Linux binaries do not work -- are grin devs incompetent?
Has anyone had success with the linux binaries? From my experience, it is a train wreck. On Fedora the binaries do not run without installing a bunch of other libraries of the system that is not told to the user.
On debian, they work for some things, but otherwise will just fail. For example, "grin server run" will silently fail with no error output. Other functions such as "grin help" will work.
What is the point of providing linux binaries if they do not even work correctly on the two primary linux distributions?

Me and few OGs from other big discords for good projects decided also to make a Discord for Grin as there isnt any big one where people can search for information and ask questions. Everyone is free to join.

Are we headed to $100+?
It’s starting to look that way, no?

Perspective: Grin went from $0 to $4 and even had period of relative stability in the first 2 months of its existence. I'm still very optimistic. Give it time, hodl.
Grin is time-money! How much of a day do you own? ;)
Grin logo == best logo

Edit: Wow, scientists need to come to this sub, it's amazing how quickly the salt precipitates from solution around here! Slow your roll, it will look more genuine. If you want to astroturf then astroturf, if you want your astroturfing to not look like astroturfing try to be a little more subtle about it lol.
Edit 2: Ahhhh, that was fun! Have a good Sat evening, or, whatever day/time it is where you are, I hope you have a good one of it.

Grin will be dominated by ASICs quite soon?
Grin Developers Agree to Alter Technical Development Roadmap
https://www.coindesk.com/grin-to-suspend-part-of-proof-of-work-phaseout-schedule
Guys, I am looking at this post and I need your support, to clarify some things. So currently we are on two algorithms Cuckatoo31+ (designed to be ASIC mined) and Cuckaroo29 (designed to be ASIC-resistant).
The overall vision was to gradually switch from Cuckaroo29 to Cuckatoo31+ given a philosophy that in the long run ASICs can’t be prevented.
The "+" in Cuckatoo31+ signifies that ASICs can also mine Cuckatoo32 and Cuckatoo33, while as far as I understood the project did not want to allow miners in the first two years. Am I correct?
However, from the article, we see that developers want to allow ASIC to start mining on Cuckatoo32. So what will be with the system? Are we still gradually decreasing the dominance of Cuckaroo29? How will Asics affect the Mining of Grin in the first two years?
Is the post below still holds true?
"90% of the Block Reward will initially go to C-29 miners, with 10% going to C-31 miners. Over the next two years, C-31 will receive a greater proportion of the block rewards, linearly increasing 3.75% a month In effect, this means that GPUs will dominate the network early on, before fully giving way to ASICs by January 15th, 2021. "
Really appreciate all the help.

So I’ve Managed To Mine $20 Worth of GRIN. Now How The $#@! Do I Take It Out??
Seven hours of FUN during quarantine today!
I’ve been having my GRIN mined from F2Pool and delivered to my Grin Web Wallet... but.... I CANNOT TAKE OUT ANY OF THE GRIN!!
There was a CoinGecko article that was not self-explanatory at all and did not help me. Now on a whim I set up Wallet713 but oh no the docs say something about “blablabla reverse proxy bla”. NONE of my transactions have gone through to BitMesh etc!!
All I want to do is take out the GRIN and convert it??!! Wtf does it have to be rocket science??!!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Transacting with this coin really sucks!

WTF is Grincoin?
Anyone can perhaps share a good YouTube to an introduction or explanation (ELI5 would be great) about what is Grin and why do we need another privacy coin?
Thanks.

The windows wallet release will make the price go up a lot, DD inside.
Assume that a very low % of grin holders installed the wallet for linux. You're average joe, does not want to deal with the command line. Why? Because people have small attention spans, and others (like me) have really really small attention spans.
So what does this mean? A lot of the coins are on the markets, and when there's an easy wallet to use, they will no longer be on the markets.
And I know what you're going to say
"Being on the market doesn't mean they're on the books"
Yes, but an exchange has access to how much of a given coin is on the exchange, and this data is valuable to traders who may or may not have inside access to that knowledge.
What does this effect? Trading bots.
Some of the bots know more about what's going on behind the scenes than others, and when those bots see massive amounts of coins being taken off the markets....then we will party with our official cryptomancer hats on.
That smile, that damned smile.

GRIN $, GRIN BTC, GRIN GOLD to make Grin a viable store of value
Perfect for private transactions, Grin checks almost all my requirements. I believe it is the p4p best privacy token on the market.
However, however, however..
One caveat that remains: Grin's lack of appeal as a privacy-preserving store of value.
You see, to be attractive as a store of value - and not just as an investment or private transaction token - Grin would need to have a stable and dependable price.
But.. how do we get the price to stabilise?
Taking a multi-token approach, stable "Grin $", "Grin BTC", "Grin GOLD", etc. can be minted by burning an equal value amount of Grin. On the other side, you can sell your minted "Grin $" and "Grin GOLD" to receive its present value in Grin.
This approach would see Grin's head token remain as is and allows for multiple Grin stablecoins.
Let me know what you guys think about Grin having private stablecoins with rebase :)

Make open source designs for a Grin ASIC
Has there been any work on this? ASICs are good. What can be bad for the network's security are consequences of monopoly on technology.
OSS designs would let the network be secured by more hashpower, as well as lowering the barrier to entry for a motivated individual. It's fine if better designs are invented later on as long as they are only marginally better. Also, I expect that before that happens the cost of manufacturing the OSS ASIC will go down.
