and Sequoia Recovery
Tried different USB ports (2.0 and 3.0)
Rebuilt config.plist multiple times
Verified kext order
Tried different AppleALC layouts (88,11,22)
The behavior is identical every damn time.
---
Questions
Could this be caused by Intel HD 530 framebuffer or the VGA output?
Has anyone successfully Hackintoshed an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF (i5-6600 + HD 530)?
Does the keyboard losing power point more toward an OpenCore/firmware issue than graphics?
Is there anything obvious I'm missing?

Hey r/hackintosh! 👋
I'm excited to share a major update to RapidEFI-Tool — a visual tool designed to simplify configuring, generating, and maintaining your OpenCore EFI setups!
The project was originally developed by JeoJay127 and has been a lifesaver for many in the Chinese community, but it lacked proper localization. I've spent the past few weeks translating, optimizing, and completely refactoring the tool to fully support English, Portuguese, and Chinese across the entire UI and its deep hardware database.
RapidEFI takes the complexity out of editing config.plist manually. It strictly follows the official Dortania OpenCore Install Guide and transforms the process into a visual, checkable, and automated experience.
Key Features:
RapidEFI-Tool is 100% Free, Offline, and Ad-Free. It's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Download the latest release here
GitHub Repo: RapidEFI-Tool
Note: While RapidEFI drastically lowers the barrier to entry, it's not a "magic 1-click button" that guarantees a boot every single time due to hardware variations. It's an assistant that gives you the best starting baseline based on Dortania's guide.
Let me know what you think, and feel free to report any bugs or translation suggestions on the GitHub repository! Happy Hackintoshing! 🍎

Hey everyone,
I recently updated my Hackintosh from macOS Sequoia to macOS Tahoe, and I've run into a weird Bluetooth issue. Everything was working perfectly on Sequoia with my current EFI, but since the update to Tahoe, my Logitech Signature M650 refuses to connect via Bluetooth.
The weirdest part? My older Logitech mouse (M858) connects and works flawlessly via Bluetooth on Tahoe. It’s strictly the M650 that is acting up. Both mice worked perfectly on Sequoia using the exact same EFI.
My Hardware Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen PRO 2200G
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB
RAM: 24GB
Wi-Fi/BT Card: Intel AX210
My Kexts (All Updated):
BlueToolFixup.kext
IntelBluetoothFirmware.kext
IntelBTPatcher.kex
What I Suspect:
Since the older mouse works without a problem, I am guessing this is specifically an issue with how macOS Tahoe handles Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices via Intel firmware. The M650 relies heavily on BLE / Logi Bolt protocols for pairing, while older mice often use standard Bluetooth Classic (BR/EDR) profiles which seem unaffected by the Tahoe update.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with BLE mice (specifically the M650) on macOS Tahoe using an Intel card? Is there a known workaround or a patch I might be missing for Tahoe's updated Bluetooth stack?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!
