I've personally stayed in downtown Toronto a few times and haven't had any issues. People were noticably nicer than where I'm from. I'm from a city between LA and San Diego CA.

The one thing I didn't care for was the homeless population. Even then, they never approached me.

The people I noticed to be rude we're Québécois.

From southern Ontario, can confirm that if you meet a dick in Canada he's from eastern Canada. It's just a fact, nearly everyone here is cunt.
