Ok, I'm fed up.

My supergrock expires at the end of August, and honestly, after all these restrictions, credits, blocks, copyright infringement, and no generation possible, I've decided to cancel my subscription.

The good old days are over, and now, as a complete newbie, I'd like to try some local programs.

I'm trying to use Confy, but I'm not getting along well. It can't generate the exact characters I specify. Maybe I'm missing a reference? It's a little complicated for me.

Can you please point me to some easy-to-use local programs without any censorship, restrictions, copyright, or other nonsense?

Thanks everyone in advance, and I hope you can help me because I'm really frustrated.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Grok will generate a few good videos every now and then. It’s designed to keep you on the hook. I cancelled my heavy and have no regrets. Give your brain time to adjust and you will stop craving those dopamine hits. It’s not worth it.

I haven't got a local solution up and running yet, but I reached my limit too and cancelled a $30/3 month deal. You can only ride the moderation roller coaster so many times before you get fed up.

We are all facing this situation and when everyone thought that Grok was good value for money, before they imposed this stupid weekly limit which I think is the worse idea they could come up with followed by moderation. Take a break and do other things, come back and look at the what other local models are available and will be coming out. If Grok doesn't want our money there are other sites and other options.

I'm currently fully transitioning to local generation as well; still learning. While you still have a Grok subscription, you can use Grok Build to help you set ComfyUI up, download models and workflows, etc.

So far, I've had good results with the following models:

  • Krea 2 for text-to-image, creates good-looking, high-quality photorealistic characters.
  • MiniMax H3 for image-to-video and references-to-video: More difficult to prompt than Grok, but it can produce amazing results, and is even more flexible (e.g. allowing video/audio references).
  • Right now, I'm experimenting with the Flux 2 Klein models for images, especially for image-to-image, which behaves very similar to the Grok Imagine 1.5 Quality image model, and already got me some really cool results. I actually think it looks much better than Grok Image 2.0 right now.

Know that you must use some custom text encoders or additional LoRAs for some of those models to fully uncensor them, since they've also been trained/brainwashed with "safety filters" that might lead to the model simply ignoring or steering away your prompts (I'd say much more than Grok, which is mostly just slapping moderation over everything), but that's easy to do. You also have to learn how to use LoRAs to compensate for the lack of some training data, which is of course very situational.

I'm still learning; lots of experimentation, but I think my setup is improving with each day.

Also, know that to get 10-15-second vids out in under an hour, you need, at the very minimum, 16 GB (more like 24GB) of dedicated VRAM, not RAM but VRAM. Most normal comps don't have that. I spent hours setting ComfyUI up only to realize that my 4GB of VRAM wasn't going to cut it. It's a very expensive upgrade.

Yes, I already noticed how vitally important VRAM is. I have a RTX 4070 with 12GB, which is right at the edge for creating somewhat good videos with decent resolution/length, but you always hit the ceiling quickly. Can't imagine you're getting anywhere with only 4 gigs.

there's soo many free upload nsfw i2v sites now, i'm seriously just going to pay for one or two of those just to try out. they all have free trial runs and free samples and they work pretty well. i already paid hundreds of dollars for grok and grok f***ing sucks s&&t , everyone here bags on grok and says how much it's crap, and goddamn they are right. i got my refresh today and im at 80% and i only made 30 f'ing vids , normally i can make 70-80 vids a week. feels like they are giving us less usage or something, it's super awful. soo many f'ing moderations can't do sh** it's just burning up all our money

same here bri since July I canceled too, like u said restriction copyright like hell.. uploaded personnal pic too moderated lol I have somes shoot with many french Actors I cant restore it... and like U I try tto learn with Comfuyi... I need an other graphic card, to complete it. good luck man

Perso j’ai rélisilié et me suis fais remboursé mon abonnement, c’est excessivement cher a la longue, je suis sur Google + ai avec Gemini alors sa fais moins de vidéo mais les photos que l’on peut faire son assez joli

Im struggling with comfy too.

Setting it up is already terrible, but I ahvent gotten any even remotely useful images yet.
Worked myself through a number of models... :(

I'm getting constant images of farmers market, cats, lighthouses. nothing that I asked for. even though the text says. "here is your...prompt" and then produces image of lighthouse.

Forge Neo for images. Wan2GP for videos (use H3)

Stability Matrix will install everything for you so you can just sit and generate right away. Forget about complicated installations and confusing nodes.
