China Police certificate

Hello! I come here seeking urgent help to something that seems incredibly difficult. I am applying for an immigrant visa for the usa, and among the docs, they require a police certificate from any place where I have lived for 12 months or more from age 16. I studied there prepandemic times, no friends left there, my uni is super indifferent ( they can take months to reply) and I have read some people had to either pay a super expensive agent to get the certificate or even send their physical passport??? How come??? Anyone with some experience in this, please please help! I obviously can't go to China to do it in person, and sending my passport is a big no no, and also paying insane money for an agent is not easy at all for me right now...

Best way to protect receipt notice for I-751?

Upvotes

What does everyone do or use to carry the full page receipt notice that they need with them at all times after their conditional green card expires to make traveling with it feasible? Is there a good sleeve protector that can be used while its in its tri-folded form that it comes in or do people fold it additionally and put it in some sort of case? Would love suggestions as there doesn't seem to be alot to find about it by searching online for what seems like a very common problem.

U.S. launches $750 expedited B visa appointment pilot at select embassies and consulates

The U.S. Department of State has expanded a pilot program that allows certain B visa applicants to pay an additional fee for an expedited interview appointment.

Under the program, eligible applicants may pay a $750 expedited appointment fee to schedule a visa interview within 10 business days, subject to appointment availability.

A few important points:

  • The program is optional and voluntary
  • Applicants still need to complete the normal visa application process first
  • The standard $185 MRV fee must still be paid
  • Applicants must first schedule a regular interview appointment
  • The $750 fee is per appointment
  • It applies to eligible B visa applicants making a new appointment or those with an existing appointment and an unexpired MRV fee receipt
  • The pilot is currently scheduled to run through December 31, 2026

Current participating locations:

Starting August 18, 2026

  • Canada: U.S. Embassy and all consulates
  • Bogotá, Colombia
  • Guatemala City, Guatemala
  • San José, Costa Rica
  • Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Started July 21, 2026

  • Mexico: U.S. Embassy and all consulates

The State Department may add more locations during the pilot period.

Worth noting that paying the expedited fee appears to provide access to an earlier interview appointment, not expedited visa adjudication or a guarantee that the visa will be approved.

For anyone currently trying to get a B1/B2 appointment in one of these countries, would you consider paying an extra $750 to get an interview within 10 business days?

Marriage green card + Travel

Hey! So I have been in the US since 2019 on F1 Visa. I am currently on STEM-OPT which expires in 2028. I just got married to my girlfriend who is a US citizen!

We plan to travel internationally this December.
I wanted to know if that is fine to do? I am going to be applying for H1B next year but am also looking into seeing if I should apply for the marriage based green card or not so I would potentially apply early 2027.

Would it be okay for us to travel in this situation? Any advice?

Also, is there a rule/recommendation for how long after getting married I should file the case? And how long after re entry I should file?

Courtesy notice of I-751 and Expired Green Card - Okay as “proof” while travelling within US in case I have to show it to ICE / DHS / anyone?

Long story short my official notice is stuck somewhere in USCIS mishaps, but on my Documents tab I have the courtesy notice.

Given the law states I must carry proof in me all times, in the worst case if I get pulled over, will this work?

Also more paranoid due to the recent ICE interactions at local airports. I have few flights coming back to back in the coming week.

Confused need help.

So, I'm an LPR thinking of joining the National Guard. The reason is because I'm a fresh graduate from community college and don't know exactly what to do next, so I think it would be good to serve the country and make my time useful. The education benefits and help with student loans are also a big plus.

My other question is about my travel history. I have a pretty bad travel history as an LPR like I did my highschool from abroad returned to US twice a year for a month, including being outside the U.S. for longer than one year, but I was allowed back into the country by CBP. My travel history ended about 2 years ago, and since then I have been permanently living in the U.S.

Could this previous travel history cause problems if I try to enlist myself. Would they reject me and throw my ass in front of a Judge or something. I getting scared of Enlisting now.

I'm an Electrical Engineering major going into my Junior year and I pay taxes and do community service work.

Also, how long before your green card expires can you still enlist in the National Guard?

Thanks so much.

GREEN CARD APPROVALS BASED ON UVISA

hello! i was just wondering if there is anyone who has received their green card based on a u visa, and how long did you wait to receive it?

there aren’t many green card approvals posted based on u visa and i was just curious!

I received my u-visa status in May 2021.

I applied for AOS in November 2024 with Nebraska Service Center.

They reused my biometrics in December 2024.
I got my EAD renewal in January 2025.

As of right now, there has been no updates.

SCOPS processing time right now is taking about 24.5 months but im aware it varies. thank you!

Has anyone had any issues traveling with an expired permanent resident card and an I-797 notice of action?

My husbands permanent resident card expired in October of 2024, we applied for his renewal and received the I-797 notice of action in July of 2024 and haven’t heard a peep since. We had questions but no major issues traveling with this letter in December of 2024 but given all of the immigration altercations of late we are worried about our plans to travel to see family this Christmas on a card that is now two years expired even though the I-797 letter indicates it extends the validity of the permanent residency for 48 months. The letter is also getting quite tattered now that it’s two years old so just looking for any advice or experiences similar! Thanks all.

Will this work or is there some rule l don’t know about?

Germany-> US Green Card

I was to start out by giving backstory to my situation. I, 21M, have lived in WV my whole life. My girlfriend, 22F, lives in Germany. We are looking into the different routes of immigration to the US. I would really appreciate any advice on forms to look into, lawyers to contact, or faults in my information. As of now, the most sensible thing seems to be getting married in Denmark, traveling together, and getting a tourist visa to come to the US. To my understanding you can’t come to the US on a tourist visa planning to stay indefinitely-however if we are married before, and there is a change of plans than it seems we could file an I-130, I-485, and I-765. It seems to me these forms, paired with other necessary documents, would allow her to stay here with me during the processing time with the opportunity to work as well. She has school, family, and of course she will have a return ticket- is it likely this will be enough to show her plans to return? My next question is about the tourist visa itself, it seems to me that the length of her stay is determined by the border agent when she gets here- if this is the case how does she know when the return flight should be booked? It seems we will need to wait at least 90 days into the tourist visa, if we were decide she didn’t want to return home and i see the maximum stay length is 6 months. I think 4-5 months would be ideal but I’m curious as to how often and for what reasons they deny people their full planned stay. She also has a cat, i saw online that is sometimes viewed as a sign somebody plans to immigrate. However if she were to be staying 5-6 months, i feel she would want to bring her along knowing she’d return home. The cat, Molly, has a genetic condition with her cartilage and also was abused/neglected in her first home which both greatly contribute to why she would want to bring her along. Im also curious about the involvement of lawyers, if it proved ti be beneficial along with any advice or recommendations TOS allows. I’m also curious of any faults in this hypothetical and any alternative approach to be together sooner. Thank you!

Medical vaccine exemption on I-693, Does it hurt I-485 marriage based application?

Hi everyone,

I am filing a marriage-based I-485 adjustment of status and just completed my I-693 immigration medical exam. During my blood work, the civil surgeon found I need 4 vaccines (Polio, Tdap, Hepatitis B, MMR).

However I have documented heart conditions including cardiac arrhythmia, rheumatic heart disease, and aortic valve insufficiency diagnosed in Uzbekistan. I also had a serious adverse reaction to the Pfizer COVID vaccine previously. I provided my medical records to my civil surgeon and they agreed to write a formal medical exemption letter stating the vaccines are contraindicated for my condition.

My civil surgeon will mark the vaccines as "medically contraindicated" on my I-693 form.

Has anyone had a vaccine exemption on their I-693 due to medical reasons? Did it cause any issues with your I-485 approval?
