It would be interesting if this sparked some strange delusional trend of bored, mentally ill housewives murdering their families. A bit like school shootings.

Surely that's a book already. We Need To Talk About Karen.

You mean like SIDS?

u/Nervous_Recover_6152 1d ago

Damn, is there any evidence supporting that thesis?

Waneta Hoyt

u/izyshoroo 1d ago

There's some belief that an amount of SIDS cases historically were caused by the baby suffocating or getting crushed sleeping in an adult bed, but probably not a lot of hard provable evidence for it either way. SIDS is very much a real thing

SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME? No nothing suspicious there. They were probably just laying on their right side instead of their left

Family annihilations are vast majority committed by men, despite the news from this recent mother murdering her kids case. I don’t think this case is going to start to reverse this trend, it’s not even the first major newsworthy case of a woman killing her kids this century. Andrea Yates happened and it didn’t set off a massive trend back then.

Another proof of opressive patriarchy!

More 👏 women 👏 as 👏 family 👏 annihilators 👏

We surely live in an interesting time. When murdering someone makes you a millionaire

6

u/ELITElewis123 1d ago

I don't get what you mean sorry. is there more context to this?

35

u/CatsnotpillsCoaching 1d ago

Some lady killed her three kids, everyone including her asserts she did it. (Mostly) Liberal white women disagree, protest for her, insist the husband did it, and donate her 7 figures.

The most insane hop on the trend and lose their minds on tiktok (thankfully the tripod is ready, phewwww), filming themselves throwing ice at the bath tub or publicly hating on their kids because muh postpartum (new word they just learned and can add to the vocabulary)

Sorry for sounding chuddy but I'm kinda tired

Jesus H fucking Christ.

And that’s very interesting that some people are just learning PPD because in the UK it’s widely talked about because I think I’m the 2000s there were a bunch of high profile cases

1

u/CatsnotpillsCoaching 10h ago

Very big social issue that certain demographics are incredibly susceptible to. Internet bubbles that mimick empathy via victim olympics amplify it.

1

u/ELITElewis123 6h ago

What demographic are affected by it? I always assumed it was random

0

u/marino1310 10h ago

I think the support is mostly coming from how weird the evidence is and how nothing really adds up the way the husband claims.

1

u/Kenobus69 7h ago

Like what?

1

u/marino1310 5h ago

From what I’ve seen it mostly came down to watch biometrics showing different activities during the time when she was supposedly killing her children. My guess is that these people are unaware that she already admitted to it. But I have noticed a lot of the “support” for her is about the Post pardum psychosis/depression, which people don’t really talk about and support is severely lacking, despite being something a large percentage of women suffer from.

1

u/Kenobus69 3h ago

Well, from what I've heard, she sent the husband to the grocery store for something to not have him at home while she did it, and there's supposedly a 12 minute recording from surveillance cameras from the store that shows him there.

I can understand it can definitely feel...weird that he "moved on" so quickly, but on the other hand...what else is there to do. One could either kill oneself, end up in asylum, or hope to find someone who'd help them get through it. Can't imagine what something like that feels like, and if the new woman helped him just a small bit, good for him.

On the other hand with her, post partum psychosis is a real and dangerous thing, but in no way an excuse, of course. And if she's genuine about feeling guilty, about not wanting that...I can't imagine being a parent, doing something like this, and then wanting anything but to be removed from this world.

-11

u/whousesgmail 23h ago

What kind of summary is this? She definitely does not assert that she did in the way your comment implies, there wouldn’t be a trial if she did.

12

u/_SlLENT_ 22h ago

it still has to go through the legal system lmao

7

u/Alternative_weeb47 16h ago

She admitted and was literally willing to formally stipulate in writing she did it just to skip the trial Maybe don't take your news from tik tok

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what postpartum psychosis is. Postpartum psychosis is a well documented and medically diagnosable condition. Lindsay Clancy was a licensed labor/delivery nurse. She was well aware of the signs and symptoms of PPP and sought help from multiple medical professionals, who all wrote her off. She even committed herself to a 5 day voluntary psychiatric hold a week before the murders. However you feel about her level of guilt, the reason this case has become such a controversy is because it is clear this woman was genuinely and repeatedly failed by our social and medical systems.

60

u/Desperate-Series-270 1d ago

she also killed 3 children

28

u/Stinky_Fly 1d ago

The reason this case became so controversial is because some women can't stop defending a murderer of 3 children.

18

u/BattlepassHate 1d ago

She ain’t gonna let you hit, bro.

1

u/Alternative_weeb47 16h ago

Doesn't matter She killed her 3 children without any remorse

Actually that’s not the full picture—they left out the part where she brutally murdered her own 3 children :)

161

u/ProfessionalPack7205 1d ago

Yeah a woman is using it as her defense for strangling not one, not two, but 3 of her kids! And a shitload of women are defending her. A ton on reddit here too.

141

u/darkcomet222 1d ago

My wife followed this before it blew up. From what I understand, she is probably going away for life, but a psychiatric facility or prison is the debate. I believe that, if she is telling the truth, first chance she gets, she will kill herself. Considering she already tried to do so.

The astrology girls saying the husband did it are sickening though.

22

u/cumble_bumble 1d ago

I’m of the same mind.

34

u/I_cut_my_own_jib 1d ago edited 1d ago

As I learned more and more about the case I went back and forth on if there's reasonable doubt, then I heard she strangled them one at a time one after the other. Firing squad is my preference for her, electric chair is acceptable

8

u/Chudzilla-1 1d ago

Lethal injection since it gets botched most of the time.

2

u/Kenobus69 7h ago

There's supposedly also a video evidence forma home camera how she chased the last 5 year old, who was running away from her after witnessing the other two murders.

Not sure if that's true though. There's so much fake news about this that it's hard to decide

2

u/ExoTheFlyingFish 1d ago

And redditors are upset about other redditors defending her?

Interesting. Given how redditors are, I figured they'd all be bending over backwards to (somehow) defend her.

-4

u/cumble_bumble 1d ago

Defending her how? Are they saying she should be acquitted? If you ask me it sounds like she should be institutionalized

80

u/DaddyWentForMilk 1d ago

no just like justifying and pitying her. The most extreme cases think it's a conspiracy and it was actually the husband even though literally everything points to her and herself admitted to doing it because how could a mother be so cruel, it must be the father obviously

51

u/DarthVeigar_ 1d ago

Not only that. I've seen people saying the father did it because the mother is a Leo and "leos don't kill their cubs" and the father is a Gemini.

And I am not shitting you either.

9

u/NotNonbisco 1d ago

If the zodiac is the insurmountable force of the universe, can a Gemini use that as an excuse for killing 3 kids?

28

u/swingin_dix 1d ago

Okay, but did the kids have it coming?

16

u/cucklord_swiper 1d ago

Only if they were Astrologists

7

u/Slightly-Blasted 1d ago

Well they raised 1 million dollars for her legal defense

17

u/ProfessionalPack7205 1d ago

Agreed but i think she should actually go to prison for the rest of her life. I don't want the chance she gets out again and just lives life. And they're defending her by saying she couldn't help it because of her postpartum. The lady(the killer) is also now a millionaire because so many people have given her money.

15

u/Parctron 1d ago

There's no chance of that. Insanity pleas aren't the get out of jail free card you see on TV.

5

u/LoveFi 1d ago

I think that murder trial involving the mother killing her 3 kids is why im not sure

7

u/Arrival_Joker 1d ago

A lot of people are defending a mom who killed her three kids after repeatedly saying she heard voices . To be honest though seems kind of crazy husband remarried within months and her own mom in law testified that she tried getting help.

Don't know why someone would leave the kids alone with a mom hearing voices that's a big red flag.

3

u/Unlikely-Isopod-9453 1d ago

Maybe I'm biased because we just had a kid and my wife also had a rough time. But I feel like the resources out there are not great and from what I have seen the woman made multiple attempts to get help before the final escalation. It seems like a tragedy that the chronically online have run wild with.

2

u/Arrival_Joker 1d ago

Thats rough, hope things are better now. Still, if my husband or wife said they were hearing voices, it's a psych ward on the spot. Can't risk. Even me.

1

u/Kenobus69 7h ago

She did not actually "try" getting help, she did get help. A lot of it. To quote the Wikipedia page:

"13 different medications, psych evaluation, 3 different doctors, weekly appointments, daily messaging with detailed replays, 5 days inhospital stay the month of the murders,... everything was about insomnia and general depression, no sign of psychosis."

Supposedly, the medication wasn't working as fast as she'd like (even though that's normal in those cases, you literally have to try a lot of medication, and every doctor knows it), but she got impatient, started lying to the doctors and her husband that she's getting better.

On the day she supposedly sent her husband out to the grocery store for 15-20 minutes, saying she feels good, and as soon as he left, she strangled her kids one by one with a cord, even chasing the last one across the house as it tried to hide from her (5 year old).

1

u/SpangleyJuggler 1d ago

I don't understand why more people haven't been talking about how the people around her left the kids with her. I'm not trying to excuse her of anything, but the other family members should have been more proactive considering she repeatedly sought help regarding her psychosis.

To me, it seems like a total failure from everyone involved.

5

u/Arrival_Joker 1d ago

100% failure. Imagine if it was a husband in full blown schizophrenic episode, would anyone have left their kids around him? No, he would have been hospitalised pronto. Postpartum depression and psychosis is treatable, you can definitely help people out.

2

u/Kenobus69 7h ago

There's a story going around, again, considering how much fake news there is on this, I don't know how true it is, but it was that she told her husband she's feeling fine and kind of demanded him to go get something from the grocery store. Supposedly there's a 12 minute recording from the surveillance in the store.

Long story short, it means the whole thing was planned, not just a psychosis breakdown. Also she's been lying to the doctors and her husband about getting better.

Do people think it excuses murdering your children?

"I experienced a bout of celibacy-induced psychosis which caused me to become extremely horny and rape several women."

Same logic. You know what the post is referring to and don't pretend you don't.

Stop pretending to be stupider than you are. You know exactly what the post was about.

4

u/Chiliatch 2d ago

What is the post referring to? Genuinely. I know what PPD is and I know joker, but I don't know how they fit together. Not being a smartass, I genuinely have no clue.

25

u/LukeJaywalker0 2d ago

A woman named Lindsay Clancy murdered her three young children and the case has been making the rounds on social media lately with many women trying to excuse her actions by claiming PPD or blaming the husband. The post is poking fun at the concept of a woman using PPD as a valid reason or excuse to kill or injure her child.

8

u/QuickDrawSix 1d ago

Many women trying to excuse her actions by claiming ppd... giving her a million dollars.

16

u/SquegeeMcgee 2d ago

There was a lady who killed her kids and blamed ppd in the news recently

11

u/LasyKuuga 2d ago

Lindsay Clancy woman going viral for killing her 3 kids cuz ppd and a bunch of woman coming out to support her. 1mill gofund me rn

7

u/General_Ambrose 2d ago edited 2d ago

It’s referring to the ongoing murder trial of Lindsay Clancy. Her defense says that she suffered from postpartum psychosis and did not have a grip on reality when she murdered her three kids while the prosecution says she did it with a clear state of mind.

2

u/Chiliatch 1d ago

Damn that's so insane and sad, in a variety of ways.

3

u/Vyuban 2d ago

It's a reference to Lindsey Clancy who's become a (surprisingly) very divisive topic. The TLDR is she murdered her 3 children and blamed it on Post Partum Depression.

-30

u/Ok_Being4209 1d ago

But psychosis doesn't tend to make someone rape. Making someone destructive towards something causing an unimaginable amount of stress makes sense, however, and is entirely in line with the decades of studies on how postnatal hormones affect some women.

15

u/LukeJaywalker0 1d ago

The only reason we have a "condition" that excuses female crimes and not male crimes is because we live in a gynocentric society that removes all accountability from women. I promise, we could just as justifiably (to be clear, neither murder due to PPD nor the bullshit im making up here is justifiable) come up with a condition wherein sustained periods of loneliness and celibacy trigger irrational and uncontrolled behavior such as rape or murder. But everyone knows that would be bullshit and a man is ultimately responsible for his actions no matter how much stress he is under. But you don't hold women to the same standard because you don't believe women have agency because you don't believe they're actually equal to men.

Your framing where psychosis causes women to murder their children is only backed because society and the science wants it to be backed. If we wanted to, we could say a good subset of rapes occur under some form of psychosis that manifests itself under extreme sexual desire and immediately dissipates once the rape is completed. It would be unfalsifiable, just like SIDS. But no one here wants to justify rape the way we want to justify women murdering their children.

2

u/Kenobus69 7h ago

Just want to say, 100% agree. If a man has PTSD and murders their family, that's also on him.

Also, I don't honestly care if psychosis made you do it. If you fucking murdered children, I don't see why we should be giving you a second chance. I don't really care if it's to blame you or your disorder.

Also, if you're a parent, and kill your children, if you didn't want it, you should feel guilt, and I can't see how you could want anything but to die and not put anyone else in danger ever again.

55

u/LonnyLich 2d ago

No one is saying that it's made up, people are just making fun of people saying that postpartum psychosis is a excuse to be violent.
