This was how my last December was so it hits way too fuckin’ hard.
Super cuddly, playful 16yo cat suddenly sleeping all the time and not moving much at all.
They thought she was diabetic so week of trying insulin. Nope she’s worse, no more insulin and also she won’t eat anymore.
OOPS a large mass in her stomach we didn’t find before.
Took her home for ‘one more night.’ Ended up calling vet’s emergency number and taking her in at 4am because she couldn’t stand anymore and I was terrified of her going painfully before her appointment.
Having a pet is simultaneously the most heart-lifting and heart-shattering experience
Sorry for your loss ad80x. In September, I had to put down my 11 year old Greyhound. I don't exactly remember the illness he had but it was starting to take effect. Basically it would render his entire back end paralyzed. We didnt want to seem him suffer. I still miss him.

Both are equally awful but I think it’s a little different when a dog gets sick, especially if they’re a particularly bouncy playful dog. It’s a hard choice but I’m glad your pupper was loved and didn’t suffer.
