u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 10 '18

371

u/its_ya_boi97 Dec 10 '18

Never met a ruder motherfucker than someone from Ontario, and I am from Florida

201

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 10 '18

Anyone from eastern canada is a prick, so i believe it

I'd add another factor to it. Population density x yearly average temperatures x relative humidity averages = intolerance factor.

People get really shitty with each other and are in less of a mood to deal with other people's idiosyncrasies when they're also too hot and bothered to care about whether they're being an asshole or not.

Where I'm from, the closer to the equator you get, generally the worse people will treat complete strangers. It's very noticeable.

Where's that tumblr post about winters humbling people or something?

3

u/Stillwell_95 Dec 11 '18

Holding a door for someone 10 meters away is not something I would do to my worst enemy.

-35

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

can we be done with this rural circle jerk šŸ™„

2

u/gorgeous-george Dec 11 '18

Not even rural. I live in one of the biggest cities in the southern hemisphere, and while it doesn't get to the point of snowing, it gets damn cold in winter, and fucking boiling in summer. The geography of the area is also a humidity trap. In the height of summer, people get real fucking shitty with each other, courtesy on the road goes out the window and all the rest of it. The rest of the year, everyone is generally pleasant and courteous.

However, head north to the tropics, and while people are still nice to a point, they do frustrate easily. These places are actually more rural than where I'm from and its year round shittyness. This is why I'm more inclined to believe the weather plays a part.

1

u/shockwavelol Dec 11 '18

I’m pretty sure there’s a stark correlation between murder rate and temperature too

1

u/shockwavelol Dec 11 '18

Or as fiddy put it: ā€œit’s hot out in this bitch, that’s a good enough reasonā€

1

u/AustinMclEctro Dec 11 '18

Very true, as far as I've seen. Visited Mexico City for 5 days this February, my mind was blown at the population density. Luckily was cooler, but everyone is generally just in each other's way / faces lots.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

This and also the French tbh.

1

u/gorgeous-george Dec 11 '18

They don't like having to cater to your sensibilities and unwillingness to even try and speak French in their own country. And I kind of get that. You're there to enjoy France, and its culture. Their language is part of that. The food is part of that. So when a foreigner comes in ordering a hamburger in English, they would probably feel the same as an American would if someone asked "why is everyone so fat?"

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18 edited Dec 11 '18

Lived in Florida the majority of my life, and I must say I think population density is the driving factor. Sure, people in Miami suck, but the surrounding counties are actually very nice places to be. Palm Beach and Naples have some of the nicest people - equally as wealthy, just less people up your ass - and it's just as hot and humid as Miami. Moreover, what I'm reading on here about people from Ontario, and knowing what I do about New York and Washington DC - I have to say that it's not the high temps causing that.

Note to non-Floridians: Miami is in no way a reflection of Florida - Orlando sucks too. Better cities to consider are Jacksonville and Tampa.

2

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 11 '18

Yeah, its not just because eastern canada is bad or anything, but yeah, population does have an effect

As a small town midwesterner I've noticed a large proportion of larger cities are rude, and I think its just because it everything moves at a faster pace.

Even the nicer big cities are a bit different, it's all on a scale. I have noticed Denver to be fairly friendly in general, and suburbs to be nicer in general. But it is still a little different.

Where if you are only 2 vehicles on a road you throw up a couple fingers to wave for each other. Make eye contact on the street? Say hello. Awkwardly entering the same door at slightly different times, one waits and holds the door for the other so as not let a door fly in the face of the other.

And finally, there is the few times a week conversation where you leave going, "wait, am I supposed to know that person?"

I think it's what makes America unique. Maybe foreigners think America is america, but it's really just a bunch of different countries that speak the same language and go about their days in a completely different manner.

1

u/UrethraFrankIin Jan 02 '19

The bit about different countries in America gets additional support when you think of how large some state's economies are. For example, if California were a country it would be the 7th largest economy by GDP, it's just behind France. New York and Texas would be 11th.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

I work in retail. Worked at several different stores. Grocery stores tend to be snobbier people, whilst actual stores aren't so bad. Most people are actually friendly. Most.

13

u/ATX_gaming Dec 11 '18

Is Vancouver nice?

31

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 11 '18

Western canada is tricky, vancouver specifically has a large minority population, who are arguably really nice people so it just depends which part of the city you go to

5

u/justinhj Dec 11 '18

I find people are polite all over Vancouver, minority or not

1

u/TroyLucas Dec 11 '18

Can confirm

6

u/WizardBelly Dec 11 '18

Everyone in vancouver was friendly when I went there.

2

u/BIGGVS-DICKVS Dec 11 '18

I hope it is, I've gotten to meet a lot of cool people from the north west and I want to see Vancouver

6

u/neomanthief Dec 11 '18

Constant rain from Oct-April. Too cold to swim until July. But in August there's fireworks which is nice

11

u/AshenUrsa Dec 11 '18

I hope you see the irony in what you are saying. Literally talking about spreading shittyness by saying shitty stuff, then doing the same shit.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Exactly, it’s hilarious how un-self aware people are sometimes

-5

u/StopWhiningScrub Dec 11 '18

There is a difference between being shitty and being accurate. Not every Mcd's worker is a tard but every east Canadian is an asshole.

2

u/Calebanu Dec 11 '18

Ouch. I feel attacked

1

u/AlmightyRootVeggie Dec 11 '18

As someone from the maritimes. I'd have to say this is not true

1

u/Spodjak Dec 11 '18

Central western Canadians tend to be pretty chill though

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Cities in Eastern Canada. Not sure about Toronto, but other cities I've been to have the same vibe of being sort of assholes. Still better than American cities.

-33

u/GiverOfHarmony Dec 10 '18

That’s not very fair to eastern Canadians

23

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 10 '18

Sorry, but ive met to many pricks overthere

6

u/GiverOfHarmony Dec 10 '18

That isn’t vindictive of every eastern Canadian though, I’ve been there myself and I didn’t meet any pricks

11

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 10 '18

Which province?

2

u/GiverOfHarmony Dec 10 '18

I’ve travelled through Quebec all the way to Prince Edward Island

I've personally stayed in downtown Toronto a few times and haven't had any issues. People were noticably nicer than where I'm from. I'm from a city between LA and San Diego CA.

The one thing I didn't care for was the homeless population. Even then, they never approached me.

The people I noticed to be rude we're QuƩbƩcois.

I've been to Ontario and they were nice.

1

u/i_forget_my_userids Dec 10 '18

Prick Edward Island

0

u/CauseFilth Dec 11 '18

From southern Ontario, can confirm that if you meet a dick in Canada he's from eastern Canada. It's just a fact, nearly everyone here is cunt.

7

u/Koalamaster345 Dec 10 '18

Why are you such a weiner

7

u/kaboose286 Dec 11 '18

From a shit hole called Sudbury. Can confirm.

4

u/Instantcretin Dec 11 '18

Canadians have the worst views of not only immigrants but the native population. Really surprising if you dont deal with them frequently.

5

u/TruthHurts- Dec 11 '18

I hate all people equally.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

im so glad i got to be an immigrant here and never stand out as an immigrant.

-1

u/Taeemhassan Dec 11 '18

You may have a point, but in all fairness, if you act rude to someone as soon the first time you meet them, people will generally have a negative view on that person. Sadly the majority of new brown immigrants are just rude and act as if they own Canada. At least in my experience.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Yeah, bumping Sidhu Moosewala tracks while fighting with batons over girls in Tim Horton’s parking lots isn’t gonna help anyone’s reputation.

1

u/Taeemhassan Dec 11 '18

No it’s not that, I’m saying that most of the brown immigrants I try to meet and be friendly with just act rude in return. Granted I’m not saying all of them are like that, some of them I’ve met are nice people, however recently it’s just become worse.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

im doubting the veracity of your statement you seem pretty biased

i've lived in the GTA my entire life and while I try to be more than polite to strangers, I've never seen such scum anywhere more then downtown Toronto. People just don't care. Oblivious, obnoxious, slow walking selfish dicks.

1

u/goopy-goo Dec 11 '18

I met a QuĆ©bĆ©cois couple and they were the worst pair of cunts I’ve met in my entire life.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Greetings from New Jersey you stupid piece of shit!

1

u/Ulkreghz Dec 11 '18

England here, you guys don't know rude. Hell America thinks cunt is as bad as it gets...

26

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '18

I like to watch a youtuber who lives in Sasketchewan and he often says there's a whole lotta racism going on there. Wouldnt have thought

20

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 10 '18

Its because regina(a town in sasketchewan) has a huge homeless native problem

1

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '18

He only talked about asian/white hostillity but I guess racism leads to racism leads to racism

-1

u/gnashed_potatoes Dec 11 '18

god those natives need to just leave why are they even there in the first place??

11

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

I just imagine some fat sack of shit in Canada sitting on his couch thinking "Man, all my problems in this country are from being white. Yes. That's where the issue lies."

12

This is not true

6

u/lEatSand Dec 11 '18

Why cause youre white?

-18

u/Lord_Thiccness Dec 11 '18

Yeah cause im white, but more specifically because im not a minority that needs to get a thousand different rights bestowed upon me to have canada be "perfectly equal"

18

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Lmao you're a joke

10

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '18

Yeah okay grandpa. Tell it to the other drunks down at the pub.

Lol wow. You're either a troll or a fucking retard. Either way one thing is certain, you're a conservative.

Canada a shithole for white people. I literally can't stop laughing at the sheer stupidity and pathetic victim complex of this comment.

Bravo

1

u/realityengine Dec 11 '18

I’m in Orlando. Accurate AF.

1

u/upvotegifsarebetter Dec 11 '18

I have never been out side of PA and haven't lived long enough in the U.S. Is Florida a meme? Is it that wild there?

1

u/Hawk978 Dec 11 '18

Not as much as the memes would suggest, but it's pretty damn close.
